Fuel tank spill when fueling. happens every time i fuel this vehicle. gas spills out of the fill tube when pump shuts off. i think this could be a seriuos fire hazard and environmental disaster. *tr

On february 18th 2012, i purchased a used 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon from a jeep dealership. every time i've filled up for gas, there is an over spill of about 1/8 of a gallon. this happened on 2/27/12, 2/29/12 , 3/15/12, 3/25/12, and 4/23/12. even when slowing down towards the end of the fill up, it still spills over, just less severe. i took it into the dealer. they performed a fuel system software upgrade on 4/06/12, but that did not correct the problem. this is a huge nuisance (not to mention safety/fire hazard) and from what little research i've done, does not sound like an isolated problem.

I had bought a jeep wrangler with approx 45000 miles. right around the 55000 the check engine light came on and then i started having gas blow out of the gas tank during refueling. the jeep now has 85000 and still has the gas blow back. i had taken it to a jeep dealer and the mention that it needed a smoke test. i found that i had a major evap leak in the fuel system, i had a mechanic replace the fuel hoses. after the repairs. i still have the fuel blow back. i live in the va beach area, where fuel on the ground causes an environment problem especially when i fuel on norfolk naval base. i had fuel sprayed on me and also cautioned the wife, who already had it splash on her face. luckily, did not spray in the eyes. when pumping gas the automatic shutoff does not kick in fast enough before blow back occurs. it happens with out warning. is there a resolution to this issue with the jeep wranglers?

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 jeep wrangler. the driver was refueling when fuel was spewed out from the filler neck and onto the driver's leg. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics. the mechanic stated the fuel tank would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000. kmj

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited - there is a back-splash issue when fueling the vehicle, every time! if you do not just stop it early (before it is full) it will splash back every time you fuel, sometimes quite a bit of fuel spilled. i have talked to several other owners of this make and model jeep and most of them said they have the same problem. i called chrysler about this and asked if this was an ongoing issue. the representative said they were not aware of the issue. i find that unlikely.

Significant fuel spillage while fueling vehicle at the point of gas pump cut-off. fuel is burped out of the fuel filling port on the vehicle onto pump operator's hands, arms, and clothing, in addition to the side of the vehicle and fill nozzle. this happens every time the vehicle is fueled no matter where it is fueled, what speed fuel is pumped and whether or not the nozzle is being hand operated or automatically operated. on research, this is an engineering failure known by chrysler that is due to non-ethanol resistant plastics being used in a check valve contained in the fuel tank assembly, causing the valve to swell and get jammed when fuel containing ethanol is used in the vehicle. i would think that drivers, their vehicles, and the ground being doused with significant quantities of gasoline at every fueling stop would qualify as a safety issue.

When filling gas tank, fuel splashes back out of fill pipe. it doesn't matter how fast or slow the tank is filled, or what position the fill nozzle is placed in the fill opening, it splashes back out of the fill pipe, covering the side of the vehicle, as well as the person filling if standing too close. i see this as a very dangerous situation, as static electricity could easily ignite the fuel in this scenario. i've read on jeep blogs that the cure is to replace the fuel tank due to a defective valve in the tank at the cost of over $900. but unfortunately the replacement tank is just another defective tank, as there is not an updated unit available, thus setting up another future failure. there is not recall on this, i think there should be. please keep me advised of any actions taken in this matter. sincerely, marykate gentile

When filling gas tank neck repeatedly overflows at cutoff, spilling several ounces of gas on car and ground.

When refueling the vehicle, fuel pump never shuts off. this has been a problem with the vehicle now for a long time. the fuel system allows the pump to continue running after the tank is full. it does not matter what gas station i go to. gasoline always overflows and spills out onto the ground. i was recently refueling my and the vehicle and the pump did not shut off. a substantial amount of gas flowed out onto the ground and something lit the fuel vapors causing a small fire. i was able to put it out with an extinguisher. this could have caused the entire gas station to catch fire/explode and is extremely dangerous.

Gasoline spews out of tank when clicking off when full. this can be very dangerous and gets gasoline on my truck and i have had gasoline spewed on me before. it's not fun going to work smelling like a gas station. there are so many complaints on this issue, why isn't the manufacturer required to fix this dangerous problem?

When filling the vehicle up with gasoline at a service station an overflow condition occurs where a significant volume of gasoline spews out of the filler neck. the overflow of gasoline is enough to douse the operator performing the fillup, run down the side of the vehicle, and leave a large puddle of gasoline on the ground.

A large amount of fuel violently erupts from tank mouth when filling and overflows onto the vehicle, ground & myself. this occurs at each complete fill-up. this 2005 jeep wrangler sporadically trips obd-2 check engine codes for emission evaporative components, in the p0440-p0456 range.

Gas is overflowing when i fuel up. this has happened 5 times already.

When filling the gas tank the pump will not automatically shut off and there is a huge spray of gasoline out of the tank. this happens almost every time, you are forced to listen to the sound of the gas and judge when it is about to spill out in order to prevent it. (note: i no longer own this vehicle, but i am documenting it here since i have heard that it is a common problem.)
01/07/2012
When fueling the vehicle, gasoline overflows and spews out of the gas tank opening. this happens each time the vehicle is fueled and occurs as the tank reaches full. this is an extremely dangerous and unhealthy situation which needs to be addressed by the vehicle manufacturer. i was shocked to find this is a known and widely reported issue, but not yet resolved by chrysler.

My 2005 jeep wrangler tj will spit fuel each time i fill the vehicle (overflow) and it will spill gasoline all over the side of the vehicle and on the ground.
01/05/201144000
After filling the fuel tank, the gas pump stops but the gas comes gushing out of the filler tube. this has now happened every time i have filled up my jeep since the first time it happened in jan 2011.
08/02/201040000
The fuel always spews out of the tank when allowing the automatic shutoff of the gas pump. it happens with every gas station i use. i would estimate about 1 to 2 cups of fuel spill out and onto the ground each time i fill up. i have been informed this is an issue that involves a faulty valve in the wrangler gas tank. jeep needs to take ownership of this issue.
01/07/201241807
When refueling a significant quantity (estimated at 8 ounces or more) of gasoline is spit back or discharged from the fuel filler opening as the tank reaches full. this discharge produces a puddle of gasoline at least 24 in diameter and leaves the exterior and underside of the fender dripping with gasoline and depending on the filler hose configuration may soak the clothing of the person operating the pump. this event occurs every time the vehicle is refueled unless care is taken to stop adding fuel before the tank reaches full capacity. clearly this creates a very dangerous, environmentally hazardous and potentially life threatening situation!!

