FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Right power window started to malfunction, window glass going down and up misaligned. emissions of strong fuel odor whenever the vehicle is parked and the engine turned off. this is a roughly 33k mile vehicle, and carefully maintained. the isuzu rodeo sport safety recall concerning fuel systems can be attributed to this same problem as they share the same/most mechanical features and factory equipments. *tr

I had the drivers side window mechanism (the regulator) fail within the first year. i had it later replaced by the dealer, only to fail again a couple of months later. i have given up getting it fixed again because it is not under warranty any more. this is a recurring problem that every other vehicross owner i know of has.*ak

Driver's side power window binding and subsequent failure. window 'siezed halfway up it's track, not weather related. performed a hasty repair in parking lot with borrowed tools. a failure like this would easily result in window breakage. thank god that it didn't occur on the highway. upon first opportunity, dismantled door and repaired source -improper mechanism assembly and adjustment. re-aligned componenets and lubed window track with spray graphite.*ak

I own a 2001 isuzu vehicross and would like isuzu to own up to a design flaw. i have had this fixed 3 times while under warranty and the problem comes right back soon after they replace the window regulator. at the moment both of my windows are unable to roll up without my assistance. this is a major problem in the cold of alaska as if i need to roll my passenger window down i need to lean into the passenger seat in order to roll it up and i find myself doing this at unwanted/unsafe times due to the cold. also if a friend is in the car they tend to smash their fingers in the window when pulling it up. i am sick of isuzu saying there is nothing wrong with it.... it is obviously a design flaw as every vehicross i have ever seen has had the same problem!!!!!!!!! and as for the incident date this has happened five times (since date i said was the incident) so there is not just a single incident. *jb

I own two 2001 isuzu vehicross's. i bought them used 1 and 2 years ago, respectively. my first one was purchased with 11,000 miles on it, and the second one with 36,000 miles on it. upon purchase of my first one, the power window mechanism on both sides had to be replaced due to a failure of the track alignment. i'm seeing similar issues with my second vehicross as well. my first vehicross was fixed by a dealer, under warranty, on four separate occasions. after the warranty ran out, the issue again presented itself, and i had to pay over $600 to get the issue fixed. even then, the issue reappeared after only a few months. my second vehicross has the same exact issues with the window binding, and track misalignment, causing the motors to wear. upon coming in contact with an organization of several hundred vehicross enthusiasts i discovered that this type of window failure is epidemic with this model car. some of the owners have had multiple failures -- i.e., the windows have been fixed only to fail again, sometimes three or four times. i have contacted isuzu but they deny there is a problem. on the other hand i understand there are official documents by isuzu that do recognize this problem. since there was a limited distribution of this particular model car -- somewhere in the area of 4000 plus over a four year period -- it appears the window failure rate is a high percentage of that total number. i would ask that the department investigate this problem, including investigation of the internal isuzu document mentioned above. if there is, as it appears, a design flaw in the window mechanism, then there are hundreds of vehicross owners who have improperly been charged to repair it, sometimes multiple times. *jb

I own a 2001 vehicross by isuzu. i bought it new in 2001. about a year after getting the vehicle the driver's side power window mechanism had to be replaced due to a failure of the track alignment. the dealer fixed it, but i have since had the same problem with the passenger side, and dealer wanted $800 to fix it. currently, the driver's side window was showing the same problem again. i have to help it by pulling on the window when i am raising it. only 4000 of these vehicles were produced and a large portion of them have this window problem.*ak

I own a 2001 vehicross by isuzu. i bought it last week and it has 55000 miles on it. immediately i discovered the power window mechanism on the driver's side seemed to be mis adjusted as the window would pop out of track as it was rolled up. upon coming into contact with an organization of several hundred vehicross enthusiasts , www.vehicross.information, i discovered that this type of window failure is epidemic with this model car. some of the owners have had multiple failures -- i.e., the windows have been fixed only to fail again, sometimes three or four times. at the moment i have 55, 500 miles on the car, and now the passenger's side window is beginning to fail. i have contacted my nearest isuzu dealership. but they refused to return my calls. i understand there are official documents by isuzu that do recognize this problem. since there was a limited distribution of this particular model car -- somewhere in the area of 4000 plus over a 3 year period -- it appears the window failure rate is a high percentage of that total number. i would ask that the department investigate this problem, including investigation of the internal isuzu document mentioned above. if there is, as it appears, a design flaw in the window mechanism, then there are hundreds of vehicross owners who have improperly been charged to repair it, sometimes multiple times. *ak

Windows failed to go up smoothly. they would bind, causing windows to appear off track and stop while the window motor continued to try to run. this happened on both sides of the vehicle. under warranty, the problem was fixed, and several months later, the problem has returned. now, the dealership is charging me for the second repair of both windows.*ak

The power windows on my 2001 isuzu vehicross do not operate correctly. the driver side window binds as it goes up and will not close completely without help, so i have to push it up the last 1/3 of the way. the passenger side window needs to be held in the track for the first third of it's travel in order for it to close properly. this is a recurring problem, but the dealership service dept. has been unable to provide anything other than temporary fixes. i deal with this problem every day.*ak
