PE09035VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC07/17/200911/19/2009VEHICLE STALL/LOSS MOTIVE POWER09V333000
The subject vehicles are equipped with direct shift gearbox (dsg) transmissions, which feature a 6-speed automatic gearbox with two wet running clutches (dual clutch) in which the clutch mechanism and gear changes are electrohydraulically operated by a mechatronic control unit.the dsg mechatronic controller includes extensive self diagnostic functions and strategies to ensure safe operation and prevent system/component damage in the event of component failures or harsh operating conditions.the basic hierarchy of fault modes includes some that only result in the storage of a diagnostic trouble code (dtc) and cause no loss of function, some that store a dtc and reduce vehicle operation to a limp home mode, and some that store a dtc and cause an interruption of motive power (i.e., open clutch).the driver is alerted to the latter two modes by the dash gear position indicator (prnds) flashing. one of the conditions that results in interruption of motive power is excess gearbox temperature.the system initially responds to increased gearbox temperature by ramping down engine torque.if the temperature keeps rising the mechatronic unit responds by opening the clutch.in a defect information report submitted to nhtsa on august 20, 2009, volkswagen described a potential defect in the wiring harnesses of the dsg gearbox temperature sensors used in approximately 16,000 model year (my) 2009 and 2010 volkswagen (eos, jetta and gti) and audi (a3 and tt/tt roadster) vehicles equipped with dsg transmissions and built from september 2008 through august 2009 (nhtsa recall no. 09v-333, volkswagen recall no. 37e3/s7 and audi recall no 37e4/j7). volkswagen provided this description of the defect, the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the dsg may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped by the connector supplier during a limited production period.with insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral.if this happens, the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash.in addition, the depress brake pedal indicator light will be illuminated, alerting the driver to apply the brakes.in heavy traffic, the abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning.volkswagen estimated that less than one percent of the recalled vehicles may contain the defect condition. odi identified 40 complaints that appear to be related to the temperature sensor defect condition described by volkswagen.volkswagen received 139 complaints related to the condition, with 7 involving vehicles reported to odi, resulting a 172 total complaints to odi and volkswagen.all of these complaints involve the my 2009 an 2010 vehicles subject to recall 09v-333. odi also identified complaints of harsh/jerky shifting in some volkswagen vehicles with dsg.volkswagen attributed this condition, which typically occurs at very low speeds, to excessive wear in the bushings of the two solenoid valves in the mechatronic unit that control clutch operation.volkswagen does not believe that the this condition is a safety defect because the changes in shift quality develop gradually over time, do not cause a loss of motive power and have not resulted in any fatalities, injuries or serious crashes (there were three reported property damage incidents resulting in minor body damage in very low speed, parking maneuvers).volkswagen addressed this problem in the field with a customer service program that includes the replacement of potentially affected mechatronic units as well as a 10 year/100,000 mile extended warranty.this investigation is closed with volkswagen's recall of the defect condition that may result in a loss of motive power while driving.

The car has very rough slow speed lurching and jerking when moving in reverse and also in slow forward. its worse on cold start moving.

 1) purchased the car and noticed the jumps twice on my way home. it has since continued to be an issue for the whole two weeks of my ownership. 2) accelerating from a full stop the car hesitates, hangs, and then jumps forward after a moment. this happens about half the time. i notice when i roll slowly ~5 mph it does not hang or jump nearly as much or as often. 3) nothing has been done as of yet. i plan to take my 2008 vw r32 to the dealership to see what may be the cause. *tr

Sudden loss of power and mobility for a few seconds when taking off from a stand still .... this has happened a few times a week in the month i've had the car . it seems especially dangerous when making a left turn in front of on coming traffic ..!! also when backing/reverse slowly into my garage , the car is very jerky ...? *tr

Random loss of power/torque coming out of dsg transmission when shifting into certain gears, jerky reverse, hesitation starting from stop, jerky downshift to first gear. hesitation has randomly occured multiple times including at an intersection. jerking (or pulsating power delivery) during reverse and when downshifting into first is always there. hesitation when starting from stop is also always present. i believe this probably as something to do with the mechatronics unit of the dsg. i am worried about saftey due to the abnormal behavior of this transmission. lossing power at an intersection or other critical locations can easily lead to an accident. also i am afraid that this abnormal behavior is going to lead to transmission problems including but not limited to abnormal clutch pack wear which might need to be replaced later down the line after the 60,000 mile warranty is up. *tr

The dsg transmission in my 2008 volkswagen r32 seems to slip or not engage correctly coming for a stop or shifting from reverse to drive. it occurs at least once a week. *tr no work has been done to my cars transmission.

