We took our vehicle in to the authorized dealer on may 21, 2003 because the check engine light came on & didn't go off. they said they checked it & they thought we had left the gas cap off & caused the light to come on & charged us $55 for that information. in september of 2004, we received a letter explaining a recall on our vehicle citing the check engine light coming on & staying. we took the letter along with the vehicle into lipscomb auto group & they looked at the letter & said the vin# didnot match our vehicle & they would do nothing. it states in the letter that if you saw the dealer before 2004 about the problem, they should fix it. it is 2005 now, the check engine light is still on. luckily, we have not had a fire or burned wires, but no guarantee that it wont happen at sometime. can you help us with this? our vin# is klavb6921yb276198. no, it is not listed in the vin#'s, but it does have a problem with the check engine light & has had since 2003.

Tl* - the contact owns a 2000 daewoo leganza. she stated that therewas a safety recall and it applied to this vehicle. however they will only replace the harness free of charge , one could see that the wires were beginning to melt, but not the camshaft that it was attached to, which no longer had the bolts or the clip, which held the camshaft in place. she purchased the vehicle with an odometer reading of 80,000 miles , and shortly thereafter she began smelling a burning smell and fumes, and then the engine light turned on. she stated that the smell of fumes and something burning usually happened at higher speeds. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer 04/02/2007 because it began hesitating and losing its power when she tried to accelerate. the current mileage was 135,000. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 daewoo leganza. the contact received safety recall notice number 01v180000 (structure frame and members). on june 20, 2007, she took her vehicle to the dealer to have the safety recall repair made. she also wanted to know why she had to keep adding antifreeze in the vehicle. after the dealer diagnosed her vehicle, they stated that the timing and serpentine belts had not been changed since she purchased the vehicle and needed to be replaced. the dealer found no failure regarding the antifreeze. upon arriving home that evening, she noticed antifreeze leaking from her vehicle and it was overheating. she returned to the dealer that same evening and a dispute arose regarding the repair work and the engine cover lock that was broken. the end result was that the contact did not believe that the dealer made any of the repairs for which they charged. the purchase date was unknown. the current mileage was 75,000 and failure mileage was 72,653.
TIRES - TREAD/BELT
06/01/2005107/05/2000
We purchased 4 new tires from les schwab. one tire fell apart while being driven at highway speed. the tire whipped my car and sliced the left side of the car cutting the side and rear bumper areas. also, it tore out the rear left tail light. the car was thrown out of alignment. i reported it to les schwab who sent me to the manufacturer, continental tire north america. in charlotte north carolina. they requested 2 estimates, the tire and a claim report. i also reported it to my auto insurance company. per my insurance. the damages were more than my car is worth ($2700.00) so they will not pay for repairs. the offered to pay the current blue book value to me. continental tires contacted me and stated that the tire was not found defective, and offered me my $500.00 deductible along with a release and settlement agreement. my car was in great shape prior to the damage done by the tire. you expect new tires to wear out or go flat but never to fall apart where the tread fell apart and cut your car. i still own the tire if needed for inspection. also, legs schwab charged me for a new tire. i believe the tire was defective. it seems i lose either way.*ak
VISIBILITY - DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM
06/15/200311000100
Dt: the defroster in the car is making the windshield invisible. the car windows are fogging up all the way around. consumer is having to sit an wait on the windows to clear before she can drive. also, she is having to wipe the windows down with paper towels before she can drive. dealer informed consumer that the car was made like that, and that was the way it worked. consumer was worried about moisture problems that could occur later. consumer has to use the rear defrosted in the summer to evaporate some of the moisture from the window ,and it leaves little thin lines on the windows. when it is really moisture more foggy it gets. *ak
