The vehicle routinely spills large quantities of gasoline whenever it is filled with gas. this does not include topping off but occurs whenever the tank is filled until the pump handle automatically stops at any station in multiple states and every single time. *tr

While filling up fuel tank to full and using the autoatic shutoff supplied by all fuel stations the gas will overflow out of the filler neck for 1-2 seconds before actually stopping the flow of the fuel.

Every time that i fill my vehicle up with fuel it overflows and spills all over the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. at first, i just thought it was the pumps at the gas station i normally go to, but recently i've started to go to a new gas station and the same thing is happening. what finally brought it to my attention was that i was filling up, and someone with the same year (2007) jeep was getting gas right next to me and the same thing happened to him. i know 2 other people with jeep wrangers and theirs are doing the same thing. i'd be willing to bet most have this problem. it's not only bad for the environment, it's a dangerous situation as well.

All complete fills of gas in the tank creates a spillover. need to be very careful when it nears full otherwise a minimum of a cup of fuel spills. the shutoff on the pump is not recognized. happens at all gas stations. notice numerous other postings on the internet with similar issues.

My wrangler was manufactured 2/07- i purchased it used in 2/12. every time i fill the tank, gas spills out immediately after the pump stops. daimler chrysler will not acknowledge this is an issue despite hundreds of complaints from 2007-08 wrangler owners. this is obviously a safety issue and there should be a recall.

When filling the fuel on the 2007 jeep wrangler, after the automatic shut off of the pump, fuel spills out of the filler neck covering the side of the jeep.

Just purchased this jeep used, excellent condition few days ago jan. 2012. major fuel spitting back upon filling the tank. the pump shuts off as expected and then there is a huge gush of gas that comes out after all over me, the side of jeep, and all over the ground. this is a huge safety issue and a fire concern! the second attempt at fueling i tried slowing the speed of gas and not filling all the way --- same thing happened. jeep dealer acts they've never heard of this. a lie. ive emailed chrysler and they also are acting like they dont know anything about it even though i have a copy of a letter they have sent to previous owners about it stating they would repair this fuel spitback issue. apparently, my previous owner did nothing! i've now read all of the reports and claims. too bad we didn't know this before. i am afraid to put my family in this jeep and we haven't even had it for a week. you don't think it's a recall? i need this fixed! what will it take for you to issue a recall? a fire, explosion? or do you need to wait for a death first? would you like a video of this fuel spitting back out of the side of my new jeep? i would be glad to film it for you as proof! it's not just a little fuel --- it's a gush! wake up, okay? i am a new owner and nobody and no internet sites or social media b.s. is influencing me. i need help and so does everyone else with this extremely dangerous issue.

When filling the gas tank, the tank will overfill every time that the fuel hose handle is allowed to cut off automatically. gas will then splash down the side of the jeep and on to the ground.

Bought this jeep used in feb 2011. it spills fuel everywhere during fill up at gas pump when nozzle cuts off. it happens every time and at multiple stations. i have to usually only put 15-18 gallons in to prevent it from spilling over. there have been numerous times it has spit and spilled on myself or my wife during fueling.
12/03/200710000
This vehicle has had a problem with the gas tank overflowing since it was almost new. jeep has refused to recognize that this is a design flaw and refuses to take responsibility for the environmental and safety hazard that this flaw causes each and every time these jeeps are fueled up. at the point of filling up, the gas tank overflows sending large amounts of gas on the side of the jeep and onto the ground. this is a terrible fire and environmental hazard that could lead to public injury and even death if it caused a fire. i would be happy to provide a video of this problem occuring if needed to get this addressed. absent action being taken here, i am not sure where to turn other than mainstream media to get action to be taken.

Fuel overflows every time i visit the gas station. each gas station pump auto shutoff works properly but fuel always spills over. it is dangerous and should be addressed.

