| I was driving on i91 north in springfield mass the engine runaway on me, car reached 100 mph for some time put car in neutral, the engine run at full speed until blowing up throwing a connecting rod through the block, finally i managed to pull the car on the brake down lane. i have just picked the car from a 30000 mile service oil change from fathers & sons vw in west springfield mass. towed the car back to dealer, engine is complete loss needs to be replace. very scary it almost got me in an accident traffic at the time was heavy i have no trust on the car anymore ## vin passed ## vw jetta wagon tdi 2011 ##. *tr | |||

| Traveling in the left lane on 95 n outside baltimore md at 65 mph my vehicle's gas pedal stopped responding and the car began to lose power and lurch forward and eventually die as the yellow diesel engine indicator along with the yellow engine indicator began blinking. i was able to avoid two lanes of traffic and coast over two lanes to an off ramp before the steering wheel locked. after contacting vw roadside assistance the vehicle was towed to heritage vw located at 9215 harford road #2 parkville, md 21234 (877) 398-1963. it was after 9:00 p.m so the vehicle was left in the lot and all the paperwork was dropped in the box. the service department cited a fuel pump malfunction along with a faulty fuel gauge as the issue. this is the second time we have had to submit a report to your agency for the exact same issues (please see reference number 10417213), the agents information is listed below. | While entering freeway have to depress accelerator peddle 1/4 to 3/4 of the way down before acceleration begins. from stop and murging into traffic have to depress accelerator 1/4 to 3/4 of the way down before acceleration. entering freeway or fast starts, accelerates then dies off then goes again. on hill starts it sometimes rolls back as if it is in nutral. these are intermitent problems at varrying degres of severety . | |||

| New car manual transmission, car stalls out at low speeds on snow covered roads. rpm's 1400 - 2000 can stop problem if traction control is disabled. i have driven manuals for over 30 years and it is not operator error it is a problem with the traction control and computer system - it dies in traffic and requires the key to be turned all the way off and then back on to get the car started. taking the rpm's up to 2500 avoids the problem - but this will certainly wear out the clutch. dealer feels it is just a sensitive clutch - i now have 600 miles on the car and have to disable traction control to stop the stalling at start ups and low speed shifting. | |||

| My new 2011 vw jetta sportswagen decelerated suddenly while driving at 65 mph on the highway. the engine lost most of its power and the car could only go at about 30 mph. the car regained all its power after the engine was shut off. i consider this a critical safety issue with the car. | |||

(the 3 references in the original complaint were only for the 2010 model year.). this brings the total to 9 other volkswagen jetta sportwagen tdi incidents that are similar or identical to my own. based on these multiple reports, there can be no question but that volkswagen has known about this hazardous and costly defect for at least 3 years. additional odi complaint numbers: 10356900, 10355519, 10354353, 10315932, 10297692, 10295191 | |||
