Defect SummaryDope, inc. is recalling 42,540 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles. these headlamps fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. these lamps do not contain the required amber side reflectors.
Consequence SummaryDecreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryDope, inc. will notify owners and offer a full refund for the noncompliant combination lamps. the safety recall began on july 28, 2009. owners may contact dope, inc. at 1-626-272-1798.

 Dt: the running lights continued to short out. the bulbs have been replaced eight times in the past year. this did not affect normal use of the headlights or the tail lights. the vehicle has not been to the dealer for this issue. contacted manufacturer, who said they would not pay for the repairs. the contact believed the lens on the day time running lights were filling up with water when it rained. the contact drilled holes in the bottom of the lens to allow water to escape. since the contact had performed the drilling the lights have not shorted out as often. *ak

 While driving at approximately 65 mph the headlights failed. owner contacted the manufacturer, who stated that the vehicle was out of warranty, and there was nothing else they could do. *ak the auto lighting system goes out. the consumer stated that he tried to turn on the manual switch does not work. *tc
