| I have a '99 malard 26m travel trailer (vin # [xxx]) with a dometic rm2652 (serial # 85100049) refrigerator in it. the refrigerator failed so i starting shopping for one and came across a recall for dometic rv refrigerators. i contacted dometic regarding the recall and they told me that they will not pay to repair or replace the unit. the unit failed due to a crack in the boiler tube and all of the amonia frefrigerant leaked out. this could have caused a fire. dometic claims that they will only pay for a modification to the unit only after i pay to have it fixed. the recall notice listed on their website says in paragraph 6 if you previously paid to repair or replace a dometic refirgerator that failed due to this defect, you can be reimbursed for your costs pursuant to dometic's pre-notification reimbursment program. i have talked to several people at dometic and they refuse to pay for repair or replacement of the unit. this unit failed due to this known defect which is a potential fire hazard and i believe dometic should at least pay for most if not all of the costs associated with the replacement of the unit. i have ordered a new unit because i need one but would like to know if they can help pay for the replacement. any help you can provide would be appreciated. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr | |||
