FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

I have a 1998 chevy astro van that qualifies for a expired warranty for gm that is related to a defect in their fuel injection system that causes them to stick open or closed. i was never notified by chevy about this problem and was not properly diagnosed by a mechanic until this year. the bulletin/warranty number is: 99066e and it states that all repairs relating to this problem would be covered no charge to the vehicle owner as long as it's within 10 years or 200,000 miles. so, i'm 3 years out of warranty and i have 217,000 miles. it doesn't seem right that chevy never contacted me about this and i've had to pay for numerous repairs related to the fuel system in this vehicle over the years without that could have been avoided if i had my fuel injection system fixed. these vans are known to run up to 450,000 miles. the operation of my vehicle is vital in this economy. i really would appreciate this warranty extended to me. i have contacted chevy/gm and they just read the warranty back and deny me repair or tell me to get it fixed at the dealership. why should i have to pay for a repair that there is a warranty that states that they are at fault and it's related to fuel deposits in california fuel?

Roblems that i have listed are only the icing on the cake. i have several other problems and such as : oil coller inlet, rear main seal, extention housing leaking.my front end alignment wanders, problems with keyless remote and factory alarm.roof rack was improperly installed, cigarettte lighter falls out, glove box light switch defective, raido speakers not propertly installled. when tensioner failed, there was a loud noise from the front end,so i decided to get off the busy road to find out where the noise came from. my steering also went out;i had my children with me on a busy road speed limit 45.i went to make a left had turn and had extreme difficulty in turning my wheel. i had to unbuckle my seatbelt; to pull on the steering wheel with all my body weight, and still couldn't make the turn, i had to back up and try to turn again.i continue to have frontend, window, fuel injection, doors not wanting to lock and unlock properly and i still continue to have these problems. i feel that this chevrolet, astro is a very unsafe vehicle to be driving. any info you can give me on this vehicle would be greatly appericated. thank you laurie hoekzema. *ak

Comments: i read where nhtsa has started an investigation into this problem. i have a 1998 astro awd pasasenger van with the same symptoms (started at 50,000 miles, currently has 67,000 miles. i pulled the fuse so i at least have brakes at slow speeds. i nearly ran into my garage and am concerned becauase we live near railroad tracks. have rolled into intersections beacause of this safety problem. abs engages at slow speed which allows vehicle to keep going (renders to brajes useless) there is a tsb by gm on this shown below. my concern is that this vehicle is not listed in your investigation. this is a serious safety issue. brakes - antilock brake activation at low speeds file in section: 05 - brakes bulletin no.: 02-05-25-006a date: december, 2002 technical subject: antilock brake (abs) activation at low speeds (clean wheel speed sensor mounting surface) models: 1999-2000 cadillac escalade 1995-1999 chevrolet silverado (old style) 1995-2000 chevrolet suburban, tahoe (old style) 1995-2003 chevrolet astro van, blazer, s10 1995-1999 gmc sierra (old style) 1995-2000 gmc yukon, yukon xl (old style) 1995-2001 gmc envoy, jimmy 1995-2003 gmc safari van, sonoma 1995-2001 oldsmobile bravada this bulletin is being revised to change model information. please discard corporate bulletin number 02-05-25-006 (section 05 - brakes). condition some customers may comment on abs activation at low speeds usually below 8 km/h (5 mph). upon investigation, the technician will find no dtcs set. cause the cause of this condition may be an increased air gap between the wheel speed sensor and the hub reluctor ring due to rust and debris built up on the sensor mounting surface. correction
