Defect SummaryWinnebago is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 winnebago view and itasca navion motor homes because the dinette area seat belt restraints on those vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 210, seat belt assembly anchorages. in a collision, the generated crash forces can cause the restraint's attachment to tear and allow the anchor to separate from the body of the vehicle.
Consequence SummaryIf the restraint separates from the vehicle during a crash, the belt will not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury or death to the occupant.
Corrective SummaryWinnebago has not yet provided a remedy and an owner notification schedule for this campaign. owners may contact winnebago at 1-800-537-1885.

Winnebago has filed defect report 07v-163 which outlines winnebago's intention to install secondary latches on the affected cargo doors of the affected vehicles.odi believes that the proposed secondary latch will provide a more reliable latching system (1) for owners who may inadvertently fail to secure the primary latch and/or (2) as a redundant retention means for situations in which a cargo door becomes misaligned, distorted, and/or damaged in a way that compromises the integrity of the primary latch system.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

In january 2007 i was driving my 2006 winnebago view down i-95 to orlando florida. somewhere in georgia the turbo failed and the check engine light came on and i could not go over 60mph in traffic flowing at 75mph plus. it was very dangerous. i took the winnebago to a dodge dealer in orlando and after 6 days of unexpectedly staying in a hotel they repaired the problem. this same instance happened this weekend in september of 2008. i stopped for fuel and i was driving on the garden state parkway and accelerated and the same problem happened again. immediately the i knew exactly what it was and again the turbo failed and the throttle was extremely sluggish and i could not go over 60 mph. in stop and go traffic it literally takes 30 seconds or so to accelerate 10 mph in some instances. this is a design flaw and a dangerous situation. furthermore in another instance water spilled into the electric panel underneath the refrigerator in the rv and immediately causes sparking and an electrical fire. we were driving down hill with company and three dogs and the fire was eventually extinguished. i have had many problems with this machine since purchasing it initially and it is not worth the money paid. this vehicle is a poor design and i have only had it for 2+ years and i have had 20+ problems that have needed to be addressed. the bottom *tr

Driving down the road, and turbo resonator cracked on 2006 itasca navion (doge sprinter chassis/mercedes diesel). this has happened twice, resulting in deceleration necessitating stopping and calling service, or if you continue to drive, progressive deceleration until the vehicle quits moving altogether. not very safe at all, and this should be addressed by the manufacturer who, like toyota, continues to ignore this common, not coincidental, poor part design. warranty replacement isn't enough after failure and near death! let's get some action: write your state's attorney general and the better business bureau with copies of mercedes. this needs to be exposed!

STRUCTURE

I suggest you look at the new line of rvs from winnebago, called the vue and the navion in their itaska line. according to the stickers in the ones i saw, they have a net carrying capacity that is under 350 pounds. that is the weight of two average adults. there is therefore no room for any clothing, food, or other items; truly an overloaded unsafe design. *nm
