Tl- the contact owns a 2005 honda crv. the contact was traveling 65 mph when they heard a noise come from the transmission and the vehicle started to rapidly slow down. when this occurred the vehicle started to veer drastically to the left causing the contact hit the median wall spinning the vehicle around three times. the passenger side air bag deployed, but not the driver side. the vehicle then came to a stop. the vehicle was then towed to the contact insurance companies inspection station were it was ruled to be destroyed. the inspection station was not able to determine the cause of the failure leading to the incident. the failure mileage and current mileages were 115,000.rl

Left firestone auto to get an il change on univeristy blvd after oil change, proceeded onto university blvd, made a left onto broadhead road(?), made a right into dollar bank parking lot. pulled up to atm and atm was out of service. drove around the building to go into the bank to get money out instead. turned into parking spot four, pumped gas then brake....car accelerated and i pumped on brakes again and the car would not stop. i hit a pole in front of the bank, the air bag deployed. the car was smoking and smelled of burning oil and smoke. the car would not stop and appeared to accelerate on its own.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL
01/02/201156000
I am the original owner of the well maintained vehicle, a 2005 honda crv with 56,781 miles currently, and no longer covered by any warranty. at @ 55,500 miles, the car had the abs and vsa lights come on spontaneously on the dashboard display which indicated that they were not functional. they would not turn off. the car was taken to its regular service dealership, economy honda in chattanooga,tn and the problem was diagnosed (free of charge) as a failure of the abs/vsa modulator (computer). cost to repair was @ $2,400.00 (@ $1800 for the part, balance labor). they said it was o.k. to drive but it had no anti-lock brakes or vsa. because this was a safety issue, an unusual occurrence and very expensive to repair, i contacted the district honda customer service (case # n012011-03-1501146) and explained the problem. they were most helpful and courteous. they recorded the complaint and after 3 days honda called and agreed to share 50% of the cost to repair. the crv was repaired on march 29,2011 at the same dealership with my cost share of $1206.79. in my internet search on the problem, i found at least 55 instances (usa, ca, and eu) of the same abs/vsa problem and cost to repair on one blog i found. all vehicles were 2005 and 2006 honda crvs.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING
06/13/201084500
2005 crv has headlight low beam burn out problem as i've seen on the internet. the headlights burns out every couple of months. both sometimes both burn out at the same time. this seems very dangerous. so far there has not been an accident that i know of. since 2006 have replace 6 bulbs.

On numerous occasions head light (s) fails. internet research suggest that this is a common problem on all 2005 honda crv's. the terminals corrode, arc and lose contact. *tr
INTERIOR LIGHTING
05/01/2005
Led lights on the dash board of my 2005 honda crv began failing approximately 2 years ago (may 2008) and have now burned out on left side, obscuring tachometer and temp gauge and 1/2 of speedometer. honda service in new britain ct (schaller) refused to fix undder my extended warranty (light bulbs not covered). it appears others have had same problem. honda should do the right thing and recall all '05 crvs for a global fix.
LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
04/01/2003400001
I am the owner of a 1996 honda accord and 20005 honda crv. the problem that i have experience with both vehicles which was purchased new is that the power locks clicks up and down from time to time, even after locking the doors. i believe this is a common problem with honda vehicles, but may be i am the first to mention it. however, with the doors locks, it puts your safety and security at risk and there should be an investigation of this matter. i have been experiencing this problem with each vehicle after about three years of ownership or after the warranty expires. *tr
POWER TRAIN

Honda crv 2005 ex model started lately (2010 late) to have rear differential noise, especially when making big turns at very low speed (starting from stop). this is the design problem.

Three years from date of purchase, at 28486 miles, my honda crv was taken to the dealer for service. i mentioned noise when making turns if the car was cold. the dealer said the car needed the differential fluid replaced and the differential clutches burnished, (as per bulletin). my maintenance manual recommends this at 5 years or 90,000 miles. i read that other drivers have had the same problem. i was not charged, because the car had 5 days left on the initial warranty. i assume this is some kind of manufacturing defect. *tr

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

I purchased new a honda crv in june, 2005. on august 15, 2007 with 24,064 miles the rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced at a cost of $275.54 which being under warranty honda paid for. on february 16, 2009 with 39,477 miles again the rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced at a cost of $342.12 which the dealership paid for as they knew i was very upset. i have called honda customer service about this each time and all they do is note it on my record. i feel that there has to be a problem somewhere that they aren't acknowledging or don't care to. granted i have had no out of pocket expenses but don't feel this should be happening. i feel honda's engineers need to look at this and if necessary change the whole system so i'm not changing rear brakes and rotors every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. i know of several other people who have the same vehicle and have had the same problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 honda crv. while driving 45 mph, the tilt adjuster that controls different settings to adjust the steering column failed. the steering column loosened and moved up and down while driving. the contact had to hold the tilt adjuster lock in his hand while driving until it locked back into place. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they determined that the tilt adjuster was functioning as designed. no repairs were made. the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 12,000 and current mileage was 42,000.
