| Jeep wrangler fan speed selector switch is a known issue from the tj years. they typically burn out the first 2 speeds and the last 2 will work for a while, and also fail leaving no method to defrost or clear your window. *tr | |||

| Our wrangler rubicon was purchased new from a dodge/chrysler/jeep dealership in bullhead city during model year, 2006. since that time, the jeep has been taken into the dealership to fix the windshield rubber seal that continues to separate from the windshield and the window frame. first it shrank in the lower left corner. this caused wind noise and excessive drafts. they pushed it back into place. several months later, the entire gasket separated and fell onto the dash! good vista glass came to our home checked the seal and told us it was defective and the whole rubber gasket would have to be replaced. it was. now this week, while the jeep just sat in our driveway, we discovered the entire rubber seal again hanging from the window frame above the dashboard. this makes driving the jeep to get it repaired dangerous. as i type this, good vista glass again is placing a new gasket into place. i am not completely sure about the integrity of the windshield when this continues to happen but at the very least, there is a danger of this gasket falling into my view and/or lap while driving. my vehicle history is important too. i, like a lot of 4 x 4 owners, do not even take the jeep off road. i baby the vehicle and keep in immaculate condition. also, all of the folks i have dealt with at swanty's jeep and good vista glass have been polite and helpful. now, i was told by the good vista glass technician yesterday, 10/01/06 that this windshield gasket separation is a continuing problem with jeeps. maybe a recall should be in order? all documentation has been retained. thank you, john l jenkins fort mohave, az *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 jeep wrangler. the vehicle is a right hand ride jeep. at 9,000 miles, the contact had to replace the heating switches and wiring harness. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they dismantled the dashboard. they noticed several malfunctions and replaced a number of wiring harnesses in order to repair the heating switches. recently, the vehicle had to be returned to the dealer due to alternator failure. the alternator sent so much heat to the battery that is caused the water to boil. sulfuric acid spilled all over the firewall of the vehicle. the contact was informed that the alternator was sending currents of up to 19 volts to the battery. the failure mileage was 56,000. updated 05/21/08 *bf the consumer stated he replaced the heater switch 3 times, the alternator and starter were replaced as well. the defroster was inoperative. updated 05/20/08 | |||

| My wife and i were on a trip in our 2006 wrangler (with 10,802 miles on it),it was very cold this night and windows were fogging up. we turned on the defroster for the first time and within a minute our windshield cracked. i called our local dealership and was told that my warranty did not cover this item and i had to pay them to replace my window. i later found out it should have been covered. 12 month or 12,000 miles. i think they might have a safety issue wit this so more people need to complain. *tr | |||

| In december 2007 i was sitting in my 2006 jeep wrangler x in my driveway with my defroster on when about 5 minutes later i heard a popping noise like when you put ice in a glass and it starts to get hot. i look around and noticed a crack in my windshield coming from under the bottom seal. i called my dealership which they told me it was probably a chip that expanded. i brought it down and fought with the service manager that this should have not happened even if there was a chip in the window because every car that has a chip and turns their defroster on should do the same thing. the dealership told me i had to pay for the window and that it might happen again. the insurance i have covered my window and now again i looked the other day and i have another crack on the new window. not very happy with this car. *tr | |||

| Windshield cracked while driving without any external forces, dealer claims stress fracture, manufacture refuses to replace due to mileage over 12,000, vehicle is a little over 14,000 miles and only one year old. this a safety issue due to manufactures defect that should be replaced regardless of mileage on vehicle. in the process to replace windshield as soon as possible, vehicle being used only in emergency if needed!!*jb | |||
