TIRES

Front tire:dunlop roadsmart motorcycle tire has apparent loss of belt integrity. large bubble about 10 inches long by about 3 inches wide causes front of bike to shake. hate to think what would have happened had the tire rubber failed. btw your tire selection doesn't list the correct tire it's a 120/70 - 18. i selected the 125 to get to the next page

Dunlop roadsmart front motorcycle tire, size 120/70 x 18 has suffered a tread separating and puncture caused by the internal steel belt piercing the inner liner. this tire was used for approximately 6000 miles on a 2005 honda st1300. this same failure mode has occured to many of my friends at the www.st-owners.com forum.

TIRES - PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
08/22/2009180001
2005 honda st1300 motorcycle. i purchased a tire pressure monitoring system that was made by tiregard (http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/40_home_monthly_specials/23662_show_chrome_tiregard_tire_air_pressure_monitor/) this is a wireless system which consists of two sensors that are screwed onto to the tire's valve stem to monitor the internal air pressure. my incident occurred while riding my motorcycle on the freeway at approx 70 mph when the front valve stem tore resulting in a rapid loss of air pressure and a flat tire. at first i thought this was an isolated incident but was recently contacted by another motorcyclist who experienced the same type of failure. although i really like this system, metal valve stems should be required. i would hate to see another motorcyclist injured because of this type of failure when this incident originally happened, i posted on a motorcycle forum with some pictures - here is the link http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71031 i also noted the system selling on amazon.com and it has one review - which also mentions this type of failure http://www.amazon.com/tiregard-wireless-tire-pressure-monitor/dp/b001vdubhw/ref=sr_1_1?ie=utf8&s=automotive&qid=1274328259&sr=8-1 please look into this - i am afraid someone may be seriously injured. in my case i was able to get safely to the side of the road but i did ruin a front tire and dented my front rim. thank you *tr
