Defect SummaryVehicle description: motor homes equipped with slide galley option. the certification labels do not show the proper tire pressures. these pressures are below the required pressure for load carrying capacity.
Consequence SummaryUnder-inflation of the tires can result in tread separation.
Corrective SummaryNew labels with the correct inflation pressure specifications will be provided to owners. owners will be instructed to adjust the tire pressure specifications to the new correct requirements.
NotesOwner notification began december 15, 1999.owners who do not receive the corrected label and installation instructions within a reasonable time should contact country coach at 1-800-547-8015. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

Defect SummaryCertain motor homes fail to comply with requirements of fmvss no. 120, tire selection and rims for motor vehicles other than passenger cars. these vehicles have an inequitable weight distribution between the front left and right tires on the front axle. this weight inequity can cause the left front tire weight rating to be exceeded.
Consequence SummaryThis could cause premature front tire tread wear or tire failure during normal driving. the premature tire tread wear or tire failure could lead to a loss of steering control.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the height control valves and the height control valve configuration reversed to remedy this noncompliance. owner notification began may 14, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact country coach at 1-800-452-8015.

Defect SummaryCertain motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 120, tire selection and rims for motor vehicles other than passenger cars. these motor homes were erroneously assigned inadequate cold tire inflation pressures and inadequate axle weight ratings on the front and/or rear axles as a result of mathematical miscalculations.
Consequence SummaryThis could cause premature tire tread wear or tire failure during normal driving. the premature tire tread wear or tire failure could lead to a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the front and/or rear tires. in some instances, the motor homes may only have an inadequate fawr and/or rawr stated on the federal tire label and only the federal tire label will be replaced. owner notification is expected to begin august 28, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact country coach at 1-800-452-8015.

RQ00002COUNTRY COACH INC01/04/200011/30/2000INCORRECT SPECIFICATION OF TIRE PRESSURE00V324000
Country coach filed a noncompliance information report on october 21, 1999, for 448 class a 1998 and 1999 model year allure and intrigue motorhomes in which the tire placard information required by fmvss 120, was incorrect and could result in the under inflation of the tires.country coach made the determination after 12 reported blowouts due to underinflation of the tires.country coach's investigation discovered that the inflation pressure specifications were incorrect for the motorhomes.the original pressures were not enough for the weight of the motorhome and subsequently led to the blowouts.the subject vehicles are those motorhomes equipped with slide out sections, in which a portion of the side or rear of the motorhome that can be extended outward from the vehicle.this would increase the weight on the side the slide out is located.this investigation is opened to evaluate the problem experience, scope, and the impact of slide out sections on disproportionate axle loading.

Odi is upgrading this recall query (rq) and opening an engineering analysis (ea05-011).country coach has identified 21 incidents of front tire failures (16 driver's side and 5 passenger side) that have occurred in model year 1995-2000 country coach intrigue and allure vehicles after these vehicles had been modified in accordance with one or more service programs / safety campaigns (99v-288, sb00-01, 01v-170, and/or 02v-229) that were intended to correct inadequate front tire load carrying capacity in the subject vehicles by replacing front tires, changing the recommended front tire pressures, and/or reducing or redistributing the front axle loads.on may 6, 2005, odi received one additional owner complaint (voq 10124716) alleging that the driver's side front tire installedin a 1997 intrigue vehicle had failed on april 12, 2005.this vehicle's front tires had been replaced in may 2001 inresponse to country coach campaign 01v-089.odi intends to conduct further investigation to evaluate whether the campaigns (listed above), which were intended to correct tire failures, are adequate and/or effective.

On june 30, 2006, country coach filed defect report 06v-262 stating that the toyo 275/70r22.5m102z tires are defective and could fail unexpectedly causing a loss of vehicle control.odi's investigation found that front tire failures have been caused by country coach's selection of tires that provided marginal load carrying capacity for their intended application.owners were frequently unable to comply with country coach's campaign requirements because these requirements were ineffectively communciated and because specified tire inflation pressures were difficult for owners to achieve and maintain. odi also found that the rubber properties of the toyo 275/70r22.5 m102z degrade with time. the degradation in rubber properties does not provide any obvious indications to the vehicle owner and the tires become more susceptible to failure over time when subjected to thevehicle operating conditions described above.
