Loss of headlights and running lights after activating the high beam switch...after loss the high beam indicator remains lit, but not as bright as when it is when functioning normally...took to ford dealer once but problem ended before arriving there, some 30 miles away...last time problem happened it was over 2 days before bright light indicator went off...was not in vicinity of any dealer during this time problem or winnebago problem????last incident happened on ohio 32, 4 lane lightly traveled road at night and i was able to limp to a shopping center 2 miles after incident happened by running on right shoulder with flashers on...flashers and clearance lights function normally when this happens..this only seems to happen when you hit the high beams...don't normally do any night driving, so have never noticed this problem in the past..*ak

September 2007 - ford motor company sent a letter stating that the speed control deactivation switch was posing a risk of and underhood fire. this condition may occur either when the vehicle is parked or when it is being operated, even if the speed control is not in use. this was taken to the dealer in october 2007, at the time we were told that the fused wiring harness was not available from ford motor company. the best that the dealer could do was disconnect the speed control system. that was in october of 2007. the local dealer and ford motor company have been contacted each week to find out if the part is in for this repair, and each week we are told that it is not in stock yet, here it is the end of may 2008 and we are still waiting for the fused wiring harness (recall 05s28). *tr
