 (1) it was 22 degrees outside and i went to turn on my heater while pulling away from the house. there was heat coming out but it was not blowing and the heaters control adjustment knobs were not clicking into place. no air was blowing from the front panels or to any panels. i couldn't even get the defroster to operate. i checked all the fuses as per the vehicle operators manual and all fuses were fine. on friday, 04jan08 i called turan foley chevrolet-cadillac-buick dealership where i had bought the truck back in january of 2005. i spoke to the service department supervisor and explained the problem. he advised me that it was my heaters resistor box and that it had melted. he also advised that he had seen at least 7 trucks that week alone for the same problem and that every 2-3 out of every 10 trucks has been having this problem but that no recall has been placed for this part yet. (2) the resistor box and the pigtail connector had both melted. i left my house in texas and returned to mississippi on almost a 700 mile trip w/o any heat in low 20 temperatures. (3) the dealerships service department replaced the malfunctioned parts with: connector part number15862656 for $95.00 and the resistor part number 89019088 for $50.62 and then charged me $120.00 for labor on 1-1/2 hours labor costing me $289.56. my warranty did not cover it because it expired 2,656 miles after my warranty of 36,000 miles at 39,456. i contacted the chevrolet recall center and inquired as to if a recall had been issued and they advised not at this time. if you check the internet though and talk to the service departments on this problem, you will see and hear that this is a continuing issue. *tr

I own both a chevy silverado and suburban 2005. both vehicles will randomly start blowing hot air out the driver's side. i know at least 5 other people that have 2005 chevys and their vehicle does the same thing. i tried working with the dealer and chevy and both act like they never heard of the problem. chevy refuses to acknowledge that this is a defected issue on their part and want over $1000.00 to fix the issue. is there anyway you can get government motors to issue a recall? *tr

Tl*- the contact explained that last winter she was driving in her 2005 chevrolet silverado when suddenly the driver's window exploded ,almost causing a crash . the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. the dealer sent consumer to a glass repair shop where the glass was replaced. the consumer had to pay for the repairs out of pocket. yesterday the truck was parked in the driveway. no one was in the truck . the consumer went outside and the driver's side window exploded again. the glass was replaced for a second time and the consumer had to pay again. the consumer is requesting an explanation as to what was causing this failure. no one at the dealer knew why this happened. the consumer felt that the dealer should pay for the repairs and attempt to find the cause of the failures. *ak updated 2/22/2007 - *nm

Drivers-side outside rear view mirror shakes excessively, rendering it useless. dealer replaced the mirror, but stated the problem was most likely with the aftermarket bug shield on the hood. after replacement the mirror still shook. i removed the bug shield, which took care of the problem. dealer stated that a gm bug shield was designed not to cause the disturbance that causes the mirror to shake.

Outside rear view mirrors have a blind spot at the rear bumper area. mirror must be repositioned, for backing, each time to view area, and then repositioned to drive forward.*ak

Cold air blowing instead of hot air and could not defrost windshield. had to pull off road and scrape inside of windshield. this has occurred several times over the years where hot air is coming from passenger side and cold air coming from drivers side. very dangerous if you cannot see through the windshield as windows fog or freeze up. *tr
