| Tl*-the contact stated that he had a problem with smelling fumes from the 2000 chevrolet corvette. when approaching the vehicle he could smell the fumes coming from the vehicle. the contact stated that he was informed by the service mechanic at jn chevrolet, that the right exhaust pipe was too close to fuel tank which caused the tank to heat up and expand, and that caused the smell of gasoline. the contact has had 3 repairs done to the vehicle because of these fumes. they replaced the fuel cap, and the o2 sensor. the contact found out that he needed the fuel tank replaced on 10/20/06. the contact stated that the dealership ordered the tank at that time, and as of 2/16/07 had not received the fuel tank. the contact had called the dealership on a number of occasions ,and they continue to tell him the tank hadn't arrived. the contact called the manufacturer and they informed the contact that it shouldn't have taken this long. the current mileage was 40000.*ak | |||

| 1. the right front wheel weights flew off on the drive home from the dealer after purchase. the rear wheel weights flew off , first the left and then the right, while driving at night, slamming into the inner fender liners. the rear end began to bounce dramatically, as each wheel had over 4 ounces of weights on them. wheels are the extra cost magnesium wheels. 2. on a trip, the gas gauge suddenly dropped to empty, from 3/4 full, and the dic alarm (low fuel) went on. pulled into a gas station, thinking i was out of fuel. i could only put in 4 gallons! 3. steering column lock would not release and could not steer car, but car did start and go into gear ! i think this is the most serious failure as one may not notice that the steering column lock was on and actually drive off, but when attempting to turn vehicle could only go straight, as straight into sombody!! help!!!! ref. in ea02-031 *cjs | |||

| 1) steering column lock issue 2) fuel cut off ** was driving with my 12 year old daughter . stopped for gas 65 miles from home and at 11pm. after getting gas i went to start car would not turn over / start. after several tries it finally started but information center above steering column said service steering column lock and would not allow me to drive more than 2 mph before shutting off fuel and killing the motor from running. had corvette towed to my office. finally got home at 2:30 am. called chevy dealer, was told that it had a recall that pertained to the problem , recall done in 2007 and that even though it was the same problem the chevy dealer would not fix it again even though i told them the recall had not been completed because the steering lock plate was still installed and the recall specifically stated the dealer was to remove the steering lock plate. said nothing they could do and estimated it to be $900 to $1200 to fix. said to call recall center which said tuff luck car still not running. i don't know why they said the recall fixed the problem just to have the same problem and say i have to pay to fix this time even though it is the same problem as before the recall ? are they kidding me ? help !!! *tr | |||

| This car has been nothing but problems, steering has locked on me 2 times which i was late for work both times, and is a saftey concern , what if i was in a bad area to be stuck??? the dealer says nothing is wrong with the car but when checking the nhtsa.gov sites there are tons of cars with the same problems. chevrolet has gotten rid of the steering lock in 2001 and 2002 why is that because it doesnt operate correctly. the tire pressure was always off on each tire. my fuel gauge is always wrong. not to include my engine ticks very loud and the dealer says nothing is wrong with that there is also oil leakage and consumption problem. i just want my $50k car fixed. if this does not get resolved i will have to take this a step futher and review legal options. thank you. nhtsa for your help.*ak ref. in ea02-031 *cjs | |||

| While traveling on trips 21/2 hours or more my low fuel light comes on and it appears to be out of gas, the indicator shows empty, but it is not. after reporting to the chevrolet dealerships service manager he informed me that this was a technical issue already noted but not a recall issue yet. i was told it was a sensor. i fill this needs to be a recall on this issue, we have spoken to other corvette owners and they are having the same problem with their vette. does this warrant a recall? *tr | |||

| Fuel gauge inaccuracy. when fuel gauge gets to about 1/4 tank, it will drop to empty setting off low fuel alarms. gauge was repaired 9/24/02. again on 11/29/02 it happened again. the same components (sending units) were replaced for the second time. i am a member of corvetteforum.com and see this problem has been on going since 1997 when the c-5 corvette was introduced. it is still happening on the 2003 models with one owner having it occur at 800 miles on a 2003 model. can't get chevrolet to repair the problem so it won't come back. chevrolet doesn't seem to have a fix for the problem after 7 years of building the c-5! i need some help in getting this issue resolved before my warranty expires in april 2003. ts | |||
