Monaco/lippert safety complaint about a 2009 holiday rambler endeavor. *nj the consumer attempted to retract the stabilizing jacks from the extended position. the jacks would normally retract gradually and would lower the coach gently. this time, the coach just basically fell off the jacks resulting in a hard landing. the very next time the consumer attempted to extend the jacks, his neighbor yelled that the coach was smoking badly in the back. the consumer shut off the jack switch and ran to the back of the coach with a fire extinguisher. by the time he got to the rear, the smoke had started to dissipate. upon investigation, the consumer determined that the smoke was coming from the electric motor that drives the hydraulic system. there was oil seeping from the end of the electric motor and there was a burn mark where hot oil had run down the motor. upon examination of the hydraulic assembly, it was clear that the seal between the electric motor and the hydraulic pump had failed, allowing the hydraulic oil to infiltrate the electric motor, which in turn was shorted by the oil causing large quantities of smoke to be generated. the manufacturer of the hydraulic assembly advised the consumer to replace the entire hydraulic pump/motor/manifold assembly. *jb updated 04/14/10.*jb
