I was alone in my vehicle, and had just parked at my destination. i was leaning back in my seat reaching for my seat belt release when the seat broke free allowing for a rocking motion. i inspected the seat myself when i returned home and discovered that the frame steel supporting the bottom of the driver's side, 6-way power seat fatiqued and broke, allowing the rocking motion to occur. fully clothed, i weigh less than 160lbs and felt the metal failure must be due to a defect. i contacted the chevrolet customer assistance center (01-feb-1999) and was given file number 990054464. adrian, the chevrolet representative taking my call told me that they could not assist me with the replacement of the seat due to the age and mileage on my vehicle.
