Gmc 2500 2005
Model 2500 made in 2005 by Gmc got 18 consumer complains there are 2 recalls as well as 11 service bulletins. Consumer complaints with reference, among others things, to brakes, exterior lighting and fuel system, gasoline. | Defect Summary | Mobilityworks is recalling 133 my 2005-2006 ford e250, my 2000, 2004-2006 e350, my 2000, 2005 e450, my 2005-2006 gmc 2500, gmc 3500, and my 2006 dodge 2500 vans equipped with ricon platform style wheelchair lifts. these lifts fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 403, platform lift systems for motor vehicles. the anti-stow interlock may not detect the presence of a wheelchair or mobility aid user. the pressure sensing switch that detects the presence of weight on the platform was not adjusted to the necessary sensitivity level. the lift could stow even though someone or something is still on the lift. | |||||||||||||||

| Defect Summary | Certain federal-mogul national and carquest aftermarket hub assemblies, p/n 515058, sold for use on 2001-2006 general motors 1500 and 2500 4wd trucks. on the subject hub assemblies, the abs sensor cord departs from the hub assembly at a 90 degree angle. as a result, there is a fit issue with the brake rotor dust shield interfering with the abs sensor cord. if the hub assembly is installed despite this interference, the gap between the abs sensor and the tone wheel may be altered. this may weaken the output of the abs sensor. diminished output could result in an unwanted abs activation at low speeds and stopping distance could be affected. | |||||||||||||||

| Factory sylvania running light bulbs to hot and scorching/melting the plastic sockets in gm pickup trucks. 2005 to 2009 that's why you see so many gm trucks including cadillac escalade with one or both of the day time running lights not working the socket has melted from the heat of the light bulb. | |||

| The 2005 gmc 2500hd fwd (well maintained and oiled to prevent corrosion) experienced a failure while towing my 24' pursuit fishing boat (7200 lbs.) home from sturgeon point marina to hamburg, ny 14075 (approximately 10 miles) with minimal stopping capability as the dot 3 brake fluid was being expelled. i had to feature the throttle to negotiate stopping senarios without issue. as of 8/20/12, this vehicle is with fuccillo chevrolet, inc. (grand island, ny) for overhaul of entire braking system; including fuel lines. the certified technician suggested the entire brake lines system be replaced along with the fuel lines due to extreme corrosion. all this work is being performed since the excellent condition of the vehicle.the estimate for this work is approximately $2250 to replace all lines (brake / gas) affected by severe corrosion. this condition is a result of poor material selection not capable of withstanding normal winter conditions found in the northeast. the same standards should be used as selecting exhaust system material. brakes can kill you....exhaust systems can not! final note: truck driven 50 miles per week to work (10 miles each day). during winter months, the residual salt is rinsed as required on a weekly basis (or sooner) to prevent corrosion. this truck prior to winter driving has had oil applied to the underframe, apparently, the brake / fuel line where not adequately treated. *tr | |||
