| Defect Summary | Gm is recalling certain model year 2005 and 2006 chevrolet corvette passenger cars manufactured between march 2004 and january 2006 equipped with a tilt and telescoping steering column (rpo n37). in rare cases, repeated movement of the steering column may cause a signal interruption within the column. if this occurs, the message, service active handling system will appear in the driver information center, and one or more of the brakes may apply, possibly causing the vehicle to pull to the right or left. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Certain passenger vehicles may have been built with a power steering hose that is not to specification. under extreme steering maneuvers, such as turning the steering wheel fully to the left or right while braking, the hose may fracture and leak fluid. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet corvette. he stated that the service active handling light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the steering wheel position sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced, the repair was done. however, the failure recurred at 44,000 miles and at that time the dealer placed a clip on the steering wheel position sensor to keep the wire connector stable. the vehicle was taken in for the recall number 10v172000: steering column. the dealer advised that the vehicle had received the remedy, however, three days later the failure recurred. the dealer was contacted who informed him that the wire connector was faulty but not the sensor. the contact stated that the wire connector and sensor was faulty and the dealer was misleading. the manufacturer was contacted and he was advised that there was nothing they could do. the failure mileage was 33,000 and current mileage was 66,000. | |||
