Defect SummaryForest river is recalling certain my 2003-2006 motor homes, fifth wheel and travel trailers equipped with a two-door refrigerator manufactured by the dometic corporation. the refrigerator may have a defect in the boiler tube. pressurized coolant solution could be released into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.
Consequence SummaryIf this solution is exposed to an ignition source under certain specific circumstances, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective SummaryForest river is working with dometic to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. to manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or forest river at 1-574-389-4600.

Defect SummaryNavistar is recalling certain model year my 2001-2008 workhorse w20, w21 and w22 chassis and certain model year 2009 through 2011 monaco rv admiral, arista, monarch, and riptide recreational vehicles equipped with axles that include bosch zops or zoht pin slide hydraulic disc brakes. when combined with occasional or seasonal vehicle operation may experience calipers sticking in the applied position. this can result in abnormal heat generation at the wheel end causing brake drag. the driver would normally have warning of the brake drag if undetected by the driver.
Consequence SummaryThe temperature increase at the wheel end can eventually lead to soft pedal conditions due to brake fluid boil, and possible extended stopping distance increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryWorkhorse dealers will replace all four bosch brake caliper assemblies free of charge. the safety recall began on september 16, 2010. owners may contact workhorse at 1-877-246-7731.

I had a 2005 forest river georgetown motorhome that was destroyed by a fire that was caused by a defect in a dometic rv refrigerator. i was unaware of a recall until after the fire. i received an official recall notice from dometic 9 days after the fire had happened. the local fire marshall's office and a fire inspector specialist heard b y my insurance company both concluded the refrigerator started the fire. once i new what to look for, i was able to find the crack in the boiler tube mentioned in the recall notice and took some pictures on the unit. my unit was not operating on propane but was plugged into shore power to keep the coach batteries changed and the refrigerator on as i had a few times i was keeping in the refrigerator. on sunday morning, december 7th, my unit was destroyed by a fire. i have been going through the pains of trying to get the unit paid for and personal property paid for by my insurance company. i am now waiting on the bank to send info for my gap protection as insurance did not fully pay for the unit. i feel dometic should be held accountable for this and at a minimum, replace my motorhome as it was a defect in their product that resulted in my loss. i have obtained an attorney as of this past friday to see what my options are at this point. the recall initiated by dometic does not actually address the defect but rather just installs a couple of safety items in an attempt to reduce the potential of a fire. the refrigerator could still fail from the actual defect. this appears to be a design flaw that dometic needs to address. *tr

Our motorhome front cap moves when using the levelers.the right windshield has broken twice and the left broke while sitting in a storage lot on level ground.(levelers not extended)i informed the forestriver retail warranty people and they act as they have not heard of this problem.they told me to bring it by the shop and they would take a look at it. only one problem.they are over 2000 miles away and the motorhome cannot be driven with broken windshields.they also said that using the automatic levelers can put a undue twist to the front cap and cause this problem.if that is the case.why have that feature installed?this is a major manufacturer defect. it should be repaired by the manufacturer.

We purchased a 2005 forest river georgetown model 359xl motorhome in march 2006. we have had the left side windshield crack from the top corner 3 times within the past year. all 3 times the windshield broke while we were parked in a campground. now the right side of the windshield is pulling out of the frame. the motor home is not safe to drive in this condition. in addition the roof leaks around the windshield on both sides. contacted the manufacturer forest river and was told the only remedy is to drive it from georgia to indiana and they will look at it. i will need to replace the windshield at a cost of $1000 in order to do this and the windshield will most likely break during the trip. this is unacceptable. *tr