It is a common driving issue with my my2008 volkswagen r32 equipped with a dsg transmission. there are times when accelerating at low speeds the car will lurch and then it appears the dsg disengages and the car coasts as if it is in neutral and this is in either d or s mode. also when driving on the interstate at speed, occasionally when i go to accelerate when changing lanes to pass a slow individual, the dsg appears to disengage while the throttle is depressed and then coast momentarily like it is in neutral in d, s, or m mode and then finally it will reengage. this occurs every time i drive the car including today. *tr

The car was purchased with ~2000 miles on it. when coming to a near stop, and then trying to accelerate hard around a corner, on 4 occasions there was a loud backfire, and the car would stall completely. the car had to be stopped and restarted each time. at ~25000 miles, a vw technician and friend performed a basic settings on my dsg transmission. since then, i have had no further issues, other than a slight clunk when applying throttle before coming to a full stop. *tr

Loss of power when downshifting. this has happened more than a few times. fortunately, it has never happened in a situation where a crash could have occurred. nothing has been done. my vw service adviser told me a recall for the dsg transmission is imminent. that was in august. so far, i've heard nothing.

My 2008 vw r32 is starting to have dsg transmission problems at 22,000 miles. it clunks when going in and out of reverse and drive; it feels as though it will not disengage the forward gear when coming to a stop, then suddenly disengages, jolting the whole car. this happens all the time when driving. the dealer acknowledged the problem and said they will get a part to try to solve it, but not until september (and it is june now). they said to keep driving it this way.

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32. the driver stated that his transmission malfunctioned while driving at a low speed. the driver stated that his vehicle began to lunge forward while he was driving in reverse. the driver also stated that if he applied pressure to the accelerator pedal to increase his speed, the vehicle shifted into neutral gear on its own. the failure has continued to occur since the vehicle was purchased. the dealer made several attempts to diagnose the failure and stated that there was nothing they could do to assist him. the failure mileage was 200. the current mileage was 20,000.

After the car gets to it's warm temps (roughly 30 mins of driving), it starts to jerk through low gears, harsh downshifting when slowing down to stop. taking my foot off the brake from a stop the car will lurch/sputter forward rather than slowly roll forward, at times (very inconsistent, roughly 2-3 in an hours drive) the car will surge then slam into gear before i'm able to press on the gas to drive, it feels almost as though it's about to stall. *tr

While driving up a steep hill (about 30mph) and approaching an intersection, the vehicle in front of me made a last minute decision to brake hard and make a right hand turn without signaling. i slowed to a stop behind the vehicle while they turned. once the vehicle completed it's turn, i proceeded to pass through the intersection. i mashed the throttle (the light had just turned yellow) to clear the intersection, but the engine did not respond. finally, after about 2 seconds, the dsg went into gear and i was able to proceed. however, my vehicle remained in the middle of the intersection for about a second before the dsg began to work. additionally, the dsg in the vehicle routinely takes a moment to engage. the above incident was the first time the dsg's failure to work left me vulnerable. *tr

I have had several issues with some corrected but the hesitation of power and shifting issues with dsg continue to persist. several times i have tried to accelerate and the car does not respond immediately, this has happened on the expressway several times. there is also some jerking in the car as it tries to go through gears. it also feels like it is going to stall before it actually gets going. finally, the car has rumble feel through the pedal and feels like it is fighting itself and when you turn the wheel to the left it starts an on and off rumble. other problems that have occurred were a loud knocking which was eventually fixed by replacing the entire engine. they first replaced the flywheel thinking that was the issue. *tr

After coming to a complete stop and letting off the brake pedal, while the car is still in drive, it will lurch or jump forward - almost as though i've pressed the accelerator pedal. this seems to get worse as the outside ambient temps increase. in stop and go traffic the car is a nightmare to drive, as it will lurch and jerk heavily. i've actually had my starbucks coffee shoot out of the cup and spill on me because of this - yes, it lurches that much. i've almost rear-ended a few cars and hit my garage wall. all of this is actually our second go around as we've had the mechatronics unit replaced by vw with 17646 miles on the car. the car now has 21500 miles on it and the symptoms are back again. i'm not sure what to do? the first time our vw dealer had the car for about a month to get it fixed but their fix only seemed to work for a short time as we're starting to have the same problems again. the car is jerky and clunky when shifting at low speed driving. i've had the dealer tell me this is normal dsg behavior but we own (2) 2008 vw r32 - my wife and i each have our own. the other car drives much smoother and does not exhibit the behavior that these car does; however, i'm nervous that our other too will soon start having problems. i'm holding off bringing the car back to the dealer until they come up with a proper fix. vw please remedy this problem. our family has been a loyal vw/audi customer our entire lives. *tr

