Defect SummaryJayco is recalling 74 my 1999-2001 designer fifth wheel motor homes equipped with norcold refrigerators. a fatigue failure in the section of the cooling unit which contains the refrigerant could allow the liquid solution to slowly leak.
Consequence SummaryExtended operation of a leaking cooling unit could lead to a fire from gas which might escape.
Corrective SummaryJayco is working with norcold to repair these refrigerators. norcold will provide thermal switch kits to owners along with the necessary forms and instructions. the recall began on june 23, 2008. owners may contact norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or jayco at 1-574-825-5861.

Consequence SummaryOverheating could result in smoke or burning, and in an underhood fire.

 Tl*- the contact stated that the 2000 norcold refrigerator caught on fire on 09/25/06. the contact stated that the jayco designer series rv 5th wheel that was purchased with the norcold refrigerator had a defective refrigerator that had recall campaign 02e019000 back in 2002, he just found out about the recall from reading his good samaritan magazine. the insurance adjuster, fire investigator, and the forensic department determined that the refrigerator norcold was the cause of the fire. the contact had all reports needed for the investigation. *ak the consumer was never contacted about the recall. updated 03/30/07. *jb

 Poor design of motor home, the vehicle is overweight. *bf the consumer suggested that only two family members can ride in the vehicle, otherwise the family is over weight. two tires had blown as a result. *sc *jb
