While traveling at highway speeds the accelerator pedal became stuck. vehicle continued to accelerate in a run-away mode. vehicle was eventually stopped through combination of brakes and traveling into mud. upon stopping it was noticed that the front brakes were flaming - most likely due to excessive heat.

My 2000 chevrolet astro has an accelerator that does not stop its acceleration when the gas pedal is released. depending on the slope of the road, the vehicle may gain speed until it is shifted into neutral. it is not a big event on dry roads, but yesterday when it happened in the snow, it almost caused a crash. i have had it serviced by different dealers 3 times and am still having the same problem. it is ready to be picked up after taking it in again yesterday for the same problem. it does this on occasion, but very often after being on cruise control. *tr

Chevy 2000 astro, cuts out while driving. we even pushed the van into a chevy dealer and they could not tell us what it was after hooking it up to diagnostics. we figured it was the coil wire. recently the van has been bogging down when it is under load. also, when it rains it runs rough. we took it to a shop and they replaced our fuel filter. it ran fine but still cuts out sometimes running up hill. so we changed the spark plugs. if you let the van sit over the weekend with out driving it, the van was really hard to start. until finally it just wouldn't start at all. in addition the door locks sometimes work and sometimes don't . the driver side window is very sluggish going up you actually have to help it by pulling up on it. we keep blowing fuses when we use our cigarette lighter to charge our cell phone. it really needs help. *tr

Sirs, i recently had to replace the fuel pump in the fuel tank of my 2000 chevy all wheel drive astro van, because it contains the sending unit that controls the fuel gage on the dash, and that funtion failed. the pump had begun to make a loud noise. i have retained the old part. the bill for replaceing the pump, with labor, came to $560.46. i priced a complete dell dimension 2400 computer system, including shipping and it was only $494.00. this is out ragious having to pay $560.46 for an auto fuel pump. where can i get relief? this is a ripoff and it must be stopped. thanks, michael coleman seaque@citlink.net. *ak
