Defect SummaryCertain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles may experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation. this condition is more likely to occur in environmentally corrosive areas. this recall will be launched in the salt belt states of connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maryland, massachusetts, maine, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia only.
Consequence SummaryThis can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers are to remove the wheel speed sensor and thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the bearing, apply rust inhibitor to the cleaned surface, grease the mounting surface, reinstall the wheel speed sensor, and check the peak-to-peak output voltage to ensure the wheel speed signal is within specifications. the recall began september 22, 2005. owners may contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or gmc at 1-866-996-9463.
NotesGm recall no. 05068. gm revised the involved vehicles by amending the original 573 report on october 4, 2005. gm revised the original 573 report on december 16, 2005, to include additional states and vehicle population.customers may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov.

Defect SummaryThis is not a safety recall in accordance with the safety act. however, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. vehicle description: 1/2 ton light duty pickup trucks. on certain trucks, failure to follow the service procedure set forth in the service manual for removal of the front brake caliper can result in movement of the front brake hose relative to its knuckle mounting bracket. if this movement results in increased length between the bracket and the banjo fitting that attaches to the brake caliper, it is possible for the brake hose to come in contact with the wheel rim.
Consequence SummaryThis contact with the wheel rim could, in time, cause the brake hose to become worn to the point that brake fluid leakage could occur. if this occurred, loss of front brakes is possible.
Corrective SummaryDealers will attach a notice label to the front brake hoses stating that the calipers must be supported when removed.
NotesGm has decided to conduct a service program to install a label on the hose with warning and recommendations to support the brake calipers when removing them.owners can contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782, concerning this program.

Defect SummaryVehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. some of these vehicles have a clearance condition between the front right-hand brake pipe and the body cross sill that could decrease to the point of allowing contact during the life of the vehicle. if contact occurs and the brake pipe becomes damaged, in half of the brake system there can be a loss of brake fluid and pressure. the brake warning lamp will be activated when the brake fluid level reaches the indicator limit.
Consequence SummaryDuring braking, the pedal will be lower than normal and stopping distances will be longer. if this occurs when stopping distance is limited, a crash could occur.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the front right-hand brake pipe for wear. if there are signs of wear, this section of the brake pipe will be replaced with a new designed brake pipe section. if there are not signs of wear on the brake pipe, the dealer will install a spacer clip to ensure sufficient clearance between the brake pipe and the body cross sill.
NotesOwner notification began february 5, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

PE10010GENERAL MOTORS CORP.03/30/201001/05/2011Brake line corrosion failure
The office of defects investigation (odi) received defect petition dp10-003 on march 2, 2010, requesting the investigation of model year (my) 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500hd 4wd pickup trucks for corrosion failures of the vehicle brake lines.dp10-003 was granted and on march 30, 2010, preliminary evaluation pe10-010 was opened on more than six million model year 1999 through 2003 light trucks and sport utility vehicles manufactured and sold by general motors corporation (gm).on july 2, 2010, odi received gm's response to an information request, which included gm's assessment of the frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect. gm stated that:(1) the brake system of the subject vehicles is split front/rear and should a brake pipe suddenly fail for any reason, the affected vehicle would be capable of stopping with the pressure supplied by the remaining circuit; (2) the subject vehicles were designed to meet the hydraulic circuit partial failure requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards 105 and 135, light vehicle brake systems; and (3) should a brake fluid leak occur for any reason, the brake system malfunction indicator lamp (mil) would illuminate and warn the driver before the brake fluid level was low enough to cause a loss of line pressure.odi's and gm's analysis indicates that 85 percent of the complaints occurred on vehicles used primarily in states that use salt on the roads during winter months (connecticut, delaware, district of columbia, illinois, indiana, iowa, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia and wisconsin).overall the complaint rates per 100,000 vehicles for salt belt states is 43.0 and non-salt belt is 3.0.in approximately 25 percent of the complaints the brake pipe failure occurred suddenly, with no warning (i.e., no mil, brake fluid loss warning), and resulted in extended stopping distances.in 30 of these the increase in stopping distance that resulted was a factor in the crash and in 10 others the vehicle was intentionally steered off the road or into another lane of travel in order to avoid a crash.this investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea11-001) for subject vehicles sold or currently registered in salt belt states to further assess the scope, frequency and safety risks associated with sudden failures of corroded brake pipes that can result in decreased brake effectiveness. odi will continue to gather information on subject vehicles outside the salt belt as well.