When filling the fuel tank with gas, the gas pump does not shut off when the tank is full. this causes overflow of gas from the tank. an internet search indicates that this is a common issue with jeep wranglers.

Fuel spills when gas tank is full every time i fill up the jeep. my father has this same problem also.

When filling the gas tank, the shutoff valve to prevent fuel overflow does not appear to work properly and the result is that fuel overflows from the filler neck and runs all over the vehicle and ground. this happens every time it's filled up regardless of how quickly or slowly i regulate the flow of fuel into the tank.
10/08/2011
When filling the gas tank the pump will stop pumping gas but the fuel will splash out of the fill port on my jeep. there are many youtube vids showing this problem. gas is expensive so i would like to know why this is happening.

Whenever the vehicle is filled completely with gas the gas pump will quit pumping fuel but 1/2 - 1 cup of fuel spills out every time after the fuel pump shuts off.
09/14/201126000
When i was at a gas station that didn't have a fuel vapor recovery system on the fuel pump handle, fuel would spit back out when the fuel tank got full, getting fuel on the pump handle and down the side of the jeep.

Every time i fill my 2005 jeep wrangler, the full hose will not shut off and gas shoots out all over the fender and the ground. this happens at all gas stations and it doesn't matter whether i use the auto shut off or hold the nozzle, the gas still shoots out creating a safety and environmental hazard.

Fueling stopper assembly does not trigger gas station pump nozzle to stop dispensing fuel on time. the result is spilled fuel every time due to fuel over flow from fuel tank when ever a fuel fill up is attempted. this happens 100% of the time.

Incident mileage on my report is due to buying the vehicle used, but has most likely occurred since date of original purchase. due to an bad check valve in the fuel tank, overfilling occurs at almost every fill-up, creating both environmental concerns and potential hazardous conditions.

Everytime i fill up my vechicle the nozzle does'nt kick off, gas pours out the filler neck, gas is expensive these days to just pour it on the ground and bad for the evironment, i try to not let it happen but still it does, i feel that jeep should bring out a recall on this. i cant fill my vehicle up all the way as i like to be able to. the fender flare is discolored because of the gas spilling out on to it and then i have to go and get the gas off my hands and shoes when i shouldn't have to. i know there are more problems other than mine as you can go to http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f176/have-fuel-spill-problems-like-many-us-submit-complaint-force-recall-974337/ and see many on there has had this problem aswell and have videos of this happening. im just affraid that static electricty my spark on it at the time this happens and causes a big mess. please help me and others make jeep send out a recall on this. my vehicle is complety stock no modifications has been done to it to alter the way gas goes into the tank. thank you for your time.

Fuels sprays out of the fill point when filling at a gas station. i have had it spray into the air and into my mouth and close to my eyes. i have the nozzle in the hole and on auto stop and when it is full, the pump stops the fueling after the fuel come squirting out. this is a known problem and i am sick and dang tired of getting fuel all over my hands, face and clothing!

When fueling vehicle gas splashes out of fuel filler intake. this happens on just about every fill up. it doesn't appear to make any difference if you fill up slowly or at normal fill speed. gasoline spilling on the side of the vehicle and spilling onto the ground can't be a safe thing.

When filling the gas tank on my 2005 jeep wrangler, i get a back splash of gas more often than not. i've taken the precaution of slowing the pump down when close to full, but still spill gas. when i spoke to chrysler about another issue, i mentioned the overflow issue. i was told to have the fuel tank inlet check valve looked at the next time i was at the dealership.

Every time i fill up my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited the tank will overflow. it doesn't matter if i let the auto stop click to stop the gas or if i slow down when i know it is getting full, the gas will overflow and leak everywhere. it's a decent size puddle too, not just a couple drips.

Upon refilling my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited with gasoline when the gas pump shuts off there is a blow back of roughly 1 quart of gasoline. this happens each and every time i re-fuel and each time it is roughly the same amount of blow back.

Every single time i fill my jeep up with gasoline it spits back at me. i have to stand back while filling the tank and gauge approximately how much gas i am low so i can predict when to slow down the pump, just to soften the amount of gas that is spit back. this only limits the amount that spits back, it does not stop it entirely. half of the time i end up wet with gasoline.

Every single time i put gas in the jeep, it overflows. even if i listen carefully and try to stop it before it is completely full. it sprays gas all over me, the parking lot and the jeep. this is very dangerous and i'm afraid of a fire.
11/03/201158500
When filling up the jeep with gas this morning, fuel shot out of the jeep about 3 feet and also ran down the side of the jeep right when the fuel pump shut off. had i been standing in front of the fuel tank, i would have been covered in gas to include my face. this is a known problem and chrysler needs to recall this! this is not only a safety probem, but a hazmat problem as well.

Fuel tank overflows every time i fill up. gas spills on the ground. it happens at all the gas stations i visit in multiple states, including texas, arkansas, missouri, illinois and indiana.
08/30/2008
Every time i fill up my gas tank at the pump fuel flies up out of the tank and all over the place. everytime i fill up i have to clean gas off of my vehicle and the ground.

While filling up my 2005 jeep wrangler no matter the speed of the gas flow there is a very large amount of gas overflow. this happens every time and at all gas stations i try.
04/01/2009
Every single time i put gas in the jeep, it overflows. even if i listen carefully and try to stop it before it is completely full. it sprays gas all over me, the parking lot and the jeep. this is very dangerous and i'm afraid of a fire.

My fuel tank overflowed during fuel fill up. this has happened the last 4 or 5 times consistently. i even tried to fill the fuel tank at the slowest speed possible and it still overflowed and came out the filler neck when full.

Every time during refueling the gas spits, or splashes out. this causes a significant amount of gasoline to be spilled on the vehicle and the ground. it is not only a waste, an environmental hazard, but a safety hazard. please discuss the matter further with jeep. i am not the only owner with this issue, and far many more owners have yet to report this problem.

Whenever i am filling up my jeep it regularly overflows causing fuel to spill all over myself, vehicle, and ground. it typically spills for a few seconds until the pump shuts off but it is a hassle, fire hazard, and costly. i am aware of many other jeep wrangler owners that have this problem

I do not recall exactly when this issue began. but my 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited spills fuel every time i fill up the tank. the gas does not shut off when full and over a cup of fuel spills out. the dealer ship claims that they have never heard of such a problem on jeeps older than 2007.

