Tl*the contact owns a 2008 yamaha xv1900 (na). while the contact was riding his vehicle with his wife seated behind him, he struck a bump in the road. the quick release sissy bar and arm rest assembly that locks to the motorcycle became detached. his wife almost fell off the rear of the vehicle, but, luckily, she was able to grab on to her husband and avoid injury. the contact pulled over and went back to get the assembly that detached. they continued riding and came across other bikers with twist ties, which were used to hold the assembly to the motorcycle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were able to duplicate the failure. the dealer stated that they ordered the necessary parts for the repair and would call the contact when they arrived. the vehicle has not been repaired. the speed was unknown. the failure mileage was 2,800 and current mileage was 3,021.