My vehicle was parked overnight with the emergency brake on. sometime the next day i started up my truck and released the emergency brake, all seemed fine. i then released my foot from the brake pedal to proceed to back up. gave the vehicle a little gas to do so, went to apply the brakes again and had them go all the way to the floor boards. in order to stop i had to allow the vehicle to hit into a telephone pole. no damage to either other than a scuff. this is not the first time this has happened. underside of the vehicle is completely rusted and mechanic says all lines need replacing. going to cost upwards of a $1000. this is a very common failure with this vehicle and something needs to be done to prevent loss of life!

I have a 1999 gmc sierra (new body style) and have complained about the brakes since i bought it in 2002. what it is doing is the antilock brakes will go off anytime i apply the brake at slow speeds and hit a minor bump in the road making the antilock brake trip and lunges forward like i lost my brakes. i was involved in an accident last year were i rear ended a mini van in part i think it was lack of brakes due to the antilock brakes not functioning correctly. two years ago during a small snow i was pulling into park at work and the antilock was tripped and forced me into a dumpster. the brakes are like a sponge it almost scares me at times. thanks for being aware of the problems that gm is having with the brakes. i seen the report on the news so i thought i would tell my story, rick

Brake failure. after slowing or stopping at an intersection or pulling into a parking spot, and after releasing the brakes, at reapplication the brake does not respond. the pedal does not respond, no depression takes place -- it feels like a rock! -- and the truck does not stop. after repeated attempts, the brake will eventually respond, in the meantime it is a hazardous situation.

Continued problems with abs control module, up to and including brake failure. gm is aware, but no recall has been made. this seems to be common with all 1999 1/2 and newer models. according to folsom lake gmc, the problem is common, but fix is offered other than $2000 in repairs at owners expense. this problem did not result in accident for me, but know of several that have occured due to brake failure.*ak

Electronic brake control module failed and continued to run causing my battery to run down. after much research, it is apparent that this is a common occurance for 1999 -2003 gmc sierra's and chevrolet silverados. gm dealerships want nearly $800 to make this repair for a part that was defective in design and in quality. the ntsb and/or nhtsa should mandate that gm recall and correct the deficiencies in their product instead of simply issuing a service bulletin just one month prior to my warranty running out.*ak

Abs module failed, causing pump to run continuously. necessitated removing fuse on abs system which causes brake light & abs light to burn all the time. dealer said my problem, not gm's. truck has been dealer serviced at all required times. i would think a brake system failure, even if a redundent system, would pose a safety issue & repaired by gm. the abs system was standard equipment, not optional to the buyer.*ak

I started my truck up and heard a vibrating noise and the abs light came on. when i shut off my truck the noise continued. i unhooked the battery cable until i determined the problem was the electo-hydraulic control unit. i pulled the fuse and checked with my dealer. the service manager advised me that both parts of the unit (bpmv and ebcm) usually need to be replaced at a cost of approx. 1600.00 for parts alone. this truck has only 42,000 miles on it. i also changed the brake fluid at 30,000 miles in order to avoid this problem. i consider the replacement cost for these parts to be outrageous. the fuse can be left out and the vehicle can be driven without the anti-lock feature working. i consider this a safety defect because very few people will pay this price to have the anti-locking feature restored. in addition, the abs and brake warning light come on and cannot be cleared when driven with the fuse pulled. this can cause a driver to miss other problems that would be indicated by the brake warning light. *tt

While my buddy was backing my boat trailer and boat into the water for me, he yelled to get out of the way, the vehicle was sliding down the boat ramp. he was able to stop before going into the water. i told him i just had the brakes done this fall and he said the brake pedal went straight to the floor. i got in to pull the truck up and the pedal did go straight to the floor. a large puddle of brake fluid was on the ground at the boat launch. i had the vehicle towed to the repair shop and found that the brake lines had corroded so bad, they rusted right through and lost almost all of the brake fluid. the lines were so bad, i needed to get the entire brake line system replaced.