Vehicle was just purchased certified pre-owned. vehicle came with a full tank of gasoline. while re-filling at a gas station for the first time, the tank filled normally. as soon as the fuel reached the nozzle end i heard the nozzle click off. then approximately half a gallon of fuel sprayed out the end of the fill tube. the fuel ran all over the side of the jeep and also sprayed onto my pant leg and shoe. i have since looked this issue up online in jeep owner's forums and found this to be a huge problem among so many of these models. not only is this a tremendous safety issue, but also an environmental issue as well. it is obvious that the tank is not vented properly. this issue needs immediate attention before a tragic event occurs. earlier in this form i was asked if a fire occurred i answered no. thank god this time there was not. this defect not unlike throwing lit matches at a gas pump.

When filling the gas tank at the pump the tank overfills before the pump shuts off. this problem occurs at almost every pump with any angle and depth of nozzle. i have seen many complaints about the same issue on many jeep forums.

While filling jeep with gas for the first time since i purchased used, gas overflowed from tank, gas pump did not shut off until gas was spilling out. i informed the gas station attendant, thinking it was a gas pump problem. since then, i have filled up at several different stations, and the problem has happened every time unless we slowly pump the gas in as the tank fills.

Fuel splash back when pump set on auto shut off, lowest setting. will loose 2 - 6 oz. fuel on to side of vehicle and often enough to splash on drive. dealer doesn't seem to know anything about ongoing problem.

My vehicle spills fuel out of the filler area every time i fill up. the fuel gets on me, the vehicle, and the ground. i have contacted chrysler about the matter, and they advise me because i am outside the time frame for their tsb, any repairs would have to be paid by me. after thoroughly researching the matter, it seems this is a wide spread concern. chrysler has addressed the issue for some, but not others because we're outside the window. please see your code #pe10032. also, my vehicle consumes or burns oil at the rate of one quart per 1000 miles. again, research shows this is another wide spread matter attributed to faulty motor construction of some 2007/2008 engines. owners who have had the repair done under warranty found that on three pistons, ring gaps where in a line, the other three where close, all six oil expander rings and piston rods where installed upside down. chrysler will address the matter only if you are still under warranty. i do not understand why the cost should be bared by the consumer when both matters are so common and wide spread as to indicate design flaws in the product. why should i pay for their inability to build a component correctly?

While pumping fuel to the vehicle. the gas nozzle clicks and shuts off fuel when gas tank is full. the vehicle will burst fuel back out. spilling all over side of vehicle and on to the floor. when i pump gas i have to make sure i don't fill gas tank to full or the problem will continue. it happens all the time and in different gasoline stations.

When refueling the vehicle, the automatic shutoff does not engage from the vehicle itself. fuel (about a quart) continues to flow and out and all over the side of the vehicle. it also sprays out and on the personnel fueling the vehicle. there is a tsb 14-001-11 from jeep about the issue, and i request this be repaired under warranty. it is unsafe for the operator to have fuel sprayed on them, and have fuel spillage on the ground.

My build date on my jeep sahara was 10/2006. it started shooting gas back out the fill pipe app. a year after i purchased it and it is still doing it almost every time i fill it up regardless of the gas station or the speed the pump is pumping (slow medium or fast).it has shot gas out as far as a foot from the jeep, spraying on me a couple different times. i have been informed that some jeeps after a build date from march 2007 thru 2008 are being repaired by the dealer. i would like to know why the earlier build dates are not since it is the same problem.

Gas tank overfill. when fueling, after the gas station pump clicks off, large volumes of gasoline are ejected from the gas tank onto the side of the vehicle, onto the pump handle itself, and onto the person doing the fueling (me). again, this happens *after* the gas pump clicks itself off.

Gas surges out of gas tank shortly after the automatic shut-off on gas pump activates. several cups of gasoline pour down the side of the car and puddles on the ground. this happens every time i fill my car at every gas station. i now only fill my car to approximately 3/4 full. it started happening fall of 2010 with approximately 37,000 miles on the car. this has happened about 10-12 times.

This is a recurring problem that i face when i fill the vehicle up at any gas station. while filling the vehicle with gas, the auto stop clicks, and immediately the tank starts spilling gas. the gas spills out and runs down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground creating a puddle. this problem isn't attributable to trying to top off the tank because the by the first time the auto stop clicks, the vehicle is already pouring out gasoline. i have spoken to many other owners regarding this problem and they have said the same thing. i have investigated through nhtsa, and they have an ongoing investigation into this matter (action number : pe10032).

