Uncontrollable wobble in front axle/wheels and shaking of steering wheel.

Now that have forced chrysler to recall jeep models for airbag problems how about forcing jeep/chrysler to recall and fix jeep for the death wobble. i first experienced this last year. at about 50mph the vehicle began to shake violently. i thought i was in a blender. i checked the internet and jeep forum and found this to be a common problem with jeep wranglers. i even checked with the jeep dealer here in oklahoma and was told it could be the ball joints, steering cylinder and/or even worn tires. he even acknowledged the problem. my mechanic said the ball joints were good... the tires just ok. but steering cylinder would probably need replacing. so i paid $145.00 to the jeep/chrysler dealer for a new steering cylinder. turns out the one i purchased was much bigger then the one i replaced. it still shook a little until i replaced the tires at another $650.00. this needs to be investigated. i hope you will look into this. please before someone gets hurt and maybe already has. thanks

While pumping gas at multiple different gas stations, the pump failed to shut off when the fuel tank became fuel. as a result of the pump not shutting off, fuel spilled out of the tank as it became overfilled. i did not leave the pump nor did i set the lock on the pump so i would not have to hold the pump handle during any of the times i have pumped gas into the vehicle to avoid spilling fuel the best i can. this happens at many different stations that i fill my fuel tank up at, the only common denominator in my situation is the vehicle itself. the vehicle has not been modified in any way that would interfere with normal fuel pumping procedure.

I bought this vehicle used and the first time i went to fill up with gas, i put the nozzle in the filler opening and squeezed the handle all the way. i locked the handle so the gasoline would continue to flow and let go of the nozzle. around the 16 gallon mark, gasoline shot out of the filler opening and then poured down the side of the jeep. enough came oit that it created a small puddle on the ground. gasoline got all over the side of the jeep and the fender. it also sprayed my hand as i was standing near it. i had to wipe down the fender and side of jeep because i didn't want to cause any damage to paint or plastic. i found this same problem each and every time i've filled the tank since that time. i've tried different gas stations and nozzles but it doesn't seem to matter. this is completely unacceptable in my opinion and forces me to barely trickle the gas into the tank by only squeezing the handle part way. if i don't do this, i spill gas onto the ground and the side of my jeep with each fill. after researching this problem, i've found it is very common in my model year and the years surrounding. why won't chrysler just fix this?!

While driving the jeep wrangler on a smooth pavement @ 55mph the steering wheel began shaking violently and the entire vehicle was shaking. it seemed as if both front wheels were loose. i immediately braked, pulled off the highway to a complete stop. upon finding nothing loose i proceeded down the highway, upon reaching 55mph the vehicle repeated the shaking. i have replaced the track bar, steering dampener, front brake rotors, brake pads, new tires, wheels checked with calipars, and 2 alignments. i still cannot exceed 55mph without the violent shaking.

When my 2006 jeep wrangler hits a bump or an imperfection in the road while travelling at 45mph and above, the jeep will begin to shake so severely that a crash seems inevitable unless i slam on the brakes and pull over on the shoulder. this has happened to me more than i can count and continues to be a dangerous problem. please help!!!

Everytime i fill up my jeep wrangler gas shoots out and spills all over my fender and ground, i have never had any car do this ever and i know it's a defect that jeep is aware of and won't fix them under warranty which they should

We own a 2006 jeep wrangler x with around 60,000 miles on it. it started a terrible wobble in the front end that is called death wobble i have done multiple repairs and replacements of parts to no avail. i called the local chrysler dealership for advice their answer was to replace the steering stabilizer. i stated that this had already been done their response was i dont know what to tell you then. this problem occurs at 50 miles per hour and when it begins the vehicle must come to complete stop to end the wobble. the jeep has been in the shop multiple times for this problem and no fix has been found. i have rotated the tires twice and that works for about a week and the problem returns. the tires have been rebalanced twice also. i have replaced all the shocks, the steering stabilizer, and it has been realligned two times. this is a major problem for many people as can be seen if death wobble is searched on google. there is no known repair for this problem and chrysler continues to ignore it.

I am driving at 20 mph on a curve on the expressway and out of nowhere the whole entire shakes, rocks, moves uncontrollably to all direction. i can be driving in city limits at 25 mph and it will do all the same things shakes, rocks, moves uncontrollably to all directions. it occurs more than 10 times a month. i took my jeep wrangler to the jeep agency and they told me it was the breaks so i told them ok fix it. they called me to pick up my car that it was ready. so i drive on to get on the expressway as soon as i get to 25mph the car shows the same problem. i went back to the dealership and they refunded my money and they told me that they couldn't figure it out and they suggested that i take it to another dealer that isn't jeep. i told them that they were the jeep experts what would other agencies know about jeep. then i spoke to daimler and they said to try to replace my tires and i did and the problem was still there. i have all my paper work.

2006 jeep wrangler -- bought used with less than 30k miles on it. wobble at about 55mph, intermittently. mine was solved by replacing the stabilizer bar, had nothing to do with tires, although the first time it happened, i thought i had blown a tire. gas tank filling -- same problem, the pump doesn't shut off unless you pump the gas slowly. first few times, spewed gas all over the jeep, myself and the pavement. now i listen as the tank fills and slow the fill as i know it's starting towards full. with the slowing, the pump does shut off but it's a good idea to have some idea how much gas the tank will take at certain fuel readings.

I own a 2006 jeep wrangler and besides eccessive tire wear which the local dealership cannot seem to fix, my latest problem is with the ignition system . originally i thought it was the ignition switch but when i called the dealership to get a new one the parts salesman told me that that my problem wasnt with the switch (and he was right) the problem is a piece of plastic between the switch and the tumbler and that the only way to get the plastic piece was to buy the complete steering column. in that phone call he also informed me that he knew this due to the fact they have had several problems with the wranglers 1997 on up and the factory hasnt done anything to correct the problem and the only way to get this little 50 cent piece was to buy a $500.00 steering column. i feel this should be a recalled item due to the fact they know it is a problem and i am afraid that while i'm driving the vehicle could shut down so i am not driving on the freeway so if it does shut down i wont have an uncontrolable vehicle at high speed.

My 2006 jeep wrangler has been a problem since i bought it. the vehicle has been back to the dealership for part replacement repair over 7 times, and it has only 24,000 k. won't detail each mechanical issue, but i have been very disappointed in this vehicle, and got rid of it last week. *tr
