Defect SummaryThe right steering tie rod can rub through the automatic transmission wiring harness causing a short circuit which results in electrical system malfunctions including engine stalling and an inoperative park/starter interlock system.
Consequence SummaryElectrical system malfunction causing stalling while in motion or an inoperative park/starter interlock system, which allows engine start while the transmission is not in the park position, may result in an accident.
Corrective SummaryInstall a revised wiring harness bracket and a plastic convoluted sleeve to protect the transmission wiring harness.

 Tl* - the contact called regarding the 1994 chrslyer concorde. the contact left the vehicle warming up, and when he came back to the vehicle approximately 10 minutes later smoke coming from under the hood. the contact opened the hood and there were flames. the contact put the fire out. there were no injuries. the contact was not sure if the vehicle was totaled. the failure mileage was 181,000. the contact took pictures of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop. the manufacturer denied the claim for reimbursement. the contact stated that there was a recall in 1999 and that the recall work was done. the recall was for the fuel injection system.

 While driivng all of a sudden electrical system malfunctioned, resulting in steering wheel locking up/ no brakes, etc, vehicle just died. driver was able to pull vehicle to the side of the road and restarted vehicle. this happened about 3 or 4 times last week. the vehicle is being checked by dealership for problems. please provide further details. *ak