Started vehicle and depressed brake pedal. pedal went straight to the floor. upon investigation one of the solid brake lines had ruptured causing a loss of brake fluid. there was no warning or indication associated with the brake failure it just suddenly failed. fortunately the vehicle was not moving at the time or it would have almost certainly caused a dangerous situation or accident. the cause of the brake line failure was due to rust and and all solid brake lines were found to be severely corroded and needed to be replaced.

Tl*- the contact's 1999 gmc sierra was difficult to stop when applying the brakes. after taking the vehicle to a service center the contact found that the brakes were still not repaired properly. he read in a consumer magazine which stated that the 1999 gmc truck sierra has the worse brakes. there was a recall on the 2000 gmc truck sierra on the brakes, stating that the base brakes would remain fully functional, but the dynamic rear proportioning (drp) system, which optimizes front to rear brake balance would become inoperative. the contact believes that both model years had the same failure. while driving 40-50 mph and applying the brakes the brakes failed. due to the brake failure the contact had problems with the tires as well. it felt as if the wheels were coming off when the contact was braking. *ak updated 2/22/2007 -*nm

In the summer of 2002 my gmc sierras pu truck vin 1gtek14vxxz526539 began to experience brake chater at very low speed. it then began to continue to roll when the brakes were applied. this problem became more pronounced and more pronounced as time went on. i had numerous very close calls with this truck involving buildings, trees and other vehicles. i took it to a local repair shop and they could not find the problem over a two week period. i finally took it to bowser gmc in pleasant hills pa. they repaired the truck by replacing the front hubs and sensors. with this repair and the previous complete brake job including brakes and rotors this episode cost more than $1400. at the time the truck had 36,000 miles on it. on 7/20/05 i began to notice the brake chatter returning. just a slight chatter coming to a stop at red lights on inclines, then on the level and finally on 7/23/05 i almost crashed into my house as i pulled into the driveway. the same problem had returned, the truck now has 47,000 miles. it appears that my $800 hub replacement was done with the same faulty hub assembly. the same problem has returned only in less time. this is not the only problem i have had with the brakes on this truck, i just recently at 46,000 miles had to have the rear rotors and pads replaced due to rusted brake parts. so over the course of 5 years i have replaced 6 brake rotors, 6 sets of pads, two hubs and two sensor assemblies. i have had numerous close calls with this truck coming within inches of crashing into buildings and other cars. at times i have had to throw the vehicle into park to stop from hitting something. i have no other means of transportation and i am disgusted that nothing has been done to rectify this problem since i first reported it in 2002. the nhtsa action number for this truck is pe05020. *nm

Nhtsa action # pe05020 - i submitted a complaint (odi id# 10120245) for my 99 gmc sierra truck last spring for the abs control module failure. you closed the investigation on 9/13, and gm issued a recall. the problem is that gm still charged me over $1000 for the replacement abs control module that failed, causing the loss of abs totally on my truck, per my complaint. i would not have been able to get my truck inspected in vt without the abs working so i had to pay up to gmc to replace the module. was this to be covered or not? if not, why? it seems that this abs module failure is a recurring theme for gm(c) trucks. please respond by e-mail. *jb

Abs activated on dry road while stopping on a slight grade . this resulted in a loss of brakes as if a brake line failed. i shot forward about three feet then all four wheels locked up. after the accident the abs light came on so when i got home i had my mechanic check the codes. the abs control unit was bad but gave no indication until after the accident. the mechanic told me that this wasn't the first time he had someone with a99 - 02 gm truck in his shop with this same problem . for me this failure resulted in $5000.00 damage to my truck as well as damage to the vehicle in front of me (which luckily we also own).i just got a recall notice today almost three months after the accident for the abs speed sensor that causes this same type of malfunction but what about the control unit on the frame rail ? in this case it also failed and costs almost $1000.00 just for the part alone before it is replaced. that's over $6000.00 by the time every thing is fixed. *jb