Fuel overflows from filler neck everytime purchasing fuel regardless of fuel station. this is a substantial quantity of fuel that represents a fire and environmental hazard. fuel splashed out and got on my 3.5 year old daughter even though she was standing at what was considered to be a safe distance. it is not uncommon for fuel to shoot out close to 3 feet. when you think the tank is almost full even when slowing down the pump fuel will still splash out.

Every time i need to fill my 2005 jeep wrangler with gas it spills out of the nozzle and all over the ground right at the pump. this situation is extremely dangerous, bad for the environment and wasteful. no matter how the nozzle is held, what gas company i use or how slow i let it pump in the fuel seems to change the final outcome of a large slosh of gasoline gushing out onto the ground. as an added consequence, many gas stations don't even have the means or proper equipment to clean up this hazardous waste spill. i have seen nothing released and no fixes for this problem from jeep or any other company because apparently jeep does not feel that it is important enough, dangerous enough or even enough of a pain to their customers to offer a remedy. if it wasn't so dangerous to hold an electronic device while filling my vehicle, i'd happily send a video in of what it does when it reaches the top of the tank.

The gas tank on my 2005 wrangler x has an issue with overflowing or spurting gas instead of shutting off like it should. this has happened at almost every gas station i have taken it to so i'm certain its not an issue with a particular pump. i have also read about other jeep owners having this problem.

2005 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited overflow fuel onto the ground (more than 1 cup) at every fill up. the tank also stops short of the expected volume. vehicle has 47k miles and is past warranty. as stated, this happens at every fillup. the evaporative control filling units (like found in houston) have a further issue of not operating faster than the first 'click'. the safety and environmental issue is directly tied to the release (sometimes violent) of fuel from the filler neck onto the ground or bystanders. watershed will push this raw fuel directly into storm drains, and in this area, into our drinking water aquafer recharge zones.

Every time i try and fill up the gas tank on my 2005 jeep wrangler tj, gas overflows down the side of my vehicle. this happens at any and every pump i go to. i've never had this problem with any other car. why hasn't this been recalled? besides being dangerous, it's also wasting my money, since up to a quart of gasoline comes shooting out every time i fill up.

The vehicle has spewed gasoline all over the vehicle and the person who fuels the vehicle since the first time the vehicle was filled with fuel after purchase. the issue was reported to the dealer and was ignored. there was nothing printed on warranty print out after service for multiple items(steering dampener). years after i spoke with same dealer and was told to bring it in as it was a common problem and chrysler had been repairing on other vehicles. upon arrival they try to charge me for repair. i refused. i am stunned that the nhtsa has elected to ignore this problem and label it as an internet sensation when there is literally a mountain of empirical evidence. i can provide videos, pictures, and make my self available for inspection today. i can show this problem is widespread and can be repeated on a large number vehicles using the same part. this is also an environmental issue as large quantities of fuel are being dumped on the ground on a daily basis. i find that the chrysler as well as nhtsa are in fact negligent by not pursuing their investigation of this hazardous condition. i have to question the relevance of nhtsa when such an obvious defect is reported only to be ignored. your organization has essentially told the vehicle owners that if they organize on the internet their claims will be considered to lack merit. in addition, the same parts in other chrysler products can be shown to have been considered by your organization to be faulty, yet ignored in earlier models. in fact, chrysler at times replaces these same parts at random in other models that have not been declared in a recall. *note: the date of first instance is not correct as i cannot recall the exact date of purchase. however, this has occurred every single time i fill the vehicle up and has so since the first time. i purchased the vehicle used but under mfg warranty

06/01/201042000
Fuel spills/splashes out with every fill-up. nozzle position or rate of fill does not change result. have only ever used regular unleaded fuel, 87 grade w/ 10% or less ethanol. approximately 1 cup of fuel ends up on the ground, the body of the jeep, shoes, pants, and/or hands every single time. this is an environmental and health hazard.

Gas overflows from the fill point every time i refuel, regardless of gas station used or fill speed. this presents a fire and health hazard to the person refueling.
05/20/201140000
On my 2005 jeep wrangler gas over flows out of the fill tube every time i gas up. i have used many different gas stations with the pumps at many different speeds. no matter what i do, the gas always overflows when i gas up. it has done this since i purchase the jeep 3 years ago. i would estimate about a quart of gasoline splashes out all over me, my jeep, and on the ground. this is a serious fire and safety hazard. some thing needs to be done. when i leave the gas station there is a visible puddle of gasoline on the ground because the fuel backstop valve in the jeep does not stop the gas from splashing out.

Gas tank overflows and splashes out gas when filling the vehicle with gas. it occurs at every fill up and at various gas stations/pumps. the result is gas splashing and flowing out of the filler nozzle posing a fire hazard and exposure to a solvent. the gas tank was removed and the vent hoses inspected with no abnormalities found.
02/01/2011
When filling the gas tank the gas always spews out without the nozzle cutting off.
07/30/201052000
Fuel sprays out and runs over side of fuel inlet when tank has filled. this happens on 100% of fillups, eliminating a defective pump nozzle from possible causes. spilled fuel can be anywhere from a few tablespoons to half a liter.

My 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited (24,000 miles) started spitting a small amount of gasoline from the filler tube about a year ago. it would spit out about a second after the nozzle shut off. like many others that are experiencing this problem, i blamed the station

When filling up my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon gas sprays everywhere. it will spray either all over my car or spit out at least 3-4 feet and hit the car next to me. this happens everytime i fill the gas tank to full.

When filling the fuel tank, the auto shut-off does not engage. this is a hazard because fuel spills over and out onto the vehicle and surrounding pavement.

When filling the fuel tank, the auto shut-off does not engage. this is a hazard because fuel spills over and out onto the vehicle and surrounding pavement.

Every time i fill my gas tank it overflows all over the outside of the vehicle. the automatic shut off on the gas pumps does not do anything. the gas pump will shut off automatically and still over flow. sick and tired of constantly cleaning gas off the outside of my car.

2005 jeep tj while filling does not click the pump off and therefore leaks and spilss out all over the road causing an epa nightmare. happens all the time when filling up. there is a known problem with jeeps doing this but the government pays no attention. maybe the epa is too busy worrying about something else other than fuel spillage and seepage into water supplies...?