When refueling, a significant amount of gasoline spilled out after the pump automatically shut off. within a second or 2 of the pump shutting off gas then flowed out of the tank filler tube. it splashed all over my pants and shoes along with the car itself.
12/01/201038000
Approximately 1/4 to 1/2 gallon of fuel back flows forcefully out of filler neck immediately following the release of the handle when the tank is full. this happens both when the handle is locked down in fueling position and automatically clicks off and when i am holding the handle to fill the tank. at no time am i attempting to overfill the tank beyond the safety shut off.

When filling with gas spews out. on january 10th flew out so bad, my winter coat, pants, gloves and shoes were ruined. been ongoing problem. has repair orders from dealership. in addition, the hard top has leaked since day one and never been repaired. i am not driving vehicle since the awful spillage on january 10th. i cannot afford to keep ruining clothes. in addition, concerned it can cause further problem (ie, perhaps fire). always in attendance while filling. spoken with several other jeep owners experiencing same problem. what's it going to take for chrysler to correct this default, a death, or severe injury. if not winter time i feel i would have been burned on my skin by the gasoline.

2007 jeep wrangler - every time i fill the gas tank, since roughly 10,000 miles (now at 63,000) the auto shut off feature of gas pumps will not shut off in time. this causes roughly 1/4 gallon of fuel to spill down the side of the vehicle. this has been a reoccurring situation for a couple years. i cannot rely on the auto-shut off of the pump with this vehicle. this is a known issue for many jeep wrangler owners, since the new model from 2007. multiple attempts to fix under warranty were denied by dealerships. i am finally scheduled to replace the gas tank (a known fix for the issue); but will be paying for it out of pocket, as the warranty has since expired.

Every time the vehicle is filled with gasoline, gasoline exits the tank through the filler tube and splashes on the ground leaving a potential for fire. this happens at pumps at different stations in different states, different amounts of fuel within before fueling, and regardless of placement of the filling handle of the pump. the vehicle worked as it should for the first 25k miles and will not fill correctly since that time without leaving fuel on the ground. this is my second 2007 jeep wrangler and both have had this problem at approximately the same mileage. each vehicle was filled with the correct gasoline as prescribed by the manual and all maintenance was done at a 5 star jeep dealer on both. there appears to be a defect in the design of the gas system.
12/22/201048314
When filling the fuel tank with fuel, the tank does not properly vent causing fuel to spurt out the filler neck as it approaches full. the gas spurts on the vehicle's 1/4 panel, on the person filling the vehicle and on the ground. this has happened now during the last several fill ups. you must also fill slowly or the gas nozzle shuts off as if the tank is full. i have an extensive automotive background and it is obvious that the tank is not properly venting. this occurs in boats when permanent mounted fuel tank vent lines become blocked or collapse over time.
09/17/201037000
When refueling, as you near full, the pump will shut off, and you will get a big splash back of gasoline( about 2-5 cups). it will splash back all over the side of the vehicle and rubber fender and rear plastic bumper. even if you try to guess when its nearing full, it still seems to be some back splash when you shut it off near full

Fuel spill every time it is filled. as the pump clicks off it starts venting fuel on the person filling & on the ground.

While filling fuel tank, at almost full or full tank, pump will shut off or auto stop, and then fuel will start to shoot back out of gas filler as almost under pressure. sometimes it's a few drops, but more often it is a lot. if your nearby you will get covered in gas, happens 4 out of 5 times while filling up now. i feel this could be a safety issue as my jeep and anyone near it during fill up can end up covered in gas

While i was filling up with gas the nozzle kicked off and fuel overflowed all over the side of my jeep and the ground. i thought it was the stations pump for the issue. a week later i was at another gas station filling up with gas and it did it again only this time gas spilled all over my jeep, pants and shoes. every since the first episode it had happened every time i fill up. i have tried to hold the nozzle and pump it slowly, but it still happens. it is beyond frustrating to have to wash the side of my jeep off every time i fill up with gas. this could be a very big issue. i had the gas spill all over my jeans and shoes making them both flammable. also, it could have splashed into my eyes. i think jeep needs to do something about this issue before someone gets hurt.
