 Driving with cruise control on at 65 mph, car veered to right shoulder suddenly, steering locked up, car jumped out of cruise control, leaped forward/ over median, rolled 5 times, side door came off, driver seriously injured, 2 passengers died. *ak consumer states cruise control appeared to have dropped out and then restarted.*jb

 Intermediate link missing grease fitting although the hole was drilled.. location for fitting not visually accessible unless mirror used. missing grease fitting caused water to gain entry to ball joint and cause premature failure. this vehicle was greased at least twice at dealer who should have picked up missing grease fitting. assumed manufacturer using lifetime sealed joint as have seen some from gm. vehicle regularly greased either by owner or dealer. clunking noticed in steering. owner has replacedpart and original is available from owner if needed for inspection.

 Vehicle pulled to left at all times when applying brakes. vehicle has been taken to dealership 11 times. dealer replaced front shocks/ idler arm/ resurfaced rotors/did wheel alignments, and replaced tires. currently, dealer said remedy would be a complete brake job. none of the mentioned repairs remedied problem. *ak

 While driving at approximately 40 mph torsion bar broke, causing driver's side front end to drop on top of tire, consumer was unable to turn steering wheel. dealer claimed it was normal for torsion bar to break. *ak driver had two previous failure of idler arms. also had wheel rotor failure. *yh

 Idler arms had be replaced every 40,000 miles. the first time idler arms were replaced was at 36,000 miles. another set was put on at 77,000 miles. steering is very loose. dealer is aware of the problem. first set was replaced under warranty.*ak *ml

 Problem: font end shakes so badly that you can't control the vehicle when brakes are applied.when applying the brakes at speed of 40 and above the vehicle front end shakes so badly that you have to take your foot off the brakes to keep control of the vehicle. this causes the stopping distance to be extended far greater then it should be. also this shaking has caused me to replace the idler arms . if it was not caught in time they would have broken loose, and total control of the vehicle would be lost.(put in shop on these dates for shaking in front end when brakes are applied. this started 6/8/98 @29407miles dealer resurfaced front rotors cost 73.20. in shop again 9/4/98 @32946miles. dealer resurfaced rotors again no charge. shop 10/21/98 @34520miles dealer replaced rotors and idler arms no charge. in shop 12/9/98 @36746miles shop need rear breaks that is problem with shaking in front end. cost 244.52. in shop 12/11/98 @36750miles shaking again shop resurfaced rotors cost no charge. in shop 3/23/99 @ 40500miles shop called on 3/24/99 need rotors resurfaced and tighten idler arms, cost unknown at this time. this is a very serious problem in the breaking system that could cause serious injury to anybody on the road because before you can come to a compleat stop you have to remove your foot from the breaks and reapply the breaks again causing the breaking distance to shorten greatly. also since the shaking has cause the idler armes to be replace once and tighten again there is know telling when they will break loose and total control of your steering will be lost. as you can see there is pattern showing from the repair dates that this problem will not go away it just comes back after a couple of thousand miles. i have notice in your data base that there have been 2 other reported problems like mind. odi id 825208 and odi id 805773

STEERING - LINKAGES - TIE ROD ASSEMBLY

 Was driving home & heard a loud bang. steering wheel tilted to left. did not have a lot of control of vehicle. vehicle taken to service station where mechanic indicated that tie rod end had snapped. manufacturer had redesigned tie rod end and replaced it. *ak the problem continued and both left and right torsion bars were found to be the cause. *yh

 While driving in center lane at 70 mph the tie rod end just suddenly fell off.the roads were clear and there were no potholes. *ak

 The consumer has been experiencing problems with steering column. the consumer stated that the ability to switch high and low beams came unloosened; a pin fell out of the steering column. the manufacturer has been contacted. *ak
