| Door catch and lock failure. the driver's door will not completely latch, thereby preventing the door from closing completely and securely/tightly and staying tightly closed. this vehicle has had and currently has other locking and latching problems with the passenger door and the tail gate. attempts to get the general motors corporation to acknowledge that there are systemic safety problems with this vehicle's locking and latching mechanisms have been unsuccessful. even though general motors corporation refuses to acknowledge/repair these locking and latching problems, they insisted on creating a file for this product safety issue. that file number created by general motors corporation is 1-194571737. the locks/latches should not be a problem on a vehicle of this age and with only 93466 miles on it. *ak | |||

| Passenger side defroster does not work. i was told this was a normal characteristic of the truck and it was not a problem by bufford ward chevrolet in quincy illinois 62301. it is nearly impossible to see out of the passenger side of my windshield when the weather is bad or there is ice on the windshield. there are vents for the defroster and hardly any air comes out of them. the drivers side works fine. i checked two other 1998 chevrolet trucks on the lot and they both had the same problem. i feel this is very unsafe. i am an illinois state trooper and i handle many accidents because of obstructed drivers view. i would appreciate your earliest response. | |||
