Had been smelling raw gas inside and outside vehicle for several months. finally tracked down to fuel line coming from gas tank. plastic elbow under driver seat (rhd postal jeep) has pinhole and has been squirting a fine stream of fuel onto bottom of vehicle. if it had squirted on exhaust or any other hot surface, it would surely cause a fire. wonder if any other elbows have failed on other vehicles, and also if there are any fuel line elbows in the engine compartment? could be explanation for engine fires that are being investigated. local jeep dealer had replaced fuel tank on 10-19-11 due to a recall about fuel spilling out of filler tube after fuel handle clicked off. never noticed gas smell before the tank was replaced.

Fuel overflows when refueling. overflow occurs even without filling the tank. parking brake doesn't work unless you pull it up very hard and still doesn't keep it from rolling. air conditioner doesn't cool. it has been in the service department several times for repair. blows smoke from vents. a loud knock sound when you turn the a/c on/off or when you crank the vehicle and the a/c control is on. soft top leaks over both doors when it rains. service department has confirmed proper top installation. sharp edges on the roll bars. roll bar covers have ripped as a result of putting the top up or down. dangerous wobble when you hit a small pothole, change uneven lanes, etc. hood lifts approx. 2 inches when a large truck or trailer passes or meets the jeep. manual transmission grinds or catches when shifting into 2nd gear, worse when cold.

There is a known issue with fuel regurgitating from the fuel filler neck on fillup for 2008 wranglers. my wife's 2008 wrangler 4-door had the issue and was repaired. 4 months later, my 2008 wrangler 2-door did the same thing. when reporting to the dealer, i was informed that my vin is not part of the group with the problem. yet there i stood at the pump with a quart of gasoline all over my jeep, the ground and me. this is a fire and environmental hazard. the group is clearly larger than chrysler is admitting. i want my jeep fixed just like my wife's was when she had this issue!

When filling up with gas the gas spews out as te tank becomes full instead of shutting off. doesn't matter what gas station or how i fill up. happens every time.

Issue with fuel spillage when filling up the vehicle. apparently there is fuel tank inlet check valve that has an issue. every time i try to fill the vehicle up with gas it overflows...the pump clicks off as it should but there is an overflow of gas that comes out of the vehicle after the pump clicks off. i've had to stop filling my vehicle up and go to only putting $30 or so in to keep it from overflowing. thought it was just me until i had someone else try filing it up and it did the same thing. found out a friend of mine who also has a jeep (2 years older than mine) had the same problem and ended up having to have his fuel tank replaced.

I just purchase a jeep and the first time i filled up with gas, the pump shut off but fuel splashed out on the ground, the vehicle and me. i thought at first i just had done something wrong. i went three days later to fuel up again and this time did not use the nozzle handle latch and the same thing happened. the pump shut off and i kept the nozzle in the tank for a moment for the fuel to settle but it spilled out with force all over my car, the concrete and me. i don't know what to do as i love my jeep but this is unsafe and i want it fixed! obviously there is no warranty remaining but i should not have to pay for a new fuel tank and system. there are numerous people on the internet forums that are having the same problem, this needs to be addressed and corrected......before a major incident occurs!

The airbag light stays on occasionally making a warning bell. i have no idea if the airbag is functional. had it to the dealer once but since i work in this vehicle i could not leave it so they could not determine if it is the clockspring or an airbag module. the fuel inlet also spews gas when filling up the gas tank. there has been a recall on the fuel issue, but i have had parts on order for eight months and they are still on backorder.

When fueling the vehicle a large amount of fuel overflows from the fuel receptacle 1-2 seconds after the pump cuts the flow of fuel. this happens every time the vehicle is filled and has occurred using in excess of 50 different fueling stations. approximately 1 quart of fuel spills down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. this creates a safety hazard as well as an environmental hazard.

Starting in november 2010 with less than 34,000 miles on the vehicle when filling up with fuel the jeep will over flow once full. now every time the fuel nozzle is clicked to hold in the on position, for some reason it will not shut off in time, no matter what gas station i use. i believe this to be a very dangerous situation for myself as well bad for the environment. i would think that jeep would issue a full recall to fix this problem. however, the dealership which i purchased the jeep did replace the fuel tank, and other components to remedy the problem.

Starting when the vehicle was approximately 2 1/2 years old, gasoline pumps no longer shut off when the vehicle is being filled with gas and the tank becomes full. gas continues to pump, spilling from the vehicle, and the pump has to be manually shut off. it didn't do this when new, nor did my prior wrangler (2000 model owned for 5 years).

When filling the gas tank and on automatic shut off at the pump, the pump will shut off and then gas will almost shoot out of the filling tube. this happens on at any gas station and leaves gas all down the side of the jeep and on the ground. i now only get gas when the light comes on and i can guess on how much gas i need. at fill up, i put the pump to automatic shut off until i estimate i am 2 gallons short. i then finish off manually at the lowest flow rate. this is not a guarantee to work.

