| Defect Summary | On certain trailers equipped with sealco spring brake control valve assemblies incorporated in arvinmeritor axles, part nos. 110700 and 110800, there is a recessed area on top of the valve in which a brass guide pin fits down inside the body of the valve and is held in place by a steel snap ring. the recessed area allows accumulation of water, dirt, and/or chemicals to build up behind the snap ring to the point where it will no longer contain the guide pin resulting in a failure of the air valve. | |||||||||||||||
| Consequence Summary | Failure of the valve in an empty or lightly loaded trailer while the vehicle is in motion could result in a hard application of the spring brakes, possibly locking up the trailer wheels and resulting in a vehicle crash. | |||||||||||||||

| On june 28, 2007 i purchased a 1999 dodge intrepid from arnaldo garcia he told me the engine had been rebuilt and he said the car was in good working condition. in july 2007 i began to have problems only 14 days after purchasing the vehicle for $2900 in cash (as he requested) i have a receipt with his name and signature stating that i paid him cash. as of august 12, 2007 the car no longer works. i have contacted him on august 16, 2007 and he refused to give me my money back or fix the car. *jb | |||