After purchasing my 2008 vw r32 it was a very smooth vehicle. the dsg transmission was advertised as driving exactly like a conventional automatic transmission-equipped vehicle. after a year and 12,000 miles i have experienced several incidents where the transmission feels like it disengages. the engine revs up, but there is absolutely no motive power. this has happened both on the expressway as well as on the street. in all occurrences the vehicle regains motive power within 5-10 seconds. however, due to the nature of the public highways, losing motive power in a vehicle can be very dangerous, and has put my life at risk when this happened. it is my opinion that this issue is investigated, as i have heard from other 2008 vw r32 owners that the same thing has happened to them as well. *tr

Lurching motion of car as transmission engages and disengages. this happens mainly when pulling off from a complete stop. loss of power/forward momentum. this happens when down shifting manually and pressing gas to gain speed quickly to merge into traffic (highway/interstate traffic). this also happens when allowing the dsg transmission to shift automatically when pressing the gas (harder that normal acceleration to merge with highway/interstate traffic). *tr

Have a 2008 vw golf r32 dsg. shifting is extremely rough and appears to have a mind of its own. in fact sometimes it does not respond to my shifts and all and coasts until engaging. i have been told this problem can be fixed by replacing the mechatronic unit, but vw denies the issue. this is ridiculous. i have searched issues with it on the internet forums and i am for sure not alone. i think this issue should be a recall for both safety and reliability reasons. *tr

Intermittent problems with a vw r32 dsg transmission. most significant was a case where i was attempting to accelerate from a stop. the engine revved, but the car did not move forward. all of a sudden, the car lurched forward very hard as the transmission engaged at ~3000 rpm. i had to immediately hit the brakes to avoid colliding with the slower-moving traffic in front of me. my initial reaction was that i had been involved in a rear-end collision due to the magnitude of the impact. however, it was just the transmission engaging spontaneously. *tr
07/24/2009120001
Yesterday i changed lanes in order to pass. i stomped it, and although the rpms shot up, nothing happened -- no power. i thought i had somehow bumped the gear shift into neutral. it was not in neutral, it was in s. i took my foot off the accelerator, shifted to d, and then reapplied the accelerator. all was back to normal. because all of this happened so quickly, and because i may be confused, i'm giving the transmission the benefit of the doubt -- but i'm paying close attention now. it's no fun to need power, expect to get it, and instead just get noise from revved rpms. *tr
11/30/200815001
When i purchased my 2008 vw r32 it drove and shifted smoothly and without issue. after we put about 1500 miles on the car it started jerking forward roughly as if the clutch was engaged and then slams into gear when starting from a complete stop, this behavior is intermittent and seems to be related to the relative amount of time the car has been driven, the longer it's been the more likely it is to do it. i've had cases where the dsg would also simply jerk forward and back very harshly during a quick stop/start that didn't involve wot acceleration. i've taken this car into vw specifically for this problem and was told that it was default behavior of the dsg and required some finesse to avoid these issues, i just don't think that's true and they should be responsible for fixing this without someone dying because it's difficult to handle or mechanically unreliable. *tr
08/06/200865311
The dsg transmission in my 2008 vw r32 has been jerky its whole time i have owned it but it seems to be progressively getting worse. when accelerating from a dead stop to get up to driving speeds the dsg will react extremely jerky and hesitate from time to time, causing the engine to rev super high, then it will kick in to gear causing me and my passengers to go through a whiplash type state for a few seconds before the cycles starts over again when going into the next gear. also when at highway cruising speeds when i try to occasionally pass another car and depress the gas pedal the engine will just rev really high for a few seconds before accelerating. during all of these instances that this has occurred i have been extremely lucky to be able to avoid all other vehicles around me and not get into any serious accidents. if this continues in the future i am unsure if i will be so lucky and i am cautiously awaiting the time when my transmission goes out completely and i am in a serious wreck. from the research i have conducted it would seem that there has been a rash of faulty mechatronics units and dsg's throughout the vw product line. the conversations i have had with other vw owners always leads to the same conclusion that either replacing the mechatronics unit, sometimes repeatedly, or an entire replacement transmission is the only cure. this needs to be fix permanantly by vw before something serious happens and someone winds up either in the hospital or dead. *tr
08/09/2009100001
My vehicle is a 2008 volkswagen model r32. all of the following issues happens when the transmission is in d (drive) position. at low speeds (below 40 mph) the transmission appears to go in and out and up and down the gears resulting in a clunky and un-smooth movement of the vehicle. also this is often evident during slow gentle acceleration and slowing down from low speed (approx 40 mph or less). about 75% of the time the car does not respond to a gentle acceleration, there is a very noticeable delay until the transmission shifts itself. similar for slowing down, the engine remains at high rpm and suddenly slows, but not consistently i did notice that all of this happens more when the car is warmed up, rarely while the engine is cold.. at high speed the car acts normally including during quick acceleration. something is definitely not right, the car should not be doing this in my opinion. car dealer says only that all the dsg-transmission equipped cars do this and i should get used to it. evidently there is no official fix; *tr