When fueling my jeep the and auto shut off at the pump stops a fair amount of fuel comes spilling out and runs down the side of my vehicle. this is a danger as there is exposed fuel on my vehicle and the ground. this is a waste of my money and a risk to the environment as the spill is on the concrete. when rain or washed this fuel will be introduced into the water system. also the danger is obvious that there is raw fuel flowing down the side of my vehicle.

When filling gas tank a large backsplash of gas comes out as tank approaches full. i tried adjusting the gas hose nosle both in and out. splashing occurs in all cases. gets less the further the nossel is pulled out. gas could splash on person standing close, mostly runs down side of jeep and onto and over rear bumper and onto ground. service station attendants have come out to check for issue due to amount of gas spilled. car had no issues with this for first 3 years. problem developed suddenly with no warning. only fix is to not completely fill tank but you have to guess each time how close to full the tank is. gas spilled out between 1/10 and 1/2 gal each time -hard to measure.

While filling up the vehicle with gas, after the gas pump handle shuts off, a portion of gas will flow out of the fill tube. different positions of the gas pump inserted into fill tube still results in gas pouring out the fill tube. gas will still pour out of the fill tube even at a very slow fill rate. different gas stations were used with the same result. there is great concern about the spilled fuel catching fire on the vehicle or a person who this happens to unexpected.

The last three or so times i've filled the vehicle with gas, the automatic shut-off on the pump does not engage until fuel has overflowed the tank and spilled onto the outside of the vehicle and the ground. this happens regardless of which fuel station i go to. each incident has happened at a fuel station where i used to be able to fill my tank without any problem. i understand that an investigation is already open regarding this issue. i would think a recall is in order considering the proximity of the fuel spill to hot brake pads and other potential sources of ignition.

Gas will spill from the fuel inlet when filling the gas tank, regardless of speed of additional gas or current amount within gas tank. enough gas is spilled to cause significant damage should it reach an ignition source.

Vehicle now since date of initial occurrence spews fuel back out of filler neck when fueling. spilt fuel launches out from trapped pressure in tank and covers the ground and side of vehicle. it also splashes on operator but i usually stay back if i can help it. i have tried different gas stations but find the station is not a factor in this issue. it also doesn't matter if i stop the pump manually or allow the mechanical feature of the pump stop the fueling process. the jeep did not have this problem when new.

The gas tank overflows every time it is filled up. the automatic shut does not work. this has happened every single time no matter which gas station or what type of gas. holding the nozzle at different angles does not help. the only way to avoid this is to pay very close attention to the number of gallons of gas being put in the tank. this is a hazard as gas gets everywhere, especially the person pumping the gas and will likely ruin the paint job; also leads to wasted gasoline/money.

When the filling up the gas pump doesn't shut off when full. gas will spray out about 5 feet all over the vehicle until you release the lever.

Gas will spill out (splash) from the filler tube because the automatic fuel shutoff feature on gas pumps will not detect fuel fill level until too late. gas will usually hemorrhage enough to splash out of the tube and run down the side of the vehicle and collect on the bumper. if you stand too close in some cases you might get gas on your clothing. this seems to be a common problem with late model jeep jk models

When i fill the gas tank it will over flow at the filler neck. when the fuel pump cuts off there is air pressure that will force the gas out when the tank is filled. i have used different stations with the same results. this is a fire hazard.

When fueling, the automatic shut-off has started shutting off too late, resulting in a fuel spill every time = fire hazard plus paint damage. multiple gas stations, multiple pumps, different temperatures. the incident date reflects the most recent fill-up, where i started searching for a solution. searched on-line, and have read that this is a problem that is common with this make, model and model year. (unfortunately, i am just past the 3-year warranty period).

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 jeep wrangler. the contact stated when the vehicle is filled with gas it spills out one to two gallons. this happens a few seconds after the pump is stopped. there have been times that the gas has gone down the side of the vehicle and hit the exhaust. the vehicle had not been inspected at the time of the complaint. when the contact spoke with the dealer, they did not give any reason for the failure. the failure mileage was 39000 and the current mileage was 43000.rl

Gas tank overfills and comes out before the pump auto shut off activates. also smell gas in side the vehicle if going over a rough road when the tank is almost full.

When filling the gas tank the filler tube will release approximately a liter of fuel.

When filling up at the gas station, the gas will back splash out of the filler tube when it fills up. the gas tank does not allow for the air to disperse when filling it up. this is a safety issue and needs to be a recall ! if you are not aware of this happening you will get gasoline on you if you are near the fuel nozzle.

When filling the vehicle with gasoline and setting the gas pump to auto shut-off, the vehicle will not activate the auto shut-off resulting in gasoline blowing out of the fuel opening. this problem has happened three times so far and resulted in gasoline spilling onto my pants, shoes, side of vehicle, bumper and ground. this problem is dangerous to persons, damage to the vehicle and is an envirnomental issue.