I was pulling into my driveway, applied the brakes to my 1999 gmc sierra 4x4 pickup truck, vin no. 1gtek19v4xe552750, and i could not stop and hit the rear end of my girlfriend's 2001 chevy blazer. i was advised to contact gm of the accident as there is a recall in canada (product safety bulletin [psb]- front wheel speed sensor corrosion #04094 dated january 25, 2005) for brake failure. gm representatives sent a fact finder to determine if the problem was the wheel sensor. the body damage repair estimate to my truck is $2,902.86 and $1,907.79 to the blazer. the estimates were faxed to gm and we were informed that the report indicated there was a problem but, since the damages were over $1,000.00 the case had to be referred to risk management. risk management stated the fact finders report did not indicate a problem which was contrary to what i was told previously. i requested a copy of the report and was denied as it is considered proprietary information. i informed risk management that a tsb had been issued which they claimed they were unaware of. risk management offered to pay 50% of the damages. i called the original contact person at gm and was told the report indicated that there was not a current diagnostic problem however, the history code shows that the left front wheel speed sensor was missing - dropped out of circuit - indicating that there has been past problems with the wheel sensor. since the accident i borrowed my mother's car and was asked to return it so, i drove my truck through a 40 mph zone, my hood flew open breaking the hinges. i have not had my truck or my girlfriend's blazer fixed as i am uncertain what to do. i feel it is wrong to request my insurance company to pay for damages that are clearly the fault of the manufacturer. in addition, if this type of incident occurs in a crowded area someone could get seriously hurt or killed. i ask for your assistance in resolving this issue for the safety of everyone. thank you. *jb

We parked at a convenience store and upon stopping to park the abs pump started whining and would not shut off even after turning off the engine. service manager at jim fuoco motors in grand junction, colorado disconnected the wires to the abs relay system under the frame of the truck. he said the abs relay module under the frame is faulty and that it would cost over $1000.00 for parts and labor to replace due to faulty diodes on the system. he advised that the truck can be operated without abs system connected and the brakes will operate as the older pre-abs brakes systems did but on icy roads or hard stops the truck may skid and lose traction. the truck had 47,000 mile on it when this occurred. this occurred several months prior and gm still refuses to repair the problem or recall the abs system. i noted on this site that there are multiple complaints about abs failures including many similar to mine. why has this problem not been recalled as a safety issue? the abs systems on these trucks are faulty from manufacture, not from use. are they waiting until someone is seriously injured or dies?

This is for some people that are experiencing breaking problems with 1999 (new body style) and newer gmc and chevy 1/2 ton pick-ups 2+4wd trucks. if your having problems with your abs going off at slow speeds like under 15 mph, have your service shop check your abs sensor located on your hub. if its rusted, the sensor can't tell if your wheel is moving or not and sets it off. i had this problem with mine and had to change the whole hub/wheel ass. on both sides because it's hard to pin point which side was the cause. this can get expensive unless you can do the work yourself. good luck. *la

I have owned this vehicle for about 18 months. shortly after buying the vehicle (certified), i took it to the dealer complaining of what i thought was unusual attributes of the abs system. i was told they could not find any problems. about one year later, in may of 2003, my abs problems became severe, in that at low speeds, such as turning into parking spaces or stopping at intersections, the abs would come on and stay on for 3-4 seconds, rendering the brakes useless for that time period. during this time period, this did result in my vehicle striking a chain link fence with no damage. to prevent this problem from occurring further, i pulled the abs fuse and took the vehicle to the dealer, after first complaining to gm. the dealer was very helpful, and diagnosed the problem as a faulty left front hub. gm and the dealer limited my cost to $100 on the $500 repair. this appeared to fix the problem, until recently. during the past several weeks, the problem has returned, and again rendered the truck very dangerous, and again i pulled the abs fuse and took it to the dealer. again, the dealer was very helpful, and diagnosed the problem this time as a faulty abs electronic brake control module. again, they offered compensation, but to a lesser degree. i paid $500 for the $1000 repair. it appears through my research on the internet, including the nhtsa site, that i am not the only one this has happened to. i believe this is a safety issue that is not limited to my vehicle. i am lucky in that i did not cause injury to myself or others in any of the many instances where this problem surfaced. i was very lucky a few times. *la

