I own a 2004 jeep grand cherokee limited......i took my car in for the seat heater recall and since then i have terrible problems with the sudden acceleration of the car....(700rpms to 1800) i constantly have to push the brake down and be very conscious of keeping my foot on the brake. the check engine light then came on with a p0505 code. air intake sensor. well a new one was put in and the problem was not resolved. the mechanic could not control the idle even with the diagnostic computer attached to it. it was found that two wires on the wiring harness were shorting out and melting......then after driving approx 1200 miles the idle starts jumping again.....the check engine light come on about two days later......then within the same day the idle calms down and the check engine light goes off. i have paid lots of money to have this repaired.....i believe that there is a short somewhere from the seat heater recall since the car did not do this prior to having the dealership fix the seat heater with the recall. i really like my car when the idle is right ........i am not comfortable having anyone else drive it due to this issue and do not always feel safe when the acceleration goes wild.....please help.....this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed quickly before other people get hurt or killed. *tr

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
06/25/2004106/25/2004
 1) i purchased a new 2004 jeep liberty the brakes continually squeak. 2) twice i have brought the jeep back to the dealer for repairs. 3) they decline fixing the brakes, stating that it's condensation build-up. 4) i brought the jeep to another brake specialist who said it's repairable by changing the brake pads from hard to soft brake pads. 5) my jeep only has 15 thousand miles on it and is still under warranty. *jb
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC - ANTILOCK
03/01/200524800311/28/2003
Dt: jeep grand cherokee. at first, when stepping on the brakes the steering wheel shook. at 14,700 miles and on 6/1/04 the mechanic determined it was only the abs brakes, and didn't record it. at 20,000 miles and on 12/1 2004 the shaking became worse and they replaced the rear rotors and turned the front rotors at no cost. currently, the shaking was bad again, and the rotors were too thin to turn. however, all 4 rotors needed to be replaced, the dealer said they would fix the rotors but to never bring it back to them again for this problem. the brake pads have not been replaced because were good. *ak
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC - FOUNDATION COMPONENTS - DISC - ROTOR
04/15/20048000407/17/2003
I purchased a brand new 2004 jeep grand cherokee. starting in april of 2004 i had to have my rotors turned after less than 12,000 miles after hitting a patch of ice and my anti-lock breaks kicked in. it was a downward spiral from there. the rotors would need to be turned just shy of 3,000 miles from the previous correction after the 3rd time of having to be turned the rotors had to be replaced. i personally contacted damlier-chrysler and complained about my problem with the rotors. they had the nerve to tell me that it was the way i am driving my car and that i shouldn't be so rough. i am a safe driver who has never been in a single car accident or received a ticket and do not feel that the customer service gentleman had a right to even suggest otherwise. i have never owned a brand new car (i have had 3) that has given me more problems with the rotors. i have also never had to replace rotors on a vehicle that is less than 2 years old. i complained to my dealer every time i was in for the repairs and i learned that i was not the only one experiencing the same problem. jeep was offering a better breaking system that would fix the problem that would run me about $350-$400 plus the cost of installation. that is not acceptable. i think that this is a serious problem and could cause serious if not fatal injuries. i am very upset in the money i have had to invest in a breaking system for a brand new car that has never been fixed. *jb

STEERING - HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
01/05/200450101/05/2004
Had a squeaky power steering system on 2004 jeep grand cherokee right from the first day of purchase. jeep refused to correct the squeak, saying that this was a characteristic of this model.*ak

Bad transmission and lower ball joint recall
TIRES - SIDEWALL
07/08/2006280400205/28/2004
The side walls on all the goodyear wrangler st tires on my jeep have dry rot. while driving on a interstate, late at night, one of the tires blow through the side wall. due to a slow leak in one of the other tires in the area of the side wall, sullivan tire, a local goodyear tire dealer, inspected the tires and advised me that all the tires had some degree of dry rot in the vicinity of the side wall (a possible quality control problem) and they should be replaced. sullivan tire is contacting goodyear for instructions on the replacements. *nm

Once before the jeep seemed to accelerate suddenly. today as i was maneuvering to enter my garage the car leaped out of control. i didn't know if the accelerator had stuck, if the brake had failed to work, or if there was a problem as i changed gears to maneuver. i threw the car into another gear and that stopped the problem. it was extremely frightening. this is my third jeep in a row. i have been driving them (and only them ) since 1992. i am very familiar with them. i am calling the dealership to ask that they examine the vehicle. something is very wrong. ps-the computer will not allow me to submit this report unless i say that my jeep grand cherokee is a scrambler or a wrangler, so i have to say it is one or the other although it is not! *jb