Fuel tank belches gasoline out before auto shut off occurs, spraying gas outward on vehicle and operator.
02/08/201162000
When filling up the vehicle's fuel tank, an air pocket is trapped at the top of the tank. when the tank becomes full, this air pocket rushes towards the neck and out towards the person filling up the vehicle. each time this occurs, fuel spews onto the side of the vehicle and sometimes sprays outward onto the pump handle and me. this is dangerous not only for the environment, but for me filling up the vehicle because it has the potential to get into my eyes/face when the fuel and air bubble rush out. i took the vehicle in to the local jeep dealership and another reputable mechanic, and both said they could put a new tank on, but that may not fix the problem because the tanks on the wranglers have a manufacturing defect that causes this problem. all sensors and vents on my tank are working properly. when the fuel tank becomes full, the pump is shut off as it is supposed to, but about half a second afterwards is when the air and fuel spew out. i am not letting the vehicle run while filling up, nor am i trying to top the tank off. this is a defect in the fuel tank of this vehicle and this problem needs to be addressed by jeep. i just purchased the vehicle, and this happens whenever i fill up. i do not know if this happened to the previous owners or not, there are multiple forums on the internet that state that there are a large number of wrangler owners that are having this problem.

Every time i attempt to fill the gas tank on my 2005 jeep wrangler x fuel overflows at the point at which it should automatically shut off. on some occassions its a small amount, other times, its sprays out forcefully and gets all over me, my jeep, the ground, and anything else in the immediate area. it does not matter which gas station i fill up at, it happens everywhere. my only solution is to attempt to calculate how much i can put in manually without totally filling it up. lots of guesswork involved, sometimes unsuccessfully. i see spraying a flammable liquid around in an unintended manner as a safety hazard. so far, jeep does not see it the same way....

Gasoline spits out of tank while filling with fuel. this occurs every time i refuel. this is a health risk as well as an environmental risk that needs to be addressed.

I am an owner of a 2006 jeep wrangler, and my tank overflows everytime i fill up the jeep. even though the fuel pump clicks off when full, fuel will splash out of the fill nozzle and onto the ground. it also leaks on the vehicle.

I am experiencing a continuing, dangerous and worsening spraying of gasoline when i fill the tank of my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited. i have video evidence of this problem, and has been occurring since the vehicle had approximately 40,000 miles on it. i just learned this safety issue is well known within the jeep community.

Approximately 1 year ago my 2005 jeep wrangler began overflowing from the fuel inlet during refueling. if i am not careful during refueling fuel will spit out from around the nozzle and spill down the vehicle. i have been doused with fuel on my legs and feet. the fuel tank automatic cut off does not appear to be functioning properly.

I purchased a used 2005 jeep wrangler with 17,000 miles. when i filled the tank, gas would gush out of the filler and splash all over the side of the vehicle. i had the vehicle repaired under warranty (new fuel tank), which did correct the problem. now, at just over 51,000 miles, the problem has returned. every time i fill the vehicle, this dangerous fuel spill occurs. i live in a very dry (low humidity) climate, and it is very common to get static discharge when touching any conductive surface. i am fearful that i am going to experience a vehicle fire if this situation continues. i can not understand how this problem has not caused a recall to correct the defect.

My 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited has an overfilling problem every single time i fill up at the gas station. it doesn't matter if i use the lowest setting on the gas pump or if i manually use as little pressure as possible, it overfills every single time and gas pours out of the fill spout running down the body of the vehicle, on my hand, on my clothes and on the ground. this is an extremely dangerous problem and affects the 2003-2006 jeep wrangler series.

When filling my fuel tank, gas comes out/backs up and spills down side of vehicle or splashes to the ground. i want to be clear that i am not topping off. this happens every time i fill up regardless of the station.

When filling up the vehicle with gasoline, when the pump cuts off gasoline spurts out all over the side of the vehicle and the ground and sometimes over the person filling the tank. this happens whether the nozzle is being held and squeezed by the person filling or is locked in position for handsfree filling. it has happened consistently with fillups for the past 4-5 months no matter which gas station is used.
08/01/201075000
During fueling, when the fuel pump nozzle automatically stops the flow of gasoline , fuel surges back through the filler tube and vigorously splashes out on the side of the vehicle and anything or person within 2 to 3 feet of the fuel filler. this occurs every time the fuel tank is filled. it has spilled fuel on every fill up (at least one cup), despite precautions (slowing filling rate). manufacturer and dealer have done nothing to correct this problem, this happens every time i fill up.

At around the 50k mileage mark, fuel would gush out when filling up the tank. tried different gas stations, old and brand new pumps, all resulted in gas gushing out as the pump turned off. chrysler-jeep service replaced the fuel filler tube. topped off the gas tank after the fix, seemed good. let the tank go down to less than 1/4 then filled the tank and the gas gushed out yet again! this is both a safety and environment issue. please request jeep to find a real fix for this and issue a recall.

When i fill my jeep up with fuel it always overflows with fuel spewing on me the ground and my vehicle. nothing seems to change it not slowing down the pump or anything. my research brings me to it being a failure with the rollover/checkvalve at the bottom of the filler tube failing to close allowing fuel to overflow. here are some examples of other people with the same problem http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-spilling-over-when-filling-872096/ i have two more friends with jeeps with the same problem. nothing was done to fix the issue it isn't covered under warranty. was going to enter my vin but the vin entry doesn't work. so no vin.

My new used 2005 jeep tj will spill gas all over the place when filling up gas. it doesn't matter if i do it manually or let it fill up with the auto switch on. even when i hear the gas near the top of the tank it still spits gas out of the tank and onto my hands, the side of the jeep and on the ground. what a pain in the ass.
08/01/200945000
While filling gas tank in san diego at the same location i had filled up at many times the fuel pump kicked off and in less than a second later gas came squirting out of the vent holes with enough force to spray gas 3 - 4 feet away from the car. i initially thought it may be a problem with the pump but over the last 10 month this has occurred at many different gas stations. i have also tried filling at the lowest speed of the pump but it will still spray out. it stopped for a month or so but has started up again over this last month. this is very dangerous when it comes out with enough force to get into someone's eyes or possibly cause a fire. the first time this happened my shirt and pants were sprayed with gas.

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited has developed a faulty rollover valve in the gas tank causing fuel spills when refueling. chrysler denies warranty claims stating this is normal wear. however, this is an extreme safety hazard - fumes and potential for fires and explosion as well as harmful to the environment.