My 1999 gmc sierra developed, over the past four months complete failure of the brake rotors on all four wheels. the brakes pads did not fail but they caused a groove to form in all four brake rotors. the rotors are pitted, rusted and worn below minimun thicknesses on all four wheels. the brake rotors are flaking and chipping around the edges and display a groove that is more than 3/8 below the normal thickness of the rotor. the rotors appear on first glance to have come off of a truck that is very much older than three years. the sierra truck is also exibiting the same characteristics as the trucks mentioned in nhtsa campain id number 00v232008. when the truck is almost at a complete stop, the abs system activates and the vehicle shudders to a stop. the description in the above mentioned id number is the exact behaivior that promted me to take the truck to my mechanic, this truck was checked in april of 2002 and no brake problems were spotted. the repair job cost more than $700 to repair and my mechanic stated that he believes that the brake rotors should not have failed in this manner, that the type of failure that is indicated usually occures with worn brake pads, the brake pads in this case were not worn to the point of needing replacement.*ak

The abs system vibrates at a low rate and vehicle will not slow down when applying constant pressure on brakes. there appears to be a 2 to 3 second delay between the time abs takes over and when you have come control over the braking of the vehicle. this time elapse causes you to use other means for avoiding an accident such as veering to the left or right to avoid contact during heavy braking. this problem will also occur if the rear drivetran loses contact with the road surface during light braking. the driver has to always be aware of the possibility of not being able to stop to be able to avoid an accident. the outside mirrors on this vehicle ices up completely during winter highway driving at highway speeds over 45 mph. the time it takes for the mirrors to ice up completely is usually less than 15 minutes from initial start.

On 10/23/01 i started my truck and reversed in my driveway, and my brakes locked up. i put the truck into park and shut off the ignition. at that point i heard a humming from under the transmission. i disconnected the battery at that point and contacted s&k poniac in springfield, il, the local gmc dealer. i explained what had happened and the service manager knew exactly what it was, without even seeing the truck. i was advised my abs had failed and that repair would not be covered under warrenty. on 10/24/01 i contacted several service centers concerning repairing this problem and learned that this is becoming a common failure in this model/make of truck (chevy's also) at the approximate same mileage as i am at. the repair is extremely costly and because of the way the abs is intregrated into the vehicle it cannot be disconnected. i have discounted auto insurance because the abs is on this vehicle, standard practice in the insurance industry. i searched for a recall, or any information,. on gm's website but was unable to find anything related to the abs failure. i am concerned that this very imporant safety feature is failing in many of this make/model/year truck and that a recall should be done. the manufacturer must be held accountable for safety related features. i own a nissan and all safety features are covered for the life of the vehicle.

I have had ongoing problems with the brakes on this truck since i purchased it brand new. when i attempt to stop and rollover a small bump or hole in the road the brake pedal losses pressure and the pedal goes all the way to the floor. in california where i live, it is very hilly and i drive on hills on a daily basis, however i have had to adjust my normal driving and begin to brake 100-150 feet before coming to stop sign to protect my family. when the truck rolls over a small bump or hole, the vehicle will not stop and go right through the intersection. i have taken the vehicle to three (3) different local gmc dealers and they all said that this was normal abs brake operation. i told each of them that this was not normal braking operation. on june 11, 2001, my family and i went to the local supermarket. when i stopped the vehicle i heard what sounded like an electrical motor running underneath the truck. i drove the vehicle home and called for a next day appointment at the local gmc dealer. the next morning when i attempted to drive the vehicle to the dealer the truck would not start, the battery was dead. i called aaa and they came and jumped the dead battery and drove to the dealer repair shop. the dealer stated that the abs control had completely failed and replaced it. however, i still have the same braking problems i had prior to the dealer replacing the 4-wheel anti-lock brake control.*ak

When brakes applied in panic stop, pedal goes to floor. this allows inadvertant contact with accelerator most of the times i tried to duplicate this after the accident using right foot to brake. precise placement of right foot is necessary for me to prevent this( i have to look down at my foot to get it where it won't hit the accelerator in this situation). measurements made indicate that when the brake pedal bottoms out due to the panic stop it travels about 1/2 past the accelerator, allowing contact with it if your feet are big like mine. the brake pedal will not travel far enough to allow this to happen during normal braking. this is a followup to odi#744510. i just got my truck out of the shop yesterday and duplicated the braking problems of the accident. i measured distance that i had to stop at about 200 ft. during the accident at 40 mph initial speed, i did not stop and hit stopped vehicle at about 10 mph while applying full pedal pressure with right foot. *ak