Several symptoms related to dsg transmission switching gears: from a stop, car lunges and jerks into first gear. rpm's sometimes dip and surge, and car sometimes feels like it is going to stall. when upshifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, gear sometimes engages with a thunk. when downshifting 3 to 2 or 2 to 1, car often surges and jerks. in reverse, car sometimes loses power for a second or two. *tr

Vw 2008 r32 with dsg transmission. manual downshifts from 5>4, 4>3, and 3>2 cause a dangerous power or throttle lag from the motor. since downshifts are often done in preparation for a safety maneuver while driving, this lag causes the maneuver to fail leaving the car and driver vulnerable and without power while mid-maneuver. i can replicate the problem. vw service centers have not seen tcu fault codes, nor have they duplicated the problem although i have instructed them how to do so. apparently they are not following the proper instructions to replicate it. no service has been performed aside from resetting the tcu with factory settings a number of times. *tr

2 issues with my dsg transmission first; when slowing down from speed the transmission jerks and shifts very rough from second gear to first especially. it is very strange feeling and sometimes dangerous due to abrupt speed changes. second the transmission does not shift up after accelerating: when you accelerate to speed and let off the gas to maintain the target speed; the transmission continues to rev higher for 2-3 seconds before shifting to the proper gear. both of these issues have occurred multiple times already after only 4 days of ownership of this car: 2008 volkswagen r32. *tr

Difficult to accelerate from standing start with the dsg transmission hesitating then grabbing suddenly with mechanical sound. i consider the hesitation a serious problem since the delayed acceleration is difficult to anticipate. turning from a stop has hesitation and then the car jumps forward sometime changing to a lower gear. this occurs in d automatic and manual modes. this is recurring problem since began leasing the r32 in april 2008.*tr

Type vehicle: volkswagen/r32 2008 nhtsa action number: pe09035 current mileage: 25,000. the failure: several symptoms: 1) loss of motive power: basically, at times, from a stop, the car just doesn't go. the engine revs, but the transmission doesn't engage. after a few seconds normal function returns. 2) extremely harsh shifting while maneuvering at low speeds, usually when accelerating from first to second gear. 3) at times, at low speeds, noticeably when approaching a stop, the transmission will not downshift when i try to shift manually, using the controls. 4) when backing especially, but also when moving very slowly as when parking, the car has begun to move in a very jerky manner. this is very dangerous in a busy grocery store parking lot. the symptoms began at about 17 or 18000 miles and are gradually getting worse. *tr

On multiple occasions either when up shifting or downshifting, the dsg transmission in my 2008 volkswagen r32 have been very jerky, or come with a clunky feel and noise. also have tried to downshift from 6th gear, down 2, as vw recommends when passing on a highway, and the car will either hesitate for a few seconds before it finally decides to shift, and then i still have no power for a few more seconds until the transmission decides it wants to send power to the wheels again. i have taken the vehicle in question in on numerous occasions for the problems, and all the dealer says, is either they cannot reproduce the effects, or the car has no fault codes, so therefore it must just be me. *tr

