Tires on my f150 show abnormal wear on the outside edges. ford says this is due to the suspension. ford does not have a fix. i claim that this is a suspension issue, not a tire issue. i have since bought a new checrolet tahoe. could this issue be related to the tire issues on current ford suv's? i think that the tires are not the problem rather ford supspension is the problem that causes abnormal tire wear and heating of the tires, esp. in texas. this wears the outer edges of the tires, eventually causing the outer tread to fail or seperate from the tire. this is a definate problem on the ford f150 trucks, and i think it applies to the explorer.*ak (tiresize: p235r15)( dot number: tire size: p235r15 )

While driving down the interstate on sunday aug 6, 2000, i started hearing a loud noise coming from the rear end of the truck and it start shaking and vibrating violently. i pulled off to the side of the road and investigated. i found that most of the tread had separted from the right rear tire only leaving a portion flaping. air was still in the tire and i manage to drive to my mother house that was not far away. there was signicant damage to my truck, the two tailpipes was bent upward, the bed of the truck had a hump from the impact and the rear fender was completely torn and crushed from the impact. i called firestone about their tire and talked to someone from product liability. they sent out andy corneil from custard insurance adjusters p.o. box 531288 birmingham al. (205)871-1023, fax (205) 870-4019 to investigate my claim. i have taken the remaining firehawk tires off my truck and replace them with goodyear tires. i also replaced the exhaust pipes. i have pictures that andy corneil took and he gave me a receipt for my tires and rim, so he can send it back to firestone for them to perform some kind of non-destructive test to determine cause of failure. at least this is what mr. corneil to me. as of the submitting of this report, i have not heard back from firstone. appreciate any help, sincerely, joshua holderfield( dot number: tire size: 31x1050r15 )
