I took my sebring in for brakes and they put new pads on. they ask if i wanted an oil change. i didn't need one so they said they would change the computer to take the reminder off. when i left the dealer, my radio no longer worked. i told them i would bring it back on monday. i parked my car on sat morning and didn't start it again until mon morning. well, the battery was completely dead! not a gauge, idiot light or anything was working. i finally got a hot shot to start it and i left to head for the dealership. well the transmission would not shift out of low so i had to get it towed to the dealer. after the car was unloaded, the mechanic got in and turned the key to get the mileage and the radio just came on. the dealer worked on the car the next day and said all that was wrong was the battery had a weak cell. i said hogwash! there was a short or a computer problem somewhere. it's the dead of winter and it's been very cold, the car had never even turned over slow before this. i could almost swear that a dead short was draining the battery. i guess my question is, where could the short be? are there wires anywhere around the front wheel well that could cause this problem? or could the mechanic have done something wrong with the computer taking off the reminder? the guy suggested we never turned on the radio and i was driving around in manual low. i was flabbergasted. i've been driving for over 40 years and used to be a mechanic years ago. what are they missing? has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