Abs system fails on panic stops. suddenly applied pedal presseur locks brake pedal and provides little or no braking for approximately 1 second. i have been told by the dealership's service department that this is typical of all abs and that i need to train myself not to jam the brakes in an emergency. vehicle was in shop in dec. 1999 for transmission repair and brakes were supposed to be checked. no check was noted on repair order, but service manager assured me that the mechanic had test driven the vehicle and it was ok. this problem seems to be a result of abs pump overreacting to suddenly applied pedal pressure and locking the pedal with back pressure before braking actually starts. i feel that the brakes should at least chirp the tires first. currently vehicle is under repair from accident, but it will be taken to another dealership upon completion of this repair.*ak

Abs brakes fail when you apply brakes when there is a bump in the road. i have had 14 failures in 2095 miles. the brake pedal drops down slightly and becomes solid, you can not push down anymore and the vehicle glides to a slow stop. it will not stop in an emergency in this case. the problem seems to be in the suspension and the abs brakes. the vehicle vibrates and does not recover fast when you go over a slight bump in the road. at highway speed the whole vehicle and steering wheel vibrates. the plastic hub nuts always come loose when driving.*ak

Anti-lock brakes activate during normal braking in non-emergency situations at speeds under 30mph. brake pedal goes to the floor making a chattering noise and stopping distance is increased. this problem prevents the driver from stopping vehicle before stricking another vehicle or entering an intersection at the risk of causing an accident. this is not how a normal abs system operates and is a serious design flaw that gm needs to address before someone is needlessly injured or killed! i've had this truck for one month and i'm afraid to drive it now because of the faulty abs brake system. the drivetrain makes a groaning sound while in 4wd mode and the truck sometimes doesn't want to move without great effort even on dry pavement. this condition does not exist when 4wd is disengaged. the truck has manual 4wd with 4.10 rear end with automatic transmission. this problem is not related to the abs failure. *ak

I started up my 1999 gmc sierra one morning last spring to go to work and when pulling out of the driveway a loud noise started coming from under the cab and the abs light came on. i had it checked out by an independent garage who found it to be the ebcm. the truck had less than 45000 miles on it and had never been off road so it hadn't been mistreated. the module has stayed on and the abs light is on always. i tried to get gm to own up to the faulty part but they refused. i think it is shameful that gm puts low quality electronic parts in their vehicles, and charges so much for the parts. the ebcm costs over 900 dollars which is a lot of money. when you pay over 30,000 for a truck you expect it to last a long time. but gm is not interested in making quality anymore. gm told me that this was a very uncommon problem, wrong, on the web i found many people have had the same problem and in fact there is a rebuild kit for them. i also had my 4wd control module go out at 140 dollars just to replace a push button. *jb

I have a 1999 gmc sierra half-ton pickup truck with only 29k miles. last week, on my way to work early in the morning, my abs pump activated, unable to shut off even with ignition turned off. local garage had to pull power to shut off. subsequent gm inspection resulted in being told the abs control module was corroded and needed to be replaced at a cost of nearly $1000 dollars, much more if the pump was damaged also. i now have only normal, no abs, brakes. and both abs and brake lights are on in dash. this is a known defect and since canada has recalled for this problem the us should too. most of us will drive with only std brakes because we cannot afford to pay out a thousand bucks for fixing something that should never have happened in the 1st place. and this is a safety issue here in snow country.

I have a 1999 4 wheel drive gmc sierra and i have had a lot of close calls with accidents, because the anti lock won't stop at low speeds. they replaced both front hub sensors and the problem still continues. they did it right after the warranty expired. i only have about 35k on my truck. all the rotors peeled and they just turned the rotors down. i later paid to have all new rotors and brakes on all 4 wheels replaced, but the anti lock brakes still activate and make it hard to stop at low speeds, almost causing a few accidents at times.

Dealer diagnosis is engine knock hot or cold see history piston moving in cylinder making noise operating to manufactures specs at this time---performed decarb 2 times per gm recommendations noise returns currantly no resolutins per gm for noise. that means that i pay thousands of dollars for a deffective turck, the factory warranty it going to expire when the truck hits the 36000 miles dealer explain to me that when gm find how to fix the problem i can go back and gm going to fix the engine of my truck, i'm sceptical for this comment. gm built thousands of this kind of engines and i dont think that gm going to expend money and time to fix engines when the wararnty al ready expire.*ak
