 When attempting to stop the van, the wheels locked up and the van slid through the intersection. wheel lock-up has happened multiple times, abs is hit-and-miss.

 When braking for a red light and moving into a left turn lane, the abs brakes went off uncontrollably for no apparent reason. i had a very hard time braking and had to put my entire body weight on the brake pedal to stop my vehicle. i actually had to extend my leg and stand up on my brake pedal. i am glad i was going rather slow, around 15 m.p.h. because i almost hit the car that was waiting at the red light in front of me. i really thought my vehicle was not going to stop. now i am extremely afraid to drive my car. thank you.

 New is gm is recalling the chevy truck anti-lock brakes. i have a 94 astro two wheel drive van. i've reported serious problems where the vehicle doesn't stop. does this recall include my vehicle? also; i feel anti-lock brakes should be an option. anti-lock brakes are for people who feel the need the protection if they pannic stop. most people acquire the feel of a vehicle and the ability to control it. anti-lock brales do not operate properly if someone pumps the brake or applys increasing ammounts of preasure to avoid an accident. anti-lock brakes must have hard consistent pressure to stop a vehicle saftly without having the tires skid. in other words the driver must pannic stop. this is aganist most drivers natural instinct.

 Driving vehicle; heard a noise coming from left rear drum. at home, took brakes apart & notice at top it was disintergrating into pieces at 1st rivet road. checked opposite side it had the same problem. will be taken to dealer.

 On november 21st, 2011, i was driving my astro van on a straight road. the vehicle in front of me applied their brakes. i also applied my brakes, but my foot slipped off the brake pedal. i attempted 4 times in a panicked state to try and re-apply my brakes with no success. i struck the vehicle in front of me. after considering what had happened that day and looking at the brake pedal size in the vehicle it is no wonder i couldn't readilly re-apply the brake. i measured the brake pedal surface area. it is approximately 4 sq. inches. i have since been looking at other vehicles and the size of their brake pedal surface area. i have yet to date found such a small brake pedal in any other vehicle. i have driven this van thousands of miles and know without much consideration the pedals location without looking, but in a paniced state i found you loose that reference and it simply comes down to an increased or decreased chance of hitting that pedal given surface area.

 While applying the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. the consumer was able to stop by pumping the brakes more than once. the consumer was able to drive it to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic informed the consumer that the problem could not be duplicated. please fill in additional information. *jb

 Brakes pull when applied sometimes pulls right,other times pulls left. brakes were significantly rebuilt by previous owner. now having same problem. is gm aware of this defect and what is remedy? wife was also involved in major accident august of 2001 in a 1993 chevrolet astro with similar problem, yet dealerships report no bullitens or recalls. i have found one on your site and another bulliten through anohter source. is this another ford/firestone style cover up????*aky
 Abs braking system fails to stop vehicle in a timely manner when applied. motor is catching and then it is releasing. have not been to a dealer to let mechanic check brakes out. *ak

 Was pulling out of driveway and making a left hand turn heard a loud noise. vehicle pulled to right, could not pull to left. had applied brakes, vehicle hit a lamp post, and then a house due to a lack of braking power. abs brakes had failed. would not stop vehicle. vehicle was totaled. *ak

 Windshield wipers either do not work when turned on or fail while driving. anti-lock brakes fail when using on rough road surfaces.engine makes loud rapping noises then runs very bad / stalls/ shakes.

 Module failure caused vehicle to drive right when initially applying the brakes, at any speed. the harder the stop, the greater the severity of the diving to the right. driving situation would go away after the left side brakes would engage. failure was unexpected, no warning light or other warning device indicated a problem. computer readings @ dealer did not give error codes, but replacement corrected the problem.
 Intermittently when the brakes are applied vehicle pulls to the right/vibrates and skids, resulting in extended stopping distance. manufacturer has been notified. *ak

 While driving at any speed and applying the brakes, the abs system kicks in, causing the abs system to fail. also there is vibration within the front tires. *ak
 When the brake pedal was used, it would be mushy & go to floor. this caused extended stopping distance. also, gas gauge indicator would flop off and on/ air conditioner & electric windows failed to work,and abs brake light was on. had to shut down vehicle & then restart it. an intermittent problem that was getting worse. speed has not played a factor in problem. taking vehicle to dealer. *ak

 Drove out of driveway and abs brake light went on and would not go off. shut car down and restarted. light went off but as i drove out, abs light went back on. took to dealer said it was the abs computer that failed and that i would have to replace it because it was out of warranty . regular brakes are functioning properly, but i do not have abs brakes. estimated cost to replace abs computer $1300-$1400.
 When applying the brakes, owner has to use excessive amount of pressure in order to make the vehicle stop. dlr has not seen. *ak

 While driving on a slight hill, with cruise control set at 67 mph, vehicle accelerated to 75 to 83 mph before driver was able to stop it. applying the brakes did not disengage the system. after pulling the vehicle in overdrive, it began to slowed down. dealer has been notified about the problem. the vehicle has not been checked. please provide any further details. *ak

 A hydralic brake failure caused a significant increase in stoping distance and resulted in an accident. upon examination at the body shop it was discovered that the left front brake hose had failed as a result of friction abrasion of the brake hose. the splashshield has an opening for the brake hose. the left front brake hose is only partly shielded by an rubber sleeve. this sleeve covers the brake hose and the sleeve extends from the point where the brake hose is connected in the engine compartment to the splashield -- a distance of about three inches. where the hose passes through the splashield, the brake hose is unprotected. there is clear evidence on the brakehose of abrasion wearing to the point where the splashshield wore a hole in the hose. this appears to be a design defect for which a service bulletin or recall should be initiated.

 Dt: the consumer stated that while driving at 30 mph the metal brake line had burst on the left front driver's side of the van without any prior incident. the line broke as the brake pressure was applied. the consumer avoided a collision and was able to pull over. the brake pedal was pushed all the way to the floor. the consumer's husband drove the vehicle home with the emergency brake applied. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who confirmed the problem with the brake lines. the mechanic replaced the entire brake line. since the repair, there have been no further problems. *ak (11/29/05) *sc