My gas tank over flows and gasoline gushes out every time i fill my gas tank at every gas station. the gasoline pump auto shut off valve does not activate until gasoline gushes out past the gas tank filler neck and into the plastic gas fill area. from there the gasoline continues to leak onto the painted body of my jeep. notably, trying to insert the gasoline pump into all conceivable depths into the gasoline fuel filler neck has no effect on the gasoline gushing issue. this problem didn't start until my jeep hit about 40,000 miles on the odometer (i am the 1st owner). this leads me to believe something within the fuel filling system or possibly evap system is corroded, plugged up, or otherwise fouled as there is no exterior damage. this could create multiple dangerous situations both at the gas station and on the road.

The fuel tank fill with overflow gasoline during fill up. this happens with every fill up since 2006. the jeep was purchased in 2005. this seems like a common problem with jeep wranglers.
11/23/201066891
When filling up the gas tank, the tank seems to have a venting or pressure problem. when the tank is being filled, gasoline shoots out of the tank violently as it approaches full.

Fuel overflows and spills every time the vehicle is refueled. problem has been identified as a bad check valve in the gas tank which requires the gas tank to be replaced. same tank and just a matter of time until it reoccurs. this is a safety hazard and an environmental concern as approximately 1 cup of fuel is spilled on the operator.

2005 jeep wrangler has fuel spillover about 9 out of 10 times i fill up the gas tank whether or not i hand pump the fuel. there have been no modifications made to this vehicle. this problem has been occurring since november 2009. fuel spills down the side of the vehicle, sometimes on me (oh, and i'm pregnant), and on the ground. various approaches to filling the tank have been made, but nothing seems to alleviate the problem.

2005 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon fuel tank overflows 80% of the time i fill up. once, it kept running without stopping and spilling 5-10 gallons. this caused me to slip in the gas resulting in whiplash which i am still having to address 2 months later. this is a major fire hazard, safety hazard, environmental concern and monetary problem and jeep/chrysler needs to own up to the problem and issue a recall. if not, the government needs to force the issue.

Every time i attempt to fill my 2005 jeep wrangler's tank to full, gas spills out of the fuel tube after the pump shuts off automatically. this is at least 8oz of fuel easily gushing out and is a fire hazard. i am the second owner, and have only owned it since 7/31/10. i have filled the tank 4 times and all 4 times this has occurred. a google search revealed a wrangler forum where countless jeep owners are experiencing the same issue, chrysler will not issue a recall even though they have paid for numerous gas tanks to be replaced. i have not called chrysler yet, because i already know the runaround i will encounter based on other's experience, and am waiting until i have some time off next week to devote to this frustrating phone call.

At the 65k mile mark everytime i fill up the gas will overflow and spill out of the filler tube. from the research i have done there are alot of tj owners that this is happening to. it is a saftey problem because if i have the top off my 3 year old son sides right above the fuel filler tube and gas could splash onto him.
08/17/201087000
2005 jeep wrangler, fuel overfills every time i go to the pump. when the fuel pump auto stops about a quart of fuel shoots out of the vehicle filler tube. the fuel has splashed all over the vehicle, and my clothes. this occurs on the first auto shut-off and is not due to topping-off the tank. this is a common problem on the jeep wrangler and is well documented on the internet.

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon. it is unmodified. it will consistently overflow at the gas pump if i fill the tank. therefore, i must monitor the pump closely and stop short of filling the tank to avoid this problem. something is not working correctly.

Gas tank overflows everytime i fill my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited with fuel. i have not taken any corrective action to prevent this from happening.
06/27/201072080
My jeep wrangler spills gas from the fill pipe everytime it is filled up. im not topping it off. it does this everytime from the first shutoff. its not the nozzle as this happens at all different gas stations. i found on jeep forum this seems to be a common problem with all wranglers. this can be a safety concern as a fire could happen or skin irritation can occur as sometimes i get splashed with fuel.
01/01/200955000
2005 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited. no excessive wear or tear. vehicle has been splashing gas every time the tank is topped off for over a year. this causes anywhere from a half pint to a quart of gas to spray and run down the side of the jeep. as far as i know jeep has not issued a recall to fix what i see as a significant safety issue.

I have a 2005 jeep wrangler rocky moutain edition. every time i fill up a the gas station gas over flows. it doesn't matter if i barely squeeze the handle, or leave it on the auto flow notches. it has been doing this for the past 2 years.

A valve inside the fuel tank is faulty leading to fuel spillage after the gas nozzle clicks off due to pressure buildup. this is a very common problem for this car, and completely unacceptable and it seems jeep does not want to do anything. this is a safety hazard, as fuel spills all over the side of the vehicle and ground. this is also an emissions issue.
01/01/200860000
Every time i fill the gas tank, it overflows after the nozzle clicks closed. the only way i've found to prevent this is to 'guess' when the tank is almost full, then put my ear to the opening and listen for fuel coming to the top. that's dangerous and should be unnecessary. this has been happening over the last two years.

At the end of fueling fuel shoots from filler neck after fuel pump shut off.
05/06/201035000
My fuel tank overflows every time i fill up, spilling gasoline all over my jeep, gas cap, and ground. can be very dangerous, especially if standing by gas tank while filling up. what if a small kid walks up to my car when it spills out? i see 86+ complaints on this site for this exact problem and nothing has been done! it's been happening to me for well over 3 years.
04/28/201045000
Every time i refuel my 2005 jeep wrangler a large amount of fuel spits out of the fuel filler onto the ground. it appears to be a problem with the design of the check valve built into the fuel tank. this manufacturing defect is a major fire hazard as well as an environmental hazard.

2005 jeep wrangler fuel spilling when fueled. at around 20,000 miles every time i fill up the tank gas is spit out. i have never had this problem with any other vehicle i have driven. i even tried running the nozzle at the slowest speed possible, and it will still spit some out. talking to other jeep owners we have determined that this is a major issue effecting mostly 2004 wranglers and newer. this is a safety issue, environmental issue, if not careful it can cover the person fueling with gas, and other people if they are close enough, and it wastes precious gas.

 Fuel overflow when refueling.
04/15/201040016
When filling up with gas, the gas pump automaticly shut off the gas flow from the pump and then the gas tank will spit out gas from the vehicle's tank.

