Defect Summary | Certain replacement fuel filters, fram brand name p/n g3727, with date codes x52911 through x60801 sequentially or x600141 and a mexico country or origin marking on the fuel filter housing manufactured from october 18, 2005, through march 21, 2006, sold for use on the vehicles listed above and on certain school buses. (to see the school bus engine sizes, click on document search and then bus applications). the connector on the fuel filter was not manufactured to honeywell's specification. as a result, the o-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line. | |||||||||||||||

Transmission (limp home mode). coming to a stop exiting the ramp the car shuts off, and when started again the transmission light is on, and limp home mode. this was taken in for service and the technician said no codes where presented in the computer to indicate a problem therfore they reset it and said it just beacuse of a sudden stop.*ak | |||

Rear end (differential) problem. when driving at about 40 miles an hour you can hear a roaring noise from the rear end (sounds like a truck instead of a luxury vehicle). this supposedly was fixed by prior service, however the problem still exist and service technician admittedly hear the same noise that again has been reported over and over since purchasing the car.*ak | |||

In reverse i was backing into my carport. when i needed more gas the throttle hung and it made it impossible to control and i backed thur the wall and into the kitchen approx 4 feet inside taking out my doors and kitchen cabinets the stove and other valuables, at approx 20 plus mph the throttle had hung up before in forward but never in reverse.i was hurt and the car recieved rear end damage but im really concerned about other people having this problem and killing someone if anyone had been behind the car or in my kitchen they could have been killed. *ak | |||

Accelerator pedal appeared to stick. when pedal was released, engine did not throttle down, resulting in revs remaining at previous level, and speed unchanged. when driven on the highway, this means that speed remains at 55 even when accelerator pedal is not depressed. sometimes, runaway acceleration occurs. i took vehicle to my mechanic. he rebuilt the throttle body. problem unsolved. he then did some research and found that there was a defective design for the 1996 throttle body, which was subsequently changed. he installed the new design, and the problem went away. i reported it to jaguar usa. they said because the vehicle was out of warranty, there was nothing they could do, but they would send me $100 boutique dollars as a gift. incident date is approximate. *tr | |||

Accelerator sticks. this has been repeatedly reported to the service department that services my car and i reported it to jaguarusa. this is a serious issue that needs attention for jaguar to fix.via my research there was a recall for 1997 models via the nhtsa but not for the 96 models. please assist in this matter. *ak | |||