Dsg malfunction during normal driving on vw r32 2008: my automobile has erratic movement from a standing stop and at low revolutions per minute (less than 1500 / minute) at low speeds. the motion is a jerking action. the vehicle also exhibits loss of power when gears are lowered and followed by a throttle input. this is seen for example when driving in 6th gear at 55 mph, shifting into 5th and then accelerating to pass on the highway. the engine at that time does not respond with power and the car spends maybe 1 or 2 seconds sorting out how to apply the power. the driving conditions are then normal and operation continues without a problem. the general shifting of the car is not smooth under other operations although it does not stall or lose power. yet the shifting feels unnatural and deteriorated from how it was when the auto was new. the vehicle has now 22000 miles. *tr

The dsg transmission in my 2008 vw r32 sometimes performs very unpredictably. specifically, when downshifting it sometimes disengages for several seconds during which i have no ability to accelerate the vehicle. also, in reverse gear the gear takes a long time to engage, then if backing up-hill, seems to slip. i would hate for this to happen in a situation in which i am trying to back out of the way of danger. i am also concerned because these transmissions are very expensive to repair or replace if problems worsen after warranty period has expired. *tr

When reversing it is choppy/jerky, as if i am pumping the accelerator. the same happens when in traffic at low speeds. also sometimes the car is slow to accelerate as in the rpms's increase but the car is not going any faster. i am stationed in germany and the dealer has a dsg mechetronics unit on back order for the last 2 months. the dealer is the is the one who determined that there was a problem and informed me of the problem. the car has done this since day 1 so i assumed it was normal. *tr

Recently my 2008 vw r32 equipped with the dsg transmission has been suffering a jerkiness and harshness in the transmission shifts. this is especially true while shifting from drive to reverse and vice versa. sometimes the car takes time to react and then does it in an unprecedented and abrupt way. also when the car comes to a complete stop, sometimes when i get on the accelerator y takes time for the car to start accelerating. both of these scenarios happen quite often, and pose a safety concern, since it can cause me to back up into an object or even get stranded in the middle of cross-traffic. *tr

My 2008 vw r32 has an issue with the dsg transmission. it lurches when starting and stopping, makes hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st. on occasion it has selected neutral rather than the next gear, causing the car to slow down in traffic and make drivers behind have to slow down to avoid hitting me. when this happens, the only way to force the transmission to select a gear is to move the selector lever into s or n then back into d. i tried getting the issue looked at and fixed by vw but they claim there is nothing wrong. i fear that eventually i'm going to cause an accident because of this issue. *tr

Jerking and loss of power when accelerating from a stop. seems random, but not easily repeatable. *tr

Bought my 2008 volkswagen r32 about 2 years ago and i've been having problems with the dsg transmission ever since new. many times when 1. the moment before i come to a complete stop, or 2. take off from a complete stop or, 3. switched from reverse to drive, the car would jerk/buck with a clunking sound coming from underneath the car. the rpm would also spike up w/o the car moving and then come back down before the car will start moving. took it in to the vw dealer and they performed a basic dsg setting re-set, but the problem still occurs. many other vw owners are also experiencing this problem in many online forums if you do a search online. *tr

2008 volkswagen dsg transmission issues: harsh shifting in low speed maneuvers, rough shifting sometimes, slow engagement to reverse, slow shifting when coming to a stop causing lurching. *tr

My 2008 vw r32 with the dsg transmission surges forward as soon as i take my foot off the brakes in traffic or stop lights. it will surge forward and then rock like someone dumped the clutch even though there is no manual clutch. the car also is very clunky in reverse, and rocks alot. these problems occur about every other day. i have brought my car to the dealership multiple times and all they do is say that they cant find anything wrong and they reset the dsg settings. this will fix the problem for a day before it starts again. i have told them that i think it is the mechatronics unit and they just say that they don't think it is and never really explore the problem. *tr

Purchased a 2008 vw r32 in october of 08 equipped with the 6 speed dsg transmission. i was satisfied with the car as a whole however recently i have been experiencing some fairly scary issues with the vehicle that i relate to the transmission. often times, when manually downshifting from 3rd to 1st when coming to a stop, the engine will completely lose power and there is a approximately 1-2 second delay from hitting the gas to any type of forward motion. this also occurs from 5th to 3rd or 4th to second. it is quite alarming when you downshift to scoot into traffic or off an on ramp and the car responds with no power. more than one occasion i have nearly been rear ended as the car simply began to coast during a lane change into traffic. i have been unable to get any information from vw and after taking it to the dealer and not being able to replicate it, was told that it was a quirk of the transmission. i feel this is a potentially deadly problem and as my car is leased, i have no recourse in getting out of the vehicle as i will accrue early termination fees and such. i feel something should be looked into on this transmission so that nobody is hurt driving a dsg equipped vehicle. *tr