Jeep wrangler fuel tank splashes gasoliine onto pavement as fill pump shuts off. it happens at any station, and at any fill speed.
01/01/201045000
I have a 2005 jeep wrangler rocky mountain edition. every fill up results in an overflow of gas because the nozzle does not automatically shut off until the tank overflows. this has been going on for a few months and was never a problem before.
04/10/2010
My 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon overflows fuel every time i fill up the gas tank. for some reason the gas pump will never stop filling the tank automatically until a large amount of fuel comes spilling out of the fill tube. i have read many complaints about this issue on jeep forums online, and feel that chrysler should be recalling affected models to fix this issue.

When fueling my vehicle, the pump stops but gas flows out of the filler. i have to fill the tank very slowly to prevent this from happening. thgis happens every time i get fuel.

Every time we fill up with gas, it overflows or sprays out when the nossle clicks off. we took it in to get it warrantied, and jeep said it was our fault from offroading. how could that be when it has done it since brand new? they informed us it will cost us about $1000.00 to fix, i think it is a defect.

My 2005 jeep wrangler sport has a fuel tank overflow issue. when filling the tank up it inevitably overflows regardless of what station, existing fuel level or type of filler nozzle. it is also my understanding that this issue is rather widespread. i initially believed that something had simply broken, but after a bit of research i am not alone. please look into this.

My gas tank overflows after the machine clicks off. this happens every time in my 2005 jeep wrangler with 28k miles on it.
04/05/2010
On 4/5/2010 i purchased a used 2005 jeep wrangler. i drove it from il to pa. during that drive i needed to get gas 3 times. each time i filled the gas the tank overfilled and fuel was spilled. i went online today to check on this issue and found many others seem to be having the same problem.
04/16/2005
My 2005 jeep wrangler will have gas( fuel ) spillage when filling tank. fuel nozzle will discharge fuel onto ground and side of vehicle at the end of fueling. this happens every time. this happens if nozzle shuts off by it's self or if i am filling .

2005 jeep wrangler lj/tj rubicon unlimited when filling up with gasoline the tank overflows out of the vehicle spraying onto the operartor of the gas pump and flooding the immediate area and on the ground. this is very dangerous and the operator of the pump is covered in gas and fumes this could cause a fire and damage to the skin and eyes; in worse case scenario an explosion if a cell phone is in ones pocket or nearby. please recall these vehicles immediately; it happens to almost every jeep wrangler and eventually will effect all. this is not from topping off or using a high pressure gas nozzle or one gas station. this happens no matter where i am and if i don't time if correctly gasoline will be all over the place. although not serious, at one time gasoline did spray enough on a windy day to hit me in the eye causing a burning sensation and redness obviously i could not operate the vehicle for about 10 minutes. if a young child is near by this would be a serious issue.
10/25/200930000
Everytime the gas tank is filled up, fuel comes launching out from around the pump handle spraying anyone standing within a couple of feet of the pump. this occurs every time the tank is filled, at every gas station. jeep has suggested a replacement tank, but with no assurances that it will solve the problem. the results of a online search indicates a replacement tank will not solve the problem.

 1. filling the gas tank in my 2005 jeep wrangler, if i allow the pump to actually fill it up (until you hear the click sound) just before the click gas sprays out of the filler nozzle (at least a couple cups worth). 2. this happens every single time i let the pump fill my tank until full. i very quickly learned that i'd have to just estimate how much gas i needed, round down, and not fill up all the way (manually). 3. i took it to the jeep dealer, and they said they didn't find anything wrong with my fuel filler or tank, despite this being a widely documented issue on www.jeepforum.com. on a later page it kept saying it was invalid, even though i know this is correct. *tr

Fuel spill while refilling. the pump did not shut off while filling with gas. happens everytime i fill up all the way.
02/04/201054300
When fueling, gas shoots out of filler tube due to defective check valve. this is both a fire hazard and an environmental concern, not to mention the fact that the person filling the tank gets gas all over them.

Every time i put gas in my 2005 jeep wrangler it overflows, and spills gas all over the jeep, and the ground.

2005 jeep wrangler - gasoline overflows from filler neck while gas is pumped everytime tank is filled completely. waste of gas and potential fire hazard.

Gas tank overflows at the pump, not the first time - has happend many, many times since i purchased the jeep. probably 7 out of ten times
03/16/201025000
There is a problem with my fuel tank, every time i fill up, regardless of the gas station i go to, fuel overflows from my 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited onto the pavement. i have tried over 30 different gas stations in 3 different states. i have heard this same complaint from many other jeep and chrysler product owners. the constant exposure to fuel is damaging the paint on my fender and i can only imagine it is not good for the pavement. also, i have to worry about fire every time i fill up.
03/17/20100
I bought the jeep as a certified pre-owned chrysler. i've only owned the jeep for a month and noticed gas pumps do not shut off when filling the tank. i've tried multiple pumps, at different gas stations. it happens about 90% of the time. the local dealership said it's not something covered under warranty. seems like a major safety hazard.
03/15/201001
At the end of the pumping of gas, it spews out the fuel line and all over my jeep and the ground. this seems like a safety and ecological issue. i have tried everything from pumping fast to slow, nozzle right side up to upside down, all the way in and half way out. nothing stops the problem. *tr

 1) when filling gas tank with nozzle correctly inserted into fuel tank filler, the gas will overflow out of tank before nozzle shuts off. gasoline then spills all over the vehicle and on the tarmac. creating a fire hazard. 2) this occurs 90% of the time i gas up. every time it leaves a puddle of gas at the station and my vehicle is covered with gas as well. 3) so far i have not performed any service to correct failure. *tr
03/01/20101
When refueling, fuel will overflow from the filler neck before the pump will stop. once the fuel comes out, the pump will then stop. this has happened regularly at different gas stations and results in approximately 0.25 gallon of fuel on the vehicle and ground. *tr
03/01/2010218091
Gas tank overflow: the gas tank will spurt gas out automatically when it is full rather than having the pump click to inform you that it is full. *tr
05/01/2008300001
Fuel surges back out of fill tube while refueling. this happens everytime i refuel no matter what gas station, gas pump, how much fuel is added. about a quart of fuel will burp back out and will splash on the vehicle, ground, and person refueling the jeep. i took my jeep to the dealership where they admitted the problem is a faulty check valve located inside of the gas tank. the only repair is to replace the gas tank. i had to pay for the repairs because i'm the second owner of the vehicle which is only 5 years old and has 53,000 miles. this is clearly a manufactures defect and a safety issue that should be looked into and should be considered to be a recall at the manufactures expense. *tr
03/02/20101
I have a 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited. this vehicle has a fuel overflow spill problem every time i gas it up. as a matter of fact, i have been banned from a local gas station because i constantly spill fuel due to a jeep defect that does not shut the fuel pump prior to fill. clearly a safety and environmental problem. *tr

