ENGINE
06/29/2012620001
I just purchased a used 2010 jeep commander limited with 5.7 hemi from philpot motors and brought it home june 25th, 2012. on friday, june 29th on my way home the engine completely shut off twice within 10 minutes. both times it was as i was coming to a complete stop. i had to put it in park and turn the key and it started right back up like nothing was wrong. philpot had it brought to an authorized jeep dealer (allen samuels) where it sat for 2 weeks and they couldn't figure it out or reproduce the problem. philpot suggested they change the tipm (power module) and re-flash the memory which they did. i got it back and drove it for about a month and once again it happened at a stop sign when my wife was driving it. the engine stopped completely and she had to put it in park and restart it. it just dies with no warning at complete random times when coming to a complete stop. i was disgusted and so philpot took it once again and sent it to allen samuels. they had it for another 2 weeks and still could not replicate the problem nor find one. they even contacted chrysler engineers and they couldn't offer any advice. i just got it back the other day because they couldn't figure it out. i even contacted chrysler group myself after the first occurrence and the girl was rude to me on the phone. she couldn't or wouldn't help me find a solution to the problem because i wasn't the authorized service center. she said the authorized mechanic could only contact their techs, not a consumer. i can't believe that chrysler engineers and authorized service people cannot find or replicate a problem that's happened three times now. i just wanted my jeep fixed but i guess chrysler doesn't have the knowledge or know how to pinpoint what is causing this dangerous problem. *tr
