| Defect Summary | Navistar is recalling certain model year my 2001-2008 workhorse w20, w21 and w22 chassis and certain model year 2009 through 2011 monaco rv admiral, arista, monarch, and riptide recreational vehicles equipped with axles that include bosch zops or zoht pin slide hydraulic disc brakes. when combined with occasional or seasonal vehicle operation may experience calipers sticking in the applied position. this can result in abnormal heat generation at the wheel end causing brake drag. the driver would normally have warning of the brake drag if undetected by the driver. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2006 monaco coach monarch se rv. with a workhorse w20 chassis. he referenced recall 09v110000, service brakes, hydraulic and stated he had the recall work performed on october 26, 2010. he stated the dealer gave him back the vehicle with the left front brake rotor cracked and the pad had 30 percentage left. he stated the other brakes are at 70 percent with no cracks. he was upset that the dealer gave him this vehicle with these issues. he has called the manufacture workhorse but they will not return his call. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileage was 24,000. vwb | |||

| While driving on the dc beltway in traffic, the brake pedal went to the floor without stopping. pumping the pedal gave enough power to stop vehicle. abs warning light also came on. stopped vehicle on side of road. brakes were very hot. disconnected car we were towing and attempted to continue. brakes did cool off and returned to normal operation. we had previously towed the car without any problems. rv was taken to an authorized shop about 5 miles from campground. they said they knew about the problem and could patch it until workhorse came out with a fix. *tr | |||

| The steering on my 2007/2006 workhorse w-20 chassis is extremely/dangerously loose in that it is very difficult to drive safely during minimal environmental conditions of winds and passing vehicles. i compare this vehicle to three other motorhomes with workhorse chassis and 110,000 + miles of accident free driving. *nm | |||