02/28/2010500001
2005 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited - when fueling my vehicle at a gas station and reaching the full level gas spills out onto the vehicle and anything close by because of an inefficient design in the two pressure tubes on the fuel tank. this is a known issue with jeep wrangler tj/lj models amongst the jeeping communities but no action has ever been taken to address this by any agency or company. there are significant numbers of jeep wranglers owners reporting this problem but no action has ever been taken because as of yet no resulting loss of life or significant harm has occurred. i have personally experienced this issue at almost every occasion where i had to stop and fuel my vehicle. it has occurred at both older gas stations without spill resistant nozzles and gas stations with the newer spill resistant pressure nozzles. i believe this is due to the design of the jeep gas tank having one of the two pressure tubes involving an inner tube that extends several inches into the tank to attempt to equalize pressure which actually creates an air imbalance that allows for fuel to surge back up the spout during refueling when the fuel flow into the tank is stopped. *tr

While at the pump the gas nozzle kicks off and then about a pint of fuel dumps out of the vehicle. this is widely known on the wranglers, with the oldest vehicle i've heard this happening to is from '98 and newest a 2009. jeep redesigned the wrangler in '97 including the fuel system, so i'm sure there's a defect in the fuel system. chrysler's answer is to just replace the tank which will eventually fail again. this can be a serious hazard and could easily cause a fire. one guy said it dumped fuel on his boots while another guy had fuel spray him from head to toe. here is a few links from one forum showing the issue including a few videos (fast forward to the last 20 seconds) and many complaints about this issue. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/have-fuel-spill-problems-like-many-us-submit-complaint-force-recall-974337/ http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-spilling-over-when-filling-872096/. *tr

My 2005 jeep wrangler spews gas out the filler every time i fill it up. this started around 30,000 miles and has been doing it since. fortunately this has not caused any serious problem yet but spilling gas every time i fill up is not only a waste but a hazard to the environment and a dangerous situation. this is not a lone incident, many reports of this exact issue have come up on internet forums and other jeep owners of similar years who i know. people are even posting videos of it on u tube! from my limited research this appears to be a faulty valve in the gas tank, which dealerships are not covering under warranty. *tr

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler lwb, recently, every time i fill up with fuel, gas shoots out of the fuel filler. this defect is well documented on the jeep website forums. it seems chrysler is replacing some fuel tanks, as they are attributed to the rollover valve, built into the tank. but, as i see it, this is a design flaw, as the tanks they are replacing, will in time, do the same thing. your timely investigation of this matter, is of utmost importance. the violence of some of the spills i have witnessed, deserve immediate action. *tr

Hello, our 2005 jeep wrangler has an issue with gas spilling out of the gas tank whenever it is filled up at the gas station. a significant volume of gasoline sprays outward onto the driver, and down the side of the vehicle, which i believe may be a safety concern. it seems this is a design flaw and is quite common, as i have even seen video documentation on web sites such as youtube. *tr

I have on multiple occasions had fuel overflow (actually more shoot out) while fueling my 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon. it occurs as the fuel is nearing full. this has happened at many different fueling locations and i always pump on the lowest setting. i have even been sprayed manually filling the tank. after reading the tj technical forum on jeepforum.com this seems to be an extremely common problem. the approximate incident date is the last time this happened. *tr

 1. two months ago while at the gas station filling the tank of my 2005 jeep wrangler x, the pump did not shutoff and fuel spilled. i thought this was a problem with the stations pump, so i decided to try a different station for my next fill-up. a week later; while filling at another station the same problem occurred. 2. in the three instances the over flow happened; i was holding the fill handle in the 6 o'clock position, the nozzle was fully inserted into the fill hole, and i had the handle fully depressed (nozzle wide open). as the tank reached full, it did not automatically shutoff, it continued filling until about a quart of gasoline spilled onto the side of my vehicle and the ground. i have contacted chrysler's warranty department, service contracts department, goodwill team, and senior resolution team to make them aware of the defect and request them to take action. unfortunately, i believe my calls are being simply marked to a case file and no investigatory action is being taken. i can easily see an incident such as mine leading to injury of an unknowing chrysler owner. if any static charge is present (i.e. in clothing or the vehicle) when the overflow occurs the gas will ignite. the problem poses the greatest threat when it happens the first time, because the owner will have no warning signals of a failed part(s) and therefore will not be expecting the spill. 3. to avoid this problem from happening; i know longer fill my tank to its' full 16 gallon capacity. i have taken my vehicle to the local jeep dealership and they have advised that i need to replace the vapor canister. *tr

2005 jeep wrangler x gas tank auto-shut off malfunction the auto-shut off of the gas pump when the tank is detected as full has malfunctioned several times causing an overflow and spillage of gasoline when re-fueling. this is regardless of the gas station (company) and pump, it appears the auto-shut off is not working correctly. the vehicle is less than 5 years old and has 52,000 miles. *tr

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler. when filling up the vehicle with gasoline it often doesn't register the fact that the tank is full and the gas comes pouring out. the gas leaks onto me, my jeep and the ground. this happens every time i fill my tank. i see this as a safety issue since it's bad to get gasoline on your body/clothing, it's also damaged the paint on my jeep in that area and the spillage on the ground is not good for the environment and a danger for others as well. nothing has been done to correct the failure. chrysler claims they don't see it as a safety hazard. of course, it is a safety hazard. there is a faulty part in the gas tank/gas tank assembly that some of us cannot afford to pay for out of pocket. in fact, why should we? it's a defect from the factory. this has been ongoing but i listed the approximate incident date as the month i purchased the vehicle. *tr