Rpm pulses or surges at low rpm, when creeping along in d as in a parking lot or in traffic. just when you think you are operating safely at near stop, the car surges ahead pulsing the rpm by about 100 rpm. the symptom has been very repeatable through out the 21k+ miles i have on the car. the dealer has looked at it twice and says this is normal dsg transmission behavior. if i put the car in s mode, it will not do it. they need to reprogram the transmission software so it will not happen in d. i believe this is a safety issue that can and should be fixed by vw. i have talked with several other owners of this transmission/car and they experience the same. *tr

When i first bought my 2008 vw r32 it was a decently smooth riding car. after a few months it got really rough. when i start moving from a complete stop the car jerks back and fourth 1 or 2 times roughly. this happens 100% of the time. also, the car slams into first gear really hard when slowing down to a stop making all passenger's bodies shift forward from momentum. it feels like i slammed on the brake. also sometimes from a stop when i put my foot on the gas, the car hesitates before slamming into gear after 2 or 3 seconds of not responding to my throttle input. this has scared me in a couple instances because i almost got into a rear end collision from someone behind me not paying attention and almost slamming into the back of my car. luckily i knew that my car had this characteristic so i reacted quick enough to accelerate in time to get out of their way. from what i understand, this is a problem with the mechatronics unit. and many people have had success fixing the problem by getting a replacement mechatronics unit installed. almost everyone i have met with the same car has the same problem i do. something needs to be done to fix this or people are going to be going to the hospital for whiplash from rear end collisions or worse. *tr

I bought a brand new vw r32 from elindsay vw dealer at dulles va. after buying the car i had to take it back for some minor problems and they were partially resolved to my satisfaction. around 8000 miles (couple of weeks ago) car started to feel jerky. today the car stalled on me two times at the light. i called the dealer back reporting the issue and the customer service.i can not trust if this happens and my brakes or engine does not function. i feel that this car is putting my and my loved ones' life in danger, as well as the people on the road. please guide me how to handle this issue. i would like them to get the car back. vw customer care reference #809100936 - took the car for service february 9th and received it back feb 9th with a software update - feb 10th drove the car in the morning and problem was still there - feb 10th called the dealer to make an appointment. their top tech was going to be at training so they made the appointment for feb 16th. - february 16th i took the car second time for the same problem. tech was not available to test drive the car so they sent me away. after an hour or so they called me stating that they could not find any problems with the car. i went down back to dealer to test drive the car. their top tech was not available so i test drove with another technician. i was able to replicate the issue several times. head tech came afterwards and tried to assure me that everything is normal. i left the car in dealer for next morning test drive. - february 17th nobody contacted me from dealer so i called them around 1pm . they said there is nothing wrong with the car. i left the dealer with no resolution. - february 20 car started to stall when moving the foot from the break pedal. i tried to call the dealer several times to make an appointment. regards, *tr

My vehicle has stalled twice on me when it had 6647 miles. it occurred twice in a span of two hours. i was driving and the car started to hiccup. it jumps between shifts, this occurs mostly when it is humid outside. the vehicle also emits a loud ticking sound from the gas tank, and in extremely cold weather the gas needle bounces. took it to the dealership 4 times and they found no problems, however they did take a joyride two of those times in the car. (found the radio station set and equalizer toyed with) in addition, the car sometimes smells like fuel. *tr

When attempting to accelerate to execute a lane change, the car became non- responsive by hesitating (apx 2 sec) after shifting from d to s (sport mode). also, the car hesitates and jerks often when shifting from p to r or n to d.

*tr

In my 2008 vw r32, with the dsg transmission during low speed acceleration the car buckles kind of like if driving a manual and you don't push in the clutch and then depress it quickly, basically it has had rough shifting, and rough clutch engagement. *tr

My vehicle is a 2008 vw r32 equipped with a complex transmission system called dsg. the events that are leading up to a failure are; vehicle jerking while taking from a stop, engine speed dropping and car lurching forward all in a sudden while trying to accelerate in a traffic or a light or any other stop situation. the other day at the lights i almost hit the vehicle infront of me because of this issue. it is not possible to accelerate smoothly because of this problem. car was taken to vw service and told that it is normal behavior for this kind of transmission which is an unacceptable solution for this serious issue.

*tr
