| Defect Summary | Certain federal-mogul national and carquest aftermarket hub assemblies, p/n 515058, sold for use on 2001-2006 general motors 1500 and 2500 4wd trucks. on the subject hub assemblies, the abs sensor cord departs from the hub assembly at a 90 degree angle. as a result, there is a fit issue with the brake rotor dust shield interfering with the abs sensor cord. if the hub assembly is installed despite this interference, the gap between the abs sensor and the tone wheel may be altered. this may weaken the output of the abs sensor. diminished output could result in an unwanted abs activation at low speeds and stopping distance could be affected. | |||||||||||||||

| Dt*: the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle was hit by another vehicle on the right front side over the tire. there was no pre-braking before the impact. the front driver and passenger air bag did not deploy. although all occupants were wearing their seatbelts, there were two occupants injuried. there was no warning light illuminated prior to the crash. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer who determined that there was no sensor in the middle of the truck. pictures were taken and a police report was filed. the manufacturer was not notified. | |||

| I bought this truck from dealer with 40151 miles. i have this truck from 2007 to present time with the mileage at 51,000 miles. the truck has been used for personal use only. i feel that there should be a investigation into this problem because this will effect millions of gm trucks. this problem will cost over $1000. to fix because of possible fire,engine failure, emissions problems, other very costly problems that will relate to the bolts breaking off from defect on the exhaust manifold. this can cause very serious problems. (this is as serious as the toyota car problems or worse). i also think with the new air emissions standards these trucks will not pass the inspections. because of the exhaust leaks on the motor. there is no doubt i feel this should & can be a class action suit. gm knows of this defect of the bolt but still no recall. why must it take someone to get killed or hurt before they fix the problem. i don't have thousands to fix this problem & now when i drive i am worried about the truck going on fire. gm must do the right thing to correct the problem the caused. please keep me informed. thank [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr | |||

| Second brake problem, second of three brake line problems from rusty brake lines and brake line failure while stopping and lose of brakes, needing to use emergency brake to stop. all remaining brake lines are completely rusted and need to be replaced for safe driving. this is completely unacceptable and are unsafe driving conditions. brake lines should never fail from rust, period. | |||

| When coming to a stop the pedal went to floor and had no brakes. luckily i was able to swerve and miss the vehicle in from of me. but had to run through the four way stop and was blessed to have no other vehicles in way. the brake fluid was leaking from under the driver side about where the seat is. upon investigation, the lines are all corroded and rusting. obviously it only takes one to leak but all need to be replaced. this is such a surprise because this truck sits in the garage most of the time and has very few miles on it. | |||
