| Defect Summary | On certain pickup and utility trucks, some of these vehicles have an air bag sensing diagnostic module (sdm) which contains an anomaly that could result in the driver and passenger's air bag failing to deploy during certain frontal crashes. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra. while driving approximately 50 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle was involved in a crash. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact injured his right shoulder. the police arrived at the scene and filed a report. the vehicle was towed to the auto body shop for repairs. the contact called the manufacturer and they sent out an investigator to inspect the vehicle. the investigator could not determine why the air bags failed to deploy. the contact stated that the failure was identical to nhtsa campaign id number 02v178000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). the current and failure mileages were 81,000. updated 04/16/08. *lj | |||
