Headlight switch malfunctioned. daytime running lights were not working in the second position. in the third position headlights and interior lights were suppose to come on. however, the headlights came on, but dashboard lights did not come on. if the switch was between position 2 and 3 interior lights came on. this was not the normal position for the lights to operate. *ak

As you can see, i have repeatedly had headlights and turn signal lights burn out on a brand new car. the personnel at the dealership have repeatedly advised me that volvo knows there is a problem with the v70's because the socket and the lightbulbs are not compatible. i have written to volvo asking for replacement of all of the exterior lights and never recieved any response. the dealership agreed to do that under its goodwill warranty. this was done on 4/19/2000. it has not resolved the problem as another signal light has just gone out. it seems to me that volvo, which is perfectly aware of the problem, should recall these cars so the their owners don't have to return to the dealership every month to replace a lightbulb.

Car has approx. 15,300 miles. when activating the turn signal (left) the interior indicator flashed rapidly. the front exterior turnsignal bulb would flash dimly. the dealer determined that a contact on the interior of the light socket was charred and replaced the bulb and socket. this problem has also occurred on my 1998 volvo v70 wagon. *ak
