AQ10001CHRYSLER GROUP LLC11/18/2010Fleet Vehicle Recall Completion Audit
The agency, particularly in recent months, has been informed of incidents involving allegations of personal injury and death claimed to have been caused by safety defects and failures to conform to minimum federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) on rental car vehicles for which a safety recall to remedy the safety defect or noncompliance had allegedly not been performed prior to the rental car company's lease of the vehicle.nhtsa understands that there is presently a petition before the federal trade commission (ftc) seeking to prohibit at least one rental car company from renting vehicles on which safety recall campaign remedies remain outstanding.the purpose of this audit query (aq) is to investigate recall remedy completion by rental car companies on the above-listed safety recall campaigns.these campaigns were chosen due to their inclusion of vehicles used in the rental market.this information is expected to provide the agency an indication of how completely and how quickly rental car fleets, in general or individually, perform necessary recall-related repairs or other remedies on the vehicles owned and then leased for use on the roadways.this aq is opened.

The problem lies with the transmission that came installed in the 2006 dodge caravan. i am having a problem accelerating as low as 10mph on up to 65mp. it is not quick to accelerate. at times i feel as though there may be something wrong with the engine. i feel as though the car may have a hard time accelerating or like it may stop running or like it may explode. it is a hazard to my health and alarming to my kids as i use it to transport them to school. i have brought it to the dealerships' attention. i have looked on the internet only to find the problem with the transmission is not just my problem. it has been the problem of many other consumers. i have contacted dodge dealership only to find because i was not the original owner who purchased the vehicle i am not able to have it replaced under the limited powertrain warranty which covers the transmission. i purchased it in october-november 2009. it had 39000 miles on it at the time of purchase. it has always rode hard. i am finding although it is a 4 cylinder engine, it takes alot of gas. it is costing me a great deal as a single parent who uses this vehicle as my primary mode of transportation for myself and my 4 daughters

Water leaking onto the passenger floor board and carpet of our 2006 dodge caravan and in researching regarding our situation, i found that other year models that were built had an improperly installed part in the heating and cooling system causing this matter that is apparently a manufacturer issue and other year minivans had been recalled because of the risk that a water leak in the air conditioning system could trigger the airbags, risking injury to passengers. i just want the vehicle fixed properly as we had noticed a potential issue two years after the vehicle was purchased, but at the time it wasn't leaking bad, well it has gotten worse, saturating the passenger floor, when the a/c is on and in fla we utilize the air quite a bit. please let us know where we stand, as dodge corporation is saying there's no recall on our 2006 model, but the problem is the same as what others have been reporting.

I bought a 2006 dodge caravan in 2009. it had 20,000 at that time. shortly after purchase we drove the van approximately 100 miles. it began making roaring noises so i pulled over and stopped. after sitting for about 20 minutes, i started the car again and there was no noise. every time i traveled for over 45 minutes, this would happen. i took the car to be looked at several times but no one could find a problem. finally in january of this year the car started making this noise all of the time and my son-in-law, who is a mechanic, said that it needed power steering fluid. that fixed the problem for awhile. in march, i took my car in and was told that the rack and pinion needs to be replaced! very expensive! the car is now only making noise when i go through standing water. also, the airbag warning light illuminates at intervals. it seems that a lot of people are having these same complaints. i think that dodge needs to do some recalls and some repairs!
