EXTERIOR LIGHTING

When turning a corner, the engine stopped, steering stopped working and lights on dashboard come on. this happened a second time two days later. took to independent mechanic and he checked all work he had done in the past plus checked the whole car out and he could not find why the car stopped. two days later the car again stalled out when in traffic - engine stopped, steering stopped working and lights on dashboard came on. last two times this happened i was driving on a straight road. this has happened 5 times now in the last week. all times engine stopped working, i was driving between 10 and 40 miles per hour. after researching this problem, i found out that my vehicle had been recalled and at 53,333 miles the fuel pressure sensor was replaced by the dealer. now 42,000 miles later it appears that it is once again the fuel pressure sensor. this is very dangerous especially since i do a lot of highway driving and also live in an area where children have been know to run out into the street. not only is there a possibility of a car accident, but also the possibility of a child being hit if i cannot turn the car quickly to avoid the child. at this point i am afraid to drive the car and fell very unsafe even though volvos are know for their safety. after reading numerous reports of many people having this problem with their 2004 s60 volvos it makes me wonder why volvo is not correcting this problem on all 2004 volvo s60s that are having this same problem. my mechanic is checking on this problem and will replace next week if this is the real issue. sometimes doors lock for no reason at all. also i have had to replace the rear lights on this vehicle several times. seems much more than normal.

Purchased auto new. it would seem that i have had some of the same problems mentioned by others. car stalling on highway at 65 miles per hour, twice, very scary. pulled off and restarted. (fuel pressure sensor malfunction) seems there is a recall however when i inquired my vin # was not included. costly repair as must purchase part from dealer. driver side head lamp, low beam, has been replaced so often lost track, over half a dozen times, is out now! have never replaced passenger side lamp! i point out the other s60's i see on the road with a headlamp light out to my kids as a game now.

2004 volvo s60 regularly serviced by volvo. bought new, well maintained, exc cond, & oil changed ever 3000 miles. only 68k miles presently but many problems since bought new. #1) replacing burned out rear/front headlight bulbs constantly. #2) check engine light came on before 40k miles. wasn't too concerned at first because only issue i seemed to have was hesitation somewhat when accelerating after being parked. until one day veh wouldn't accelerate beyond a roll after being stopped for red light. a few days later driving approx 50 mph uphill car stopped accelerating and stalled. both times i was able to roll to side of road, restart & make it home. scared me enough though to take to volvo next day. fuel sensor gauge needed to be replaced. when i checked if covered under recall - found my car wasn't based on vin, another fairly costly repair. #3 - ac fan wouldn't go off one day - fan running full blast & control switch wouldn't regulate or work. fan continued to run even when i turned off ignition. dead battery next morning needed jump start. ac fan modular bad - modular repair done & then fan somehow burned out due to new modular when mechanic testing repair - now fan needed to be replaced. very costly repair once again. #3 - check engine light came on. after months to several mechanics, checking oil, etc. told light probably just faulty. then check oil light blinks - car had less than 1/2 qt oil & i had major engine damage. had complete engine rebuilt & very expensive. engine running great. now 2 mos later & i hear a metal to metal noise/sound when making turns - preferably right hand - & coming from rght front side of car. mechanic can't see safety issues when up on rack. has no clue. noise annoying and concerning. it sounds like wheel is going to fall off car. i am sure it will cost another fortune . however once repaired - trading in. i loved my car...however no longer feel veh is safe or depen. *tr

Bulbs continuously burns out causing errors that cannot be readily fix by the owner. bulbs such as for headlights, turn signals and rear lights burn out constantly. we are averaging a bulb replacement every 2 months. *tr

About every 2-3 month when i go to start my volvo s60 the front left light blows out. i have had my car for a little over a year and have had to replace the headlamps 5 times. the first time i changed the lights i did not wear gloves so it could have possible been my fault. everytime after i have worn gloves to change the lights and still have the same problem. *tr
EXTERIOR LIGHTING - HEADLIGHTS

Consumer noticed that the right front headlight lamp was inoperative. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic informed the driver that the head lamp blew out and needed to be replaced. it would cost the consumer $1,200.00 to get it replaced. please provide further details. *nm a pebble from the street made a small hole in the glass in front of the headlamp. moisture intruded into the lamp casing. due tothe heat intensity of the lamp, it short-circuited. the design of the head lamp system does not allow for the swipe replacement of the lamp. the hole in the glass causes need for the entire $1200 system to be replaced. *bf
