Starting in jan 2004, my drivers side seatbelt disengaged on its own while driving. in the last two months it has done this several times, always without warning. some times the belt will stay latched for the whole trip, some times it will release before i can reach the end of the driveway, more often it will release while i'm driving on the highway. i have not yet had a chance to speak with a dealer about the problem. *ak

Seatbelt latch and retractor my seatbelt latch does not stay fastened. it will release at any time even if i am not moving. the seatbelt retractor will also lock when the belt is fully retracted and can remain this way for days. sometimes i have had to drive with no seatbelt! the retractor will also lock when the belt is withdrawn. when this happens the belt has to be manually fed into the belt retractor. i have been to the dealership with my problem and they just tell me that i will have to purchase a new belt. this has been a problem for about one year.

Front seat belt retractors continually fail to retract seatbelt fully, usually leaving 8-10 inches of belt on the floor and sometimes hanging outside the door frame. this has been a re-occuring problem with too many to count failures. problem is temporarily alleviated by manually feeding the belt into the retractor.*ak
