| Turn signals only work some of the time and make a loud buzzing noise sometimes you can make them work by pushing the four way flashers but it is only a temporary fix.. i believe this is a serious safety issue and there should be a recall for this problem. there is also a clunking noise coming form the steering column/front end. | |||

| Traffic signals constantly fail to work, used to be able to push hazard light button and they would come back on, now hazard lights won't work either. have almost had 4 accidents because blinkers failed to work, have almost been cited by the local police until i proved it was a mechanical failure. can't afford the cost of repair, because i had to pay out of my pocket for catalytic converter replacement when it failed, though it was a manufacturer defect, because gmc and dealer wouldn't make it good, and the engine shut down completely. *nm | |||

| Replaced power steering pump, r/r transmission, replaced alternator and low tire pressure. vehicle was damage while in service shop. *bf the vehicle had malfunctioning signal lights. the consumer stated that the engine was repaired for a coolant leak. the engine light came on. the steering wheel was set to the left. clock not set. windshield washer light came on. the consumer stated that the left finder was damaged as well as the console. the right bumper was damaged. the driver door shakes. a whinning noise is heard from the vehicle at highway speeds and while turning. the consumer witnessed the service dealer testing his vehicle and saw shifting foward very hard and back very hard tires screaching. smoke coming from the tires. the tail pipes were shaking as well as the rear end. the consumer stated that the time was used up on the vehicle onstar cell phone'; return true; onmouseout=window.status=''; return true;>cell phone'; return true; onmouseout=window.status=''; return true;>cell phone. the consumer stated that the headlights will not turn off. smoke came from the vents inside the vehicle. the consumer stated that something bumps the door while the vehicle is in motion. the steering wheel shakes when brakes are applied. *tc | |||

| I have intermittently working turn signals. i have contacted my local dealer on numerous occasions. there is a recall on the hazard switch that affects the same year of manufacture products that have the same problem as me, intermittent turn signal loss. i have followed the advice of the dealership, that, when this occurs, lightly press the hazard switch, and then if the turn signal starts functioning, that means i have the same defective switch as the other affected make of chevy cars that are under recall. well, lightly pressing the hazard switch does makes my turn signals function normally. according to a gm plant employee, my car has the same electrical components that the other cars under recall affected models have. why is my car not considered under recall? the dealership will charge me to have it repaired, until this is a recall issue. *nm | |||

| Over the past couple of months we have noticed that the turn signals on our 2001 monte carlo have started failing. they will be fine sometimes, and then out of the blue they will stop working. this problem sometimes lasts for just a few minutes, and recently we have gone for days without them working. after calling several dealerships and local mechanics we have learned that they have fixed alot of this problems, and are getting complaints about these turn signals. one gentleman told us it could be the hazard switch, but probably is the turn signal. this truly is a safety concern of ours considering we are never sure when we hit the signal if it is going to come on, or fail us again. *ak | |||

| I have a 2001 monte carlo ss that i purchased about 4 years ago today. my complaint is about the turn signals not operating all the time. they will shut off while you make a turn while traffic is behind you, hopefully i will not get rear-ended some day. this has been happening for several years now and the people whom i spoke with also have own a monte carlo ss complain about this to. so i am not the only one that's having this problem. this is a very dangerous mechanical defect and needs special attention asap before some one gets injured or killed. what concerns me is that there has never been a recall on this automobile and addition there has been many complaints that i am aware of. need assistance with this dangerous defect asap. *tr | |||

| Since purchase of car with 34,000 miles in march of 2002, there have been several problems. check engine light came on around 50,000 miles, had it checked was given the code for temperature sensor. had sensor changed, within six months light came on again. when checked was given same code for temperature sensor so i had it replaced a second time. now periodically while driving the temperature gauge will drop completely and when turning off the ignition the fan will continue to run. the only way to stop the fan is to either unplug the fan or unhook the battery. randomly when trying to start the car it will not start as if the battery is dead, but the radio and all lights still work. had this checked but no problems could be found. after waiting for about ten minutes the car will start. the only explanation i was given was that maybe the computer system thinks i am attempting to steal my own car. then there are the turn signals, when you turn on the signal it will work for a few seconds then stop. the only way i have found to make them work again is to turn on the hazard flashers for a few seconds then turn on the signal again. there have been so many problems with this vehicle and with no warranty left it is rather costly and frustrating. *jb | |||

| On my 2001 monte carlo i have intermittent turn signal lights. they work when they want to. had the issue a few a handful of time under warranty dealer never could make it fail now it happens daily. i have read hundreds of similar complaints on auto websites about all models of chevy with these problems and all chevy wants to do is replace the signal switch for $400 plus dollars per car. based on what i have read it seems that a serious investigation into this for a possible recall is warranted. *tr | |||
