Problems with transmission on 1995 jeep wrangler. nar 06/27/2003*mr the consumers transmission failed while driving on the interstate it lost 2 gears without warning. the vehicle had to be towed away and damages cost approx $1873.93. after during research the consumer found that several jeeps had experienced the same problems so it was evident that it was a manufacturer problem, so the consumer wishes to be fully reimbursed for repairs. *cb the consumer had brakes and shock work performed in the past. *jb

Without prior warning or incident, brakes suddenly failed when brakes applied. pedal responds initialt, the bottoms out to the floor with no corresponding braking applied to any wheels, system integrity is good, no fluid losses indicated, occured upon first drive of day, 70 degrees temperature, dry sunny day, had not been for standard transmission providing engine braking, probably would not be here to write this.

Brakes failed in my 1995 jeep wrangler. both circuits (front and rear) had all hydraulic fluid stream out. i needed to replace all the brake lines and hoses due to extensive corrosion to the brake lines. the front circuit line rusted thru and the fluid came out thru a rupture in the steel (rusted) line. the rear circuit hose for the drivers side wheel blew off the steel line (due to corrosion). fortunate for me i was approaching a red light, didn't like the way the brakes felt, so applied the brakes harder than usual to determine if i could sense some defect and they went to the floor, luckily the light turned green at the same time and the cars in front of me moved out. i downshifted and slowed and pulled to the shoulder and then into a shopping center parking lot, from where the car was towed to a repair station. the service tech at the garage told me that all the lines are shot (which i confirmed myself). in addition he also warned me about advanced corrosion to the fuel rail as well as other steel componets (mostly tubular). this jeep has been in fresh water above the frame in the past while four wheeling, but never in salt water. the vehicle has 75,000 miles on it and has not been utilized very often (driven perhaps 1 or 2x per month except winter) over the last several years. has there been any other complaints of this type of issue? this could have killed me and or whoever else was with me should have made a panic stop prior to this happening. i would appreciate whatever info can be passed along to me. by the way, this repair was extremely expensive!*jb

While driving the lights were dimming on and off just before the engine shut down in the road. the engine began shifting, the battery partially melted, and the battery cable burned. also the brake lines were all bent back due to the engine shifting approximately 4-6 inches. consumer has called al. miss. az. il. (52059100r) is the part number, ny. says there are 243 consumers waiting for parts due to same defect. chrysler says they cannot find a manufacturer for the parts. also the oil filter was broken, and the oil casing is dented. this is the second time this has happened, the vehicle was modified by a chrysler dealership the first time to remedy the problem. chrysler has a 243 customer back order and more to order. *ak
