| The 2007 jeep wrangler stalled, lost power brakes, lost power steering. tried to restart the vehicle and would not turn over. we noticed flames shooting up outside the passenger side of the vehicle. all 4 of us climbed out the driver side door. i tried to open the hood and flames came bursting out. within 2 minutes the whole vehicle engulfed in flames. the flames were coming from underneath the engine. it took the fire department nearly 2 hours to extinguish the flames. the vehicle was a total loss. | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler. while driving at approximately 20 mph the brake light illuminated on the instrument panel and the brake pedal dropped to the floor board. the contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the road and applied brake fluid to the brake system. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer. the technician stated there was a hole in the brake tube due to the steering shaft rubbing on the tube and the brake line would have to be replaced. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v202000 (service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) that may be related to the failure. the manufacturer stated the vin was not included in the recall. also the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. the technicians stated the clock spring had fractured and would have to be replaced. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 11v528000 (air bags:frontal) that may be related to the failure. the manufacturer stated the vin was not included. the vehicle brake line was repaired. the clock spring was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 56,000. ds | |||