After having my jeep for 3 1/2 years, every time i fill up my gas tank (no matter what gas station) the automatic shut off does not work on the pump and large amounts of gas spill out everywhere. it did not do this for the first 3 1/2 years of owning the vehicle. numerous other people on the internet are experiencing the same issue and it's believed to be the roll over check valve in the tank being bad. located here is just one 14 page discussion: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/gas-spilling-over-when-filling-872096/ if this is happening with this many people it could be a major fire and environmental hazard at a gas station. *tr
08/01/2007750001
No events leading up to failure, just happened one day. it happened to me around 75, 000 miles on my jeep, and ever since. the problem is that when i put gas into my jeep the tank isn't venting properly, which cause gas to gush out the filler opening after the pump has automatically turn off. it doesn't matter where or when i fill up, it will do it every time unless i pump the gas is really slow. nothing has been done to correct the part. according to other jeep wrangler owners they have been told by the dealer its a faulty roll valve inside the gas tank. which requires the entire tank to be replaced. according to one dealer this is considered a normal wear item. yet a faulty roll over valve sounds like a safety item to me. i have heard of people having this same problem with 30k miles on their jeeps. *tr

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler x model. every time i fill up at the gas station, gas will spray profusely out of the filler neck at the same time as the automatic cutoff. i cannot fill my tank without getting sprayed. i know several people with the same model vehicle that are experiencing the same problem, so i do not feel that this is an isolated incident. *tr

Fuel surges back out of fill tube while refueling. it happens everytime i refuel the vehicle. huge safety factor because about a quart of gasoline gets on me, the vehicle, and the ground. called chrysler to complain and they will not repair the issue because i'm the second owner. i have heard of numerous wrangler owners with the same issue. *tr
10/01/2008420001
Jeep wrangler always sprays out fuel a second or two after the automatic shutoff shuts off the pump. fuel is sprayed on the vehicle, ground, pump, and any person standing anywhere near the nozzle. it does this at multiple gas stations, and multiple pumps. running the pump on the slowest possible setting is the only workaround, which results in a small amount spilling on the ground. this has occurred on both my jeep wranglers, and has been doing it for over a year now. *tr
12/08/20091
2005 jeep wrangler when filling the fuel tank it always overflows when full. it does not shut off and spills onto the ground. this did not originally do this but has happened over time on it's own. not only is this inconvenient but it is also dangerous. after talking with other wrangler owners an amazing amount of them also experience this problem. *tr
12/01/2009350001
While refueling vehicle when tank reaches almost full gas surges out of fill tube. i have heard of numerous wrangler owners with the same problem. #1 this is extremely dangerous due to the possibility of fire and #2 cannot be friendly to our environment by spilling about a quart of gasoline on ground everytime i fill up. *tr
07/15/2008250001
Starting at approximately 25000 miles, gas began spilling out of the filler nozzle during refueling. this occurs regardless of station location. the jeep was brought to a mechanic who claimed it was an issue inside the tank. no repairs have been made at this time. problem still occurs. *tr
12/01/2009530001
Jeep wranglers have a common issue when filling the gas tank. for whatever reason (bad pressure release valve?) filling the tank will often result in fuel squirting back out the filler neck once it is full. this happens suddenly, and fuel shoots back out a good distance, causing a potentially hazardous condition. i've spoken with many other jeep wrangler owners that are experiencing this issue. *tr
12/21/2008250001
I cannot fill my gas tank full without gas coming out spilling on the vehicle and on me. i own a 2005 jeep wrangler. it only has 25,258 miles on it. when i purchased the vehicle i did not purchase an extended warranty. i spoke to chrysler motors corp customer center (1-800-992-1997) (ref. #18329606) on february 10, 2009 about this safety issue. i am requesting that chrysler repairs the gas tank for me because lives are at danger when the vehicle is filled up with gas and gas comes out of the tank. gas is getting on the vehicle, my hands and the ground at the pump. armbruster motor co. (1-800-766-0980) informed me on february 6, 2009, the only way to correct this issue was to purchase a new gas tank. the cost of a new gas tank would be around $500.00. chrysler told me that they will not pay for a new gas tank but if i pay for the new gas tank they would cover the new tank for 12 months or 12,000 miles. i believe chrysler should pay for this repair because they designed the faulty gas tank that was originally placed on the vehicle. this is an extremely dangerous situation when i fill my vehicle with gas. it is not like the radio doesn't work, spilled gas is a fire hazard. *tr thank you, jennifer willman

Normal driving results in a change in the shifting action of the automatic electronic transmission. if the vehicle is warm the electronic buzz lengthens and prevents the shifting from one gear position to the next. the transmission rumbles and skips before changing to the next gear for a second or more. the gears clearly are not engaging in a timely manner and prevents ready movement after shifting to a new gear position. after long drives this is noticeable during normal unhurried parking maneuvers. this action was initially observed at about 384 miles on odometer and brought to the attention of the dealer. the second problems has occurred on 5 or more occasions where the idle speed does not go to normal after removing pressure from the accelerator. was first noticed on hills in city of san francisco and has been noticed in traffic on several other occasions. the engine noise is quite audible when this occurs and idles above 1000 and carries vehicle at 10 plus mph on flat surfaces. the vehicle also surges after short drives and is noticeable in parking lots or garage parking. there have been three dangerous instances while in traffic. this will occur in both reverse and forward drives. the drive train also has a loud resonating sound which sounds as though the rotating is not uniform at low speeds. the dealer says this is a normal sound. all of these concerns were observed after about 300 miles and brought to the attention of the dealer. the dealer does not acknowledge hearing the gear sounds, said the idle would adjust after 3600 miles and has not addressed the surging. *nm
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM

The main issue of concern is what i describe as surging, what i mean is the vehicle wants to go without any input from the driver. what i have determined is that the vehicle has a fluctuating idle rpm as opposed to a steady idle rpm and when the idle rpm drops below an acceptable level the computer sends a signal to kick the throttle and the vehicle then surges. i have reported this problem to my dealer and they responded by saying they couldn't verify the concern. a co-worker recently purchased the same vehicle type, engine transmission and so on and has reported the same issue to her dealer and was also told that the concern was not verifiable. *jb

I own a 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon. nearly every time i fill up at a gas station the gas nozzle does not click off when the tank is near full and gas runs down over the side of the car, the fender and onto the ground (and sometimes onto clothes/shoes). i have owned the jeep for almost a year now (i am the second owner) and it has done this ever since i purchased it.

Each time i top off the tank in my 2005 jeep wrangler, the tank overflows and gas runs down the side of my vehicle. i am both paying for gas that is being wasted, and having to deal with the likelihood that the paint underneath my gas cap will soon be ruined. *tr

I purchased my jeep in may of 2005. since that time the engine light has come on and the o2 sensor replaced three times. the light is on again. i truly feel there has been a malfunction in these sensors, since i talk to other jeep owners and they have the same issue. can you fix this under a recall? *tr
