On 6/17/10, my wife attempted to drive our 2000 chevy corvette mileage 46,494, when service security column came on and pull key wait for 10 seconds was displayed. several attempts were made to comply with this so she could drive off, but each time she started in 1st gear the vehicle would shut off. vehicle was towed to a repair shop where they have certified gm mechanics and they advised me of a saftey recall that was put out reference this issue and my vin fell within the series of vehicles recalled. i contacted a chevy dealership in annapolis, md and gave them my vin. they advised that all recalls had been completed on that vehicle, specifically recall#04v06000. they could not advise when it was performed and what dealership did the recall. i have read several different solutions that seem to have been done and currently in the proess of some how finding out who did the recall on my vehicle.

Column lock on 200 corvette failed, immobilizing vehicle. this device was subject to several prior recalls, but the replacement's design is still defective. chevrolet dealer said that the recall has expired, so i had to pay for tow, parts/labor, and time off work. this amounts to nearly $1000. since this is a safety-related design flaw, the recall should be reinstituted and i should be compensated. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet corvette. the contact stated that the doors would not lock from the door panel, only from the key remote. secondly, the ten second key delay began to activate and the horn blew out. while the mechanic was repairing the horn, the vehicle went into column lock. the repairs have been made, but the contact is concerned that the steering column may lock while driving. a relay harness was removed from the vehicle and he does not believe it should have been removed. the purchase date was unknown. the current mileage was 54,410 and failure mileage was 54,011.

Passenger power door lock does not unlock. the lock does lock, but in order to unlock the passenger door it must be done manually or by the key hole outside.*ak because of the new updated lock versions both actuators on the driver side door lock and passenger side door lock must be replaced in order for both locks to function together. estimated cost to replace locks $1200.
