| This investigation involves the general motors corporation (gm)throttle body (tb) utilized in model year (my) 1999-2002 silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, avalanche and yukon (subject vehicle(s)) with 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines. the tb valve may intermittently stick in a closed position.in such a situation, an operator may apply additional accelerator pedal force to increase engine speed.the application of additional accelerator pedal force, to open a stuck throttle valve, may open the throttle valve more than intended and, in turn, accelerate the engine and vehicle more than intended and reasonably expected by the driver.on august 1, 2002, the office of defects investigation (odi), of the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), opened this engineering analysis.the investigation revealed that two factors may cause the defect: 1) tb manufacturing process problems; and 2) accumulation of deposits (a pcv system by-product) on or around the tb throttle valve and bore.odi concludes that the tb performs in a defective manner after analyzing gm | ||||||

| When we first noticed the accelerator sticking, the dealer would not look at it until they could duplicate the problem so we literally had to smash our foot on the accelator to get the vehicle to accelorate. at times we were trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic and the accelerator would stick in the middle of the intersection at which point the dealer could reduplicate the problem and the throttle plate was cleaned. approximately 1-2 months later it began showing the same symptoms only this time it is taking longer to completely stick. it was explained to me that the dealer will not be reimbursed for the parts by gm if they can't prove the accelerator sticks first. my question then is do i have to be killed by an oncoming semi while trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic before someone will fix my vehicle properly. my next question is am i the only one complaining about this. someone needs to take a closer look at this problem and fix it before a fatality occurs. my last question is what causes this problem. i have heard a variety of excuses that throttle plates get dirty, a new car shouldn't be doing that, etc, etc. help!!!!!( dot number: tire size: 16 ) | |||

| Gas pedal sticks if foot is removed for any reason, be it coasting into a turn, starting out from a stop. speed of vehicle does not matter. when the foot pedal engages there is sudden excelleration, cause passengers head to wipe forward. on icy conditions this has become a danger in itself. at the gas station inching up to pump it has locked up and lunged forward almosting hitting a vehicle in front. i have notifed the dealership. i have also spoke to three other people who have this same, year, make and model and all say they have the same problem. two of them have had repairs done on the gas pedal. window on driver side (electric) was being rolled up half way up window cable broke and window slammed down inside door. both passenger and drivers doors seem loose when rolled down as you can hear them rattleing inside. controls are intermittent and when temperature drops below 30 degrees don't work. passengers window 11/17/2000 wont not go up or down during temperature below 30. vehicle was not subhect to elemints as it was inside for repair to driver window. new motor and regulator need after 1 1/2 years. dealer informed no information. *ak | |||
